Probably just got karma snipped for my giving in, probably rightfully so. Heah gotta admit when you are possibly wrong and not being as objective as one should be.

Let's hope for an injury free scrimmage for both teams this evening. Dlip is looking forward to seeing how good the Castleton QB is.

I didn't snipe you, dlip, but NOT COOL for rooting for SJF and not TMC.  :)

As an East Region guy dlip has to do it. Plus, after getting into it last year with some fellas from the other regions regarding SJF and the east, dlip feels a bit of loyalty towards the Cardinals. Dlip will tell you this though, if you were still QBing dlip would definitely be pulling for you and the Saints!

+K on your thoughts about the Hobart game.

Agreed, very insightful!

If you're going to plagiarize my annual SJF-Ithaca prediction Dlip, royalties would be appreciated. I prefer chicken wings to cash

Nice :), some k for that ****!

I'm a long time reader but this is my first post on this board.  As you can see I'm a Union fan.  You can usually find me standing next to the frat house come game time (30+ years!)  I'm very anxious for the 2012 season to begin and have really no idea what's in store for the "U" this season.  Who's going to start at QB?  I was unable to get to the Union/Castleton scrimmage Saturday so dlip, I've been waiting for your promised report!

Welcome to the boards Ufan! Dlip is sure he'll see you on Sat on opening day. He too has been next to the frat house since he was 5 with his father (Ron). Also, the In the Huddlle radio show is excellent. The guys not only talk Union but talk in depth about all the Liberty League teams. Dlip recommends tuning in, they are nothing short of fantastic.

As far as the scrimmage goes here what dlip saw:

As far as scoring Union's first team scored either 21 or 28pts. It was hard to tell as different personel started getting involved around the third score. Castleton kicked a field goal and that was it. Castleton, a fairly new progam,  played hard but was dominated for the most part throughout.

Union Specifics: As far as QB's go sophmore's Connor Eck (Rye,NY) and Nick Becker (Coral Springs, FL) got the majority of snaps and threw the ball a good amount. They both looked decent. Eck, who dlip has not been all that impressed with in practices, looked better IMHO. He has a strong arm and seems to be getting a taste of Audino's challenging playbook. Becker, who dlip has liked in practices, did well also but just did not seem as poised as Eck. Nick definitely had some nice throws though. Gonna be a tough call but dlip guesses Connor will get the nod.  Dlip feels that we will see Becker as well if Eck isn't able to adjust. It's a tough job and dlip takes his hat off to both.

We did not run the ball a ton (running will be our trademark this year) but our run game looked O.K. Junior T.J. Franzese (Allendale, NJ) who will most likely get the most Carries did not get a lot of work. Sophmores Darnel Thomas was nasty. He seems to have gotton faster, stronger, and quicker during the offseason. He too will get many Carries this season and should continuously challenge Franzese for Carries. Also featured with the first and second teams was Junior Dylan Shuck (Putnam Valley, NY). Dylan also ran quite well aside from a fumble in the end zone. Shuck does not appear to have the shifty nature of Franzese or the skills of Thomas but he is tough and capable of advancing beyond contact. It has been quite sometime since dlip has seen this deep a running core in Schdy. O-line looked decent and Zavadsky and FB Hersey are beasts.

Defense looked pretty good (albeit against lesser talent). Dlip has some hope for our secondary. Sr. Gafar Johnson is a very athletic DB. The d-line looked bigger and stronger to dlip and got some decent pressure (rushing 3) on Castleton's QB. Our LB's looked decent, with Jeff Devico playing very tough. We looked good but this week will give us fans a much bettdr idea of what is to come. Dlip hopes this helped.

Again welcome to the boards, plus k. Say hello next week if you get a chance. Dlip amd his father will be in their regular spot. On the hill by the frat house.

Quick reminder to listen to the "In the HuddLLe" Preseason Show archive at http://inthehuddlle.com -- it was a jam-packed two-hour comprehensive rundown of the eight teams of the Liberty League.  For RPI fans, we give both an Athletic Director's view and player's view (Sr. LB Matthew Day) of the coaching carousel and its effects on the program in the first half hour of the show.  We also welcomed Springfield to the Liberty League with extended coverage and discussion.

Remember that we begin our live regular shows Sunday night at 7:30pm ET at http://inthehuddlle.com -- now five seasons strong!  Thanks for all of your support and for the support and assistance of the Sports Information Directors, Athletic Directors, Coaches and Players of the Liberty League.

Even were there only one, that would be one more than you'll find in Mayberry....Well, at least at Mayberry U. Mayberry State has Greek houses and just you wait and see...they will soon be D3.

Any insight on USMMA?

Triple option team with one of biggest and best running backs in the LL in JL Gosselin.  Undersized at line positions given body fat requirements to be in the Academy.  We picked SUS in this one in the ITH "bonus coverage" of the preseason show but the Mariners will upset some teams this season.

dlip's Liberty League picks for the week: By the way ITH thanks for mentioning dlip's blog. He appreciates it very much.  :) +k

Dickinson at Hobart: Hobart wins easily over a decent Dickinson team. 32-10

Salve Regina at Union College: Union wins 24-17. The Dutchmen may start slow but Salve will not be able to contain Union's run throughout.

WPI at Curry College: Curry, a traditional NEFC powerhouse and WPI a traditional Liberty League bottom feeder will fight this one out. It would be a great start for WPI if they could get the win, but they won't. It may be close, but Curry will win. 27-13

Merchant Marine Academy at Susquehanna University: MMA will surprise here and get the win. Susquehanna will not be able to contain JL Gosselin and MMA's option attack. MMA 24-21

St. Lawrence University at Utica College: I would love for St. Lawrence to get a win here but I think Andrew Beckwitt will be a bit too much even against a good SLU defense. SLU's offense will just not be able to keep up. Utica 28-10

Bridgewater State at Springfield College: This is not going to be fun for Bridgewater. The Pride of Springfield get rolling or literally running all over the place on Saturday. Pride 42-14

Ok, Hobart is up 17-0 just before Halftime. The Rev can go to bed and sleep well. No fits to be thrown yet.
