Wesleydad, I've been watching Wesley off and on this year, and think they are a stagg bowl caliper team, Like Rowan of old, will be happy to have them in the NJAC maybe it will force Rowan to step it up ! Good luck this Saturday I'll be watching this and others on line !

Limbs66

Underdogs again!! Go get 'em Bart! Don't worry if you win this week no one will think you have a chance next week either.

DVgradRUdad

I know Frank and Dave are talking with Wesley's SID about a potential broadcast of the game. Hope so b/c I'd love to see some video as unfortunately I can't travel up for the game due to a full dance card of kid and other activities this weekend.

Update - Frank as color man and Gordon Mann as PBP has been greenlit for Saturday's game. Wesley is providing camera operators (aka students most likely). Some final arrangements being made to accomodate / factor in likely rainy day and keeping folks dry / safe.

Great to hear.  Now anyone who wants to watch can get to see how good this *Hobart team is, or at least I hope they play to the level I think they are capable of.

but it appeared that a few teams I saw were able to hit big plays in the air against, them, they play soft coverage and man up when blitzing and allow the athletic secondary to try to make plays, but they do tackle well.  They have probably have one of the top 3 receivers in all of D III aside from Kumerow and Davis, when given open field, most likely will take it to the house or just blow right pass you on a go or post. So Hobart has to make solid tackles, do not take any tackle for granted, no lofting, and have to make those key one on one tackles, ....................................  I think they played some okay Division III teams, such as Rowan, Thomas More, and Salisbury, but I think that Rowan was not as good as year's past and slip into the playoffs, Thomas More proved that it could not beat a W&J team that got recently triple monkey stomp against Mount Union and ................................................................................ Thomas More was an above average team as far as comparing to the rest of Division III and played admirable against them for 3 quarters (although it was the 1st game) Wesley like Mount Union may be worried about not playing their starters for a whole game, if it makes it that far.

a few things:

* Agree completely about the soft coverage of Wesley.  Thomas More was able to strike quickly in the 1st Quarter through the air after holding Wesley to 3 and out.
* Wesley's WR is VERY good and likely the best athlete Hobart has seen this year.. until the Wesley defense takes the field.  That Kapepula is also at a level you don't see in D3 very often.
*You absolutely have to tackle well against Wesley.  They do hit the deep ball with Koudossou but with his speed, a short pass can turn into an absolute bomb if you don't tackle well.  Did you see the nominations for Play of the Week last week?  Ben Martin's run is a perfect example of HORRIBLE tackling.  Take nothing away from the kid, he made it happen and didn't give up when the MIT defense got their hands on him but it was also 12 seconds of atrocious tackling.
*Not that it matters a whole lot because it was Week 1, but Wesley played all 60 minutes of the Thomas More game.  Both teams were still fighting at the end.  Wesley was outscored 13-7 in the fourth stanza that game.
*Side note:  Thomas More and W&J were in a 3 point game at the end of the 3rd Quarter this year on W&J's campus.  Thomas More's QB was injured and they had to go with a freshman who hadn't played much from that point on.  3 INT's by the kid turned it into a 24 point win for W&J.  Other than that -- I view (and so do others) that W&J and Thomas More are essentially in the same spot as far as program strength.

Can Hobart win?  Absolutely.

Basically, if Hobart wins this game it will because they were able to efficiently move the ball through the air.  I'm not sure how much success they'll have if they just line up and run the ball -- they could experience SOME success that way, I guess.  Thomas More had the best RB in the country, coming off a 2,000 yard / 28 TD Junior season and Wesley held him to 3.8 YPC and out of the endzone.   If the Hobart QB is efficient, we'll see a game.

On defense, Hobart needs to tackle well.  Keep Koudossou in front of them and rally up to limit his YAC.  And find a way to make Callahan uncomfortable.  If he settles in and there are MT's the scoreboard is going to light up.  If Hobart is scoring, this isn't a death bell to them -- but if they are having issues offensively, it will be a 28 point blitz in a quarter type of game.  Just ask Mount Union fans what that looks like after the National Semis last year in Alliance.

Rain chances in Dover for Saturday have gone from 20% on Tuesday to 80% now. Is there a god?

They cannot do what LINFIELD did and get up by 20 at half and then get pounded the second half. Wesley big, fast, battle tested team. I'm rooting for Hobart because I like to say the name.

The rain is not the worst of it. The wind will be blowing ,most likely across the field and the Wesley QB and receivers adjust  real well to the conditions.

Hobart fans. Dress warm and bring rain gear because it will be nasty in Dover if the rain is coming off the  Delaware bay

Oh I agree completely.  My post was more of what the game story would be, if Hobart shocks the D3 World.  I believe this is Wesley's best shot at the Walnut and Bronze.

Hobart team and fans totally relate to hearty weather conditions , no problem. A little sleet and snow showers would really feel like home.Bring it on...the uglier the better, oh and our weather capes are really warm and sartorially splendid ;D
