dlip was there with the family and he was very surprised and excited by what the Dutchmen brought to the table. They looked like a completely different team to dlip (from the scrimmage vs West Conn last week) and played sound football throughout. Thomas was excellent, Kyle Reynolds is one of the top 10 receivers in the east, the D played tough, and the offensive line really showed us what they can do. Also dlip was impressed with the Union secondary which seemed much more organized and made much better reads than last week.

Congrats to Ithaca on the hard fought win. Their D stood tall at the end and made that "one last stand" that they needed to to get the W. slip also LOVES Butterfield Stadium. This is his second time there and it is definitely one of his favorite places to watch a D3 college football game!

dlip is very excited about and proud of this Union Football team!

I went to the St. Lawrence/Coast Guard game on Saturday.  I haven't seen St. Lawrence play live since 1997, so I don't have too much to compare them to, but they looked pretty good from what I saw.   Big defensive line and their dbacks were very good I thought.  Offensively their QB was decent, and they had some big WRs who were all TE types that were able to catch a lot of balls over the smaller Coast Guard defenders.

The old St. Lawrence teams when I played were usually very small sizewise with limited talent at the skill positions.  It is obviously different now, but overall I was pretty impressed with the Larries.

Any idea if St. Lawrence or Union my challenge Hobart this year in the LL race? I have a gut feeling that one of those two teams may shock the Statesman.

Not anymore. SLU fought off that nickname for a few decades and only oldtimers (like Pep) still call them the Larries. But you knew that. They're Saints.

Not a chance.  RPI is the worry this year.  Stability, talent, and resources.  RPI is gonna do well this year.

I'm not so sure.  Not a lot of MA guys on the roster Lewdogg.  Although it looks like they have Mikey from those old Life cereal commercials playing OLB.......

Mikey looks like they made him eat something nasty before that picture and he was so pissed.  More sad than anything.

Brief write up for Union's home opener against Utica College.

Good luck to Union today against Utica, looks like the Dutchmen have a solid team this year based on the Ithaca game. Too bad Conner Eck couldn't get you in the end zone last week(great Rye HS QB and today is big rivalry game for Rye with Harrison HS), exciting finish just fell short. Can't wait for the game against Hobart later in the season.
