Without Hobart playing this weekend, I thought I would watch Union on live video  get on track against Western New England. I was dissapointed that Connor Eck (I root for him as a Rye HS fan) was benched for another Freshman as Western New England comes back to take a 20-7 half time lead. As a LL fan, I was hoping Union would mount a come back until I heard the Union announcer take a crack at Hobart football. He asks the question of a half time guest.... which Football program would you rather have on a D3 level...A program with a .400 record for the last few years , or a program with a .900 record with a recent NCAA violation and a front page article in a national newspaper on sexual harassment . The guest is confused and thinks he is talking about FSU. Although the announcer never mentions Hobart, he says it is a team in the Liberty League, pretty much implying that Hobart has a dirty program. Although I am a Liberty League fan(and self admitted Hobart homer), I have now turned the video off and hope that Union gets CRUSHED .

Wow.  Was it Frank? I hope not.  I'd think he has more class than that.  No matter what, that is just ridiculous.  Hobart doesn't have a dirty program.  It's like saying Bates has a dirty program because they had an incident a few years back.  Union's program needs the dust blown off of it.  The coaching staff should just step down out of respect to a historically prominent program so the Administration doesn't have to make the decision.  If this interview actually happened as advertised, i'd be extremely embarrassed to be a Union person.

A replay of the interview will be on tmw's show.

I think it was, but you can listen to the broadcast replay on the radio show as ITH said they will replay the interview. If it was Frank, I think he owes the Hobart football coaching staff an apology, even though he never actually used the name...but it is pretty obvious(no one else is .900 ,  I am not sure if any of the other schools have had NCAA violations , but I know they have not had an article on the front page for sexual assault( no actual suit to date , by the way) . The interview also stated that the Union program is pristine from an academic and community service standpoint, which I think set up the implied negative  against the Hobart coaching staff as "non-pristine"( Hobart football has some excellent students and participates in many Geneva community service activities, in fact Cragg and his staff supports a different charity for each home game) . If I were the Hobart coaching staff I think I would refuse to participate on any show/interview with this announcer in the future . Oh BTW, I apologise that I wished that Union would get crushed in the second half, because I know many Union alums who have class and would not have framed a question in such a  way. I truly feel for the Union program because up until this game today they were competitive in every loss until the very end of each game. I think the Union coaching staff needs to really look in the mirror after the performance today which was not the Union football intensity I have seen in the past. I say if they can rally the team to beat RPI and Hobart this year, let'm come back for another year . But this performance(both football and announcer) certainly did not help the LL for conference comparisons.

It sounds like a legitimate question. What's better a losing program or a winning program that received national attention for having their players be accused of rape which the school tried to cover up? If you don't want people bringing it up then clean up your program.

Jackson are you even real?  You are an embarrassment to Union. Just shut your mouth and cut your losses. You guys are doing more damage than good.

Thank you. I won't even give the previous post legitimacy by responding. Let's just drop it from future posts in order to avoid some serious animosity.

Figured I would lighten it up for Jackson5 commenter, Union radio announcer and Union fans by offering the following for all Union football fans in the spirit of heeling , nothing else intended...("Putting It back together" by the REAL Jackson5). I wish Union luck in the future ....we have all suffered through tough times at some point....on and off the field....but as long as we keep D3 football as part of the overall educational experience in perspective ,  maintain good sportsmanship, respect our competitors and play football the right way for the joy and honor of clean ,yet intense, and fair competition ....which I believe Audino has done at Union.....all is good... the players will play and the recruits will come as they have since Union's first season in 1886...    :)

How is that an embarrassment to Union? Sounds like you have some have questions to ask the Hobart administration if you're that embarrassed by them that you can't listen to people ask questions about their football program.

So it sounds like your answer to the question is you'd rather have Unions program than Hobart's. No need for the outrage.

Jackson 5,I mistakenly thought you were a Union follower. I think you deserve the negative karma's you receive . The fact is, I would be proud to take either program and my main point is throwing stones( remember John 8:7 , perhaps part of your Intro to World Religions!) without knowing all of the facts , is not the way to make you feel better about one's own program... no outrage, I am at peace , just think it was an unfair shot at the Hobart coaching staff by the Union announcer. Enough said, I will move on to the games next week.

The point of the question is something that was brought up here last week. Most schools don't care how the team does as long as the team doesn't bring the school negative press. So even if the team is irrelevant in their conference each year  the school wouldn't fire the coach unless he lost control of the program. If the program had kids failing drug tests or flunking out or  being a danger to the general student body then they would call for him to be fired.

Hobart which is relatively unknown nationally was in the New York times with an article about how multiple football players were accused of rape and in the opinion of the victim the school did nothing about it. This is the type of negative press that multiple posters here said that they'd ask for the resignation of the head coach from.

So the interviewer was simply asking what would you rather have, a program that doesn't win but isn't causing image problems for the school or a successful program which is causing female students to reconsider applying to the school? I think it's a legitimate question and something that needs to be considered when discussing the job safety of D-3 coaches.

Jackson, go back to your home on troll island. And maybe read the Hobart story that came out from some other angles. It was investigated properly. There were no charges. This was discussed a few months ago. Hobart has a great coach and a clean program. They had an unfortunate incident on campus where some people involved played football, it was investigated and it's in the past. If Union wants to tout their present time sh!tty coaching staff by bashing another conference member, I hope they can sleep better at night. Union sucks. More now than ever.
