In keeping with what much of Union's season has been, it was bizarre Two, yes two, botched field goal snaps turned into Union TD's with the quick thinking of holder #80 Joe Vito.

The second of these is in the Honorable Mention of the Play of the Week page:

When the LL awards come out this afternoon RPI kicker Andrew Franks should be a unanimous 1st team.  That  kid is just a beast!  He has the best leg of any D3 kicker I've ever seen in over 40 years of watching D3 football.  He's from Carmel, Ca which begs the question, how did he end up at RPI? He's definitely D1 worthy.  Also RPI lb #27 Brandon Cook was a huge standout Saturday.  I witnessed him repeatedly firing up his teammates on the sideline and then backed it up on the field with a key interception.  A real difference maker. He also deserves LL accolades.

I don't know much about RPI football. but I do know former HC Tim Landis had coached at St Marys CA..and San Jose St..before RPI.. so that is possibly where an RPI/ California connection was established.

We interviewed Franks after Wk 2 when he kicked 5 FGs, including one or two 49-50 Yders.  He comes on around the 45 minute mark and explains how he ended up at RPI:

I listened to your Sept.15 interview and he said he was visiting schools in the east and his mother prompted him to visit RPI for it's engineering.  He fell in love with the campus??? As a Union guy what's to love about the RPI campus? I personally visited RPI and Union one day years ago and Union won my affection hands down!( of course that was in 1967!)  You asked him if other schools had recruited him and he said not really.  Curious,  his RPI bio says he was all league, all county and ranked 43rd in the country as a high school kicker.  I wish you had followed up on that a little more.  Non the less a great get for RPI.

Understand regarding Cragg and the HOB staff getting the COY award.  B2B titles and undefeated records are hard to overlook.  Still, I give a TON of credit to the job Coach Raymond and his staff did this season.  To go from 0 to 7 wins in one season is pretty incredible.

Webb I agree is a slam dunk.  Not surprised Kennedy ended up as 1st team QB, he had the most total yards, passing, etc so I thought he may have had a shot at OPOY, but Webb is the right choice.  When do the 10 Gagliardi candidates get announced again?

Coleman had his numbers drop off from 2012 but the guy is still a beast.  Can't really argue there.  Obi Ngwaigwe is probably DPOY 1B IMO.

Thought may FY CB Gabe Smith may have been ROY but I can live with Dietsch.  Tons of tackles and will be an outstanding player for the Saints for years to come.

Troy might be a ****h0le, but RPI's campus is beautiful.  It has the feel of most really old prestigious Ivy League campuses.  Everyone is biased of course, but I don't think Union's campus is really all that spectacular in comparison.

"Coleman had his numbers drop off from 2012 but the guy is still a beast".  I agree no real surprises.  I didn't think Coleman was nearly as dominate this year as last though I only saw him once.  Franks, a no-brainer repeat but not unanimous?  Glad to see Brandon Cook as honorable mention.   No Union players on the first team for first time in LL history.(correct me if I'm wrong) I feel Casey Muse was Union's best and most deserving. LewDogg I agree but in 1967 the drive through downtown Troy turned me off.  Subsequently the drive down Union St. past "Dr's row" and my first glimpse of the "nipple", Nott Memorial, sealed the deal for me.

That is the largest electronic door entry keypad I've ever seen on a building. How do you punch the buttons to open the door?

That's only their brand new $141 million Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center.  It's a pretty incredible building actually, you may want to educate yourself on it:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Experimental_Media_and_Performing_Arts_Center

Union could have one but they just don't have the endowment or anonymous donations like RPI.
