Predictions this week:

RPI beats the Larries in Larryville (#1 ranked in LL falls) as Avery engineers a dramatic 4th quarter drive for a 28-24 win.

Hobart beats Springfield at home 31-21 as Hobart defense starts to really feel the loss of LB Jacob Stanley against the run and almost let the Pride back in the game.........Statesmen are happy to get on the bus back to Geneva.

Rochester floats by the Mariners 28-10 and rebounds from a disappointing loss in Canton and looks forward to RPI next week.

Union edges WPI for the first win of the season 28-24 . Dlip breathes a sigh of relief as the Dutchmen plug the dyke for at least one week.

The race to the top is still wide open.

Nice show this week.
Thx - the Delong interview ranks as one of the best we've had in 8 seasons. The Newmac / LL implications discussion very relevant to future and viability of playoff life for teams in LL in a cpl seasons. Fact LL hasn't announced already is a big issue.

Can you give us a rundown of what you are talking about?  Or tell me what time during the ITH podcast that Delong speaks?  (No disrespect to the ITH program, but I really don't like listening to breakdowns of old LL games or future LL matchup talk, but do enjoy listening to coaches/AD's talking about their programs in general, or leagues/d3 issues)

Delong joins at 21:35 mark. We congratulated him for the 200th win and we discussed the Union game before transitioning into the NEWMAC transition, travel and recruiting at the D3 level. We wrapped on discussing some of the more memorable players he's coached over his career (e.g., Chris Sharpe, John Cena, Kevin Cahill, etc) before wrapping up previewing the Hobart game.

3-1 Last week, really thought Union was going to take that one.

Without further adieu...

12:00 Hobart @ Springfield

The Statesmen really picked up their offensive game last week against a solid WPI defense. If they can continue playing like that then they will finish the season undefeated in liberty league play. Still not sure what the QB situation will be (If Sweeney is back) plus not sure if true or not, but heard MLB Jacob Stanley may be out. Regardless, Springfield simply does not have the offensive prowess to compete. When you run the triple option and are getting pummeled, it is hard to mentally stay in it. I like Hobart easy, 31-10.

1:00 USMMA @ Rochester

This is actually an interesting matchup. Kings Point will always be a tough disciplined team, and boasts a good defense. Rochester started out hot and went into last week's matchup against SLU knowing a win would put them in the discussion for playoffs. SLU's defense bottled up the UofR offense and shut them out. Games like that can really take a toll on a teams' pride. However, Rochester knows they aren't completely out of it and they do have this one at home. I like Rochester to take the high road and come out firing, Rochester wins 34-20.

1:00 RPI @ St Lawrence

In this weeks' GOTW, the engineers will travel up to canton, NY for homecoming. Last year, we had the same situation as both teams were 4-1 2-0 and a win meant they were the main competitor to Hobart. RPI is really clicking on all cylinders and SLU is starting to get their identity back by playing strong defensive football. If Avery can get in a rhythm the engineers have a real shot to take this one. If SLU can run the ball when needed and put together sustained drives, they can very much take this one. It will be close, SLU has forced a turnover in almost 30 straight games, if they can continue to do so tomorrow, they win this one close. I'll take the grass-field advantage SLU wins 27-20.

1:30 WPI @ Union

Both teams are at a low point in the season. WPI starting off 3-0 and losing their past 1, Union still looking for there first win. I still just do not get it, Union has the talent but STILL can't put it together. I want to pick them so bad here like i do more than i should, but I think WPI bounces back behind a big game from grasis. WPI 21-20.

Great pics D3pc. Dlip likes your style. Dlip is really hoping the U get their first W today against WPI. He thinks you are correct in that it will be a close one. Honestly Dlip just doesn't even know what the **** else to say...just going to enjoy the beautiful fall day on homecoming and some D3 football.

By the way...Dlip will be the guy with the ****ing defibrillator watching from the 50 just in case they lose... ;)

2010 all over again

That means a matchup with Mount Union, unfortunately.

D3pc

Only hope is for SLU/RPI winner to run the table and finish 9-1 to avoid a matchup like that.

SLU is up 24-0 right now. I think it's doable for them to go 9-1. Springfield, WPI, Hobart, and USMMA are their last four games.
