I need to stop posting using my iPhone. I just noticed a couple wrong words and weird sentence breaks. I hate autocorrect.

Regardless, great story Rev! +k from me too.  ;D

D3 Priority Tuesday:

1.) Drop daughter off at the babysitter's, pick up dlip's father, and head immediately to Frank Bailey field to watch Union practice.

2.) Head home from the U's practice and read as much of "Kickoff" as possible.

3.) Go to work (sucks!)

4.) Return to Frank Bailey to see the afternoon session of Union Camp.

5.) Pick up daughter from babysitter's and head home to read more of "Kickoff."

6.) Before bed discuss every single thing dlip saw at Union with his wife until he is told to STFU!

Not a bad day if you ask dlip, not a bad day at all  ;D

Looks similar to my plans for the day. I imagine most of us are practicing some form of that list today!

Happy B-day newcardfan...or belated B-day!

Dlip is looking forward to going to Frank Bailey field tomorrow evening for Union's scrimmage against Castleton St starting at 5. Dlip will report his thoughts on the LLPP following the scrimmage. This will at the very least tell dlip if his Dutch have a chance at meeting his 9-1 prediction. d3.com predicts 8-2 and dlip's father thinks both are crazy. He says 6-4 with the lack of QB experience and other question marks on the D side. We shall see father, we shall see :)!

Personal prediction:  7-3.  You can't expect miracles with the offensive question marks early on.  That said, this year could very easily see the LL winner with two losses (Springfield's offensive style and Hobart's greenness on OL could really create a wide open situation).  We'll learn a lot in the OOC stretch, however.

Your thoughts tend to be more realistic Frank  :). dlip still struggles with objectivity when it comes to his Dutchmen. dlip thinks you and his father are cause for some re-evaluation. dlip will gain some goos perspective after watching this evenings scrimmage. Some of dlip's thoughts are based upon the schedule. Lets look at it shall we?:

Salve: Questions at QB (like us), a very good back, and a strong secondary. We shall see. This game is definitely winnable for Union, based on it's place in the schedule. Audino is seems dead focused on a win one game at a time approach and knows the importance of winning this game at home. Players know it to.

Utica: A tough loss last year and a winnable game this year. A great (IDHO) QB without his #1 target. Some questions on D as well. Looks like they have some experience in the secondary. This is a very winnable game for Union. dlip thinks it close, but feels Union can pull it out. He thinks our running game and (what needs to be a short) short passing game will be too much down the stretch for the Pioneers.

IC: Hendel (arguable his best game last season) exploited our weak secondary last season in Schenectady. Even though dlip does not think the secondary improves by leaps and bounds, from what he has already seen at camp, he feels it is better. Plus, Hendel may not even be the guy with Phil Neumann seemingly the starter. Neumann a local kid from Burnt Hills struggled last season with interceptions and the overall complexity of the D3 game. He will be better but not enough. They don't run the ball wel and their O-line is struggling. Honestly though, Ithaca is Ithaca, and this should be Union's toughest OOC test of 2012. dlip thinks this game will be low scoring and Union will do enough on the ground, even against a stout Bomber D, to win. Honestly though, a toss -up.

SLU, Springfield, WPI, U of R: Our first four LL games are winnable. SLU may surprise if they can find a reliable QB. WPI will be similar to last only minus a very versitale Ernie Mello. Rochester will struggle this season and Unionrealy needs a W in that match-up. The best of the four will be Springfield. Questions on O there as well. It usually takes a new Triple Option QB a bit to get that O rolling on a consistent basis. dlip does not know if Bateman can do that just yet. A very good FB will hurt Union but maybe not enough. This is a game Union can and may lose. dlip looks for which ever QB Union plays here to have a breakout day against a very inexperienced Pride secondary. Union has a ton of experience against this offense and again, without a top notch leader taking the snaps, the Pride's D will not be able to hold off Union's ground attack and even inexperienced passing attack. Another toss up but dlip leans toward Union here.

Hobart: We lose.

MMA: A well rounded coach and a good O-line won't be enough. As many refer to Salisbury as Springfield on Steroids MMA is Springfiled minus steroids and vitamins for that matter. dlip actually thinks this game may be closer than some think, but he is going with Union's ability to run the ball and stack the box on D all the way.

RPI: Honestly dlip does not know yet. A more mature Mike Hermann may really throw off the Union D with an improved passing accuracy and great running ability. RPI will struggle at RB but won't really need one with Hermann basically playing two positions in one. This is going to be a tough test for Union and is very hard to call without having seen either team play. After kickoff and some thought dlip feels the Engineers may get back into the grove this year. Like it said in the mighty kickoff, a ton rests upon the RPI D. If they can be consistent and stuff the Union run it may be a tough game for the Dutchmen. As of now, dlip may be leaning towards RPI.

Reworked Prediction: Call it what you will dlip is still learning a ton about Union and football as a whole. He also knows to never discount his father's thoughts when it comes to this football team. Over 30 years of watching Union football and once being accused at camp by Al Bagnoli as being a spy will always trump dlip's meager thoughts. Dad's always know best! Looking at what dlip just wrote out and rethinking some of his earlier predictions leads dlip to this. 6-4 is possible, very possible. 9-1 is possible, not as possible and maybe not very realistic but still possible. 7-3 5-2 seems to be the happy medium. dlip has always been told that 0 or 360 is quite sick, the healthy place always sits somewhere in between. dlip will concurr with Frank and take back his earlier blog prediction for a more well thought out and reasoned prediction of 7-3 5-2. Good dlip is an ass kisser! ****! :)

Probably just got karma snipped for my giving in, probably rightfully so. Heah gotta admit when you are possibly wrong and not being as objective as one should be.

Let's hope for an injury free scrimmage for both teams this evening. Dlip is looking forward to seeing how good the Castleton QB is.

"In The HuddLLe" is back for a fifth season!

"ITH" will be live from 7:30 - 9:00 PM every Sunday on BlogTalkRadio.com and InTheHuddLLe.com during the football season.  We have had over 10,000 downloads to our podcast, interviewed special guests such as Dr. Tony Strickland (UCLA and Sports Concussion Institute), "Ghost Rider" Director Mark Neveldine, and NCAA D3 Tournament Chairwoman Joy Solomen in prior years.  We also have appreciated the support from in conference radio stations like WPDM, WRPI and WHWS for playing the program and our "Around the League" highlight reel over their airwaves.

On Tuesday, August 28, we will be previewing the Liberty League season from 7:30-9:30 PM ET.  Each year, our preseason show features player interviews from each LL team and this year we'll be joined by special guest RPI Athletic Director Jim Knowlton to discuss the recent coaching changes in Troy.

We'll also have predictions and preview all six Week 1 games (Springfield vs. Bridgewater St, Dickinson vs. Hobart, Salve vs. Union, Kings Point vs. Susquehanna, St. Lawrence vs. Utica, and WPI vs. Curry).

Please join us "In the HuddLLe" on Tuesday night and throughout the 2012 season.

Fun fact: The Rev was in a course "Performing Shakespeare" with Mark Neveldine and we took a road trip to Stratford, Ontario to see Twelfth Night.
I've never had the chance to drop his name before now.
