I would actually never predict a 10-0 season for Fisher...they never even ran the table with their best teams.   I'm just not sold that they have shown any struggles this year.  Winning both games in monkey stomp fashion doesn't exactly show weakness to me.  I was at the W&J game and you can speak of the score being close until literally the opening minute of the 4th quarter but Fisher was thoroughly in control throughout the game.  W&J were out gained by nearly 300 yards.  There were a couple of ridiculous blown calls (like saying Kramer fumbled the ball on W&J's 6 yard line when he was so very clearly down) that prevented the game from being decided by 30+ points.

As for the Pool C success - is there anywhere on the site that displays that kind of information?  I'd be interested in seeing a conference by conference breakdown.  I think that SJF alone has a 6-3 record in the playoffs as a Pool C since 2005.

I think you're right, and I admit this took me by surprise...I forgot that Fisher had gotten in a Pool C selection in both 2006 (Springfield Pool A) and 2007 (Hartwick Pool A), accounting for a bunch of those Pool C wins.  Incidentally, in both of those years, the E8's Pool A selection was eliminated earlier than Fisher (once actually BY Fisher).

That's interesting because I thought they were a Pool A in 2007.  If that's the case their record as a Pool C rises to 8-4.  They went 2-1 as a pool C in 2011, as did Salisbury who was the Pool A candidate.  A good year for the E8 with 2 teams in the Elite 8.

Thanks.  Not bad for a 5'11" offensive tackle with slow feet  :P

I had some good clashes with Ryan Aruck (think that was his name? the big goon of a DT?) in the 2007 CMU-Bart game.
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

I think they were a Pool C in  2007; they tied for the E8 title with 'Wick but lost head-to-head.  I can't imagine 8-2 'Wick got into the playoffs as a Pool C that year; I thought 'Wick was the Pool A selection and 9-1 Fisher got a Pool C bid.

That is correct...in 2007, Wick got the Pool A for the E8.  That year, they started off the year with a terrible loss to WNEC...only to follow it up with wins over Ithaca and Fisher in weeks 2 and 4.  Wick lost to Alfred a week after the Fisher win in a freaking shoot-out (pretty sure Boltus was over 550+ yards...and I think Keely was either at 300 yards, or just under).  Wick later beat Norwich, Springfield, and then Utica in the final regular season game (the 72-70, 4 x OT game) to finish the year 8-2 overall, with a  5-1 record in the E8.  Fisher finished at 5-1 in the E8 (9-1 overall), beating Alfred in the last weekend to give Wick the Pool A.  Ithaca also grabbed a Pool C (8-2 overall, with only losses to Fisher and Wick) and played MUC tough in the 1st round of the NCAA's, and Alfred (who had the H2H over Wick), finished at 4-2 in the league (7-3 overall)...and if I remember right, dropping their last 3 regular season games to Hobart, Ithaca, and Fisher...after being in the driver's seat and starting the year 7-0.

Man...that year had the best group of QB's that the E8 has ever had (Boltus, Kramer, Juvan, Keely, and Sharpe).

I remember following that game online.  That was my senior year at CMU, and that night - after my last regular-season game - my dad & I were sitting in my parents' hotel lobby following all of the D3 action.  I was fascinated by the Wick storyline that year and remember following the live stats updates online, hoping that Wick would win because I love a good underdog story.  They got bounced in the first round, one of the NEFC's only playoff wins, but still it was really cool to see Wick pull out close games after the stunning upset of Fisher and hang on for that Pool A bid.

Aruck was probably the best DT we've had since I played (late 90's into early 2000's) and was one of the best in the country during his Jr and Sr year.  Not getting more accolades was a crime as he set up two 100+ tackle ILB's by eating 2-3 blockers on every play.

pumkinattack

Speaking of great defensive players, I'd like to put an APB out on Tyre Coleman.  I know teams are hip to how good you area and scheming to get far away from you, but come on man...Go be the guy I've enjoyed eating up offensive players like sour skittles and putting nightmares in quarterbacks heads.  I've watched the first two games and barely seen you in the backfield.

Good stuff, Dlip.  Are you going to be on the SLU broadcast tmw?  If so, good luck.

Got my hob-mma preview up on CA.  Long week with a biz trip so had to wait until today.

Thanks JB Dlip appreciates the kind words. Gonna go read some Comin Atcha before bed pal. Dlip doesn't think he'll be doing color tomorrow but he sure as hell will be there rooting on Union. Good luck to your pumpkin heads tomorrow. Dlip sees them making a statement against a good MMA squad.

Congrats to SLU on their big win today at Union. Turnovers killed the Dutchmen today. SLU converted on all four Union TO's.

The LL is simply crazy! Springfield loses, RPI loses, and Union lose all in the same day to what are perceived as "lesser" opponents within the league. Just nuts. Dlip can't figure it out. Just more parity now Dlip guesses. It'll take a night or so for all this to sink in. Congrats again to all the winners today.

Wow.. Rochester with a big win at home vs 3-0 Springfield. Now 3-1. UR improves to 2-1 in front of a paltry 775 fans on a beautiful day.
Sr QB Dean Kennedy provides a balanced yet one man show on offense for the Yellow Jackets. Leading rusher and passer. 190 yards on the ground and 282 in the air. "Problem" is..it's all one guy.
Game was kinda under the radar.
Looks like UR scored on the final play to win 36-35. Game was tied 28-28 with 3:24 to go in the 4th. Looks like UR went for the 2 point conversion to win it instead of going to OT..unless it was a botched XP.

ITH radio

UofR tied it with no time left on a Kennedy TD pass.  Went for 2 and the win and barely converted.  Crazy game.

Reaching out to UofR to get Kennedy on the show to talk about what it's like to win 2 games in 2 wks by going for 2.  Nuts.

I would have thought it would have been less scoring, Rochester did see the option last week.
