I, for one, hope LD11 comes back. He's as guest now, which means he unregistered. This is sad to me. Just another good poster fallen by the waist-side. Unfortunate, really, because we've lost a bit of the "soul" of the eastern region over the past several years. Maybe people just aren't interested in discussion boards of this form anymore, I guess(??). Anyway, LD11, my e-mail is in my profile so if you read this and aren't coming back send me a line sometime, because I did find you pretty funny.

What he said.  ;D  Post Patterns is far removed from what it once was. Heck, every other day, Pep would read of posters spitting coffee all over their keyboard. Pep knows for a fact that folks are still drinking coffee....but spitting it all over their keyboard? Not so much anymore.

Bartman dlip would like to send you a PM but you blocked him. Would you mind unblocking his ass so he can send you one with some Bart questions?

This made me laugh uncontrollably for some reason. Maybe I just have the giggles.

I wouldn't worry about LD.  I just checked with him, he is doing ok.  Still manic and locked up in the north woods of New England, but when the snow thaws, he will be back like a Grizzly out of hibernation.

Anyway, I was looking at Union's website for a possible replacement for Audino next year, and it doesn't look like they have an offensive coordinator listed.  Maybe they will go outside?

Brings up what could be the question of the off-season.....is the Union job a good job? Is there enough support (administrative / financial / admissions) to get Union back to the top of the LL?

The better question about if Union is a good job is not if the support is there to get Union back to the top of the LL, it's whether the administration expects to be at the top of the LL. In order to be a good job they only have to provide the support commensurate to the expected level of success. Defining success as having a .500 or better program that causes no campus problems and graduates its young men can be a very good job even if it leaves some alumni dissatisfied...

I think the question now is getting Union 1 or 2 big wins down the stretch, and making sure morale doesn't turn the entire program into something like the Maine nescac schools turned into.  Once you have 2 or 3 seasons where you win 0-2 games like Union is doing, your entire program (recruiting/morale/support) gets killed.  And it is a hole that is sometimes impossible to get out of, no matter what your admissions/financial aid department does.  That's why you see many d1 schools take the hit on coaches salaries when they see things going the wrong way.

Well said Utes. If the Dutchmen go winless, or even only defeat MMA (which is certainly no ****ing gimmie) people will really start breathing fire. The people dlip sits with now, some alum, some Doid locals like dlip, who have been watching Union football for at least 25-30 plus years, are just beside themselves (not that that matters to anyone important). At this juncture there is no way of sugarcoating anything anymore. The football culture at Union has changed and continues to change each week. To dlip, last week's loss (he will write about it tonight on his blog) may have just been the bottom of the barrel. However, dlip thinks he has said that following every game starting with the poor loss to WCONN.

At this point dlip is just supporting the Dutch anyway he can and trying to focus on the hard work, sacrifice, and commitment all the current players are giving each day. dlip thinks the world of those kids and admires them as student/athletes. dlip had many opportunities to play hockey in college but blew them all because he was beyond immature. dlip can't be honest with himself or anyone else if he says that he ever thought it would get this bad.

Okay, so only two league games tomorrow as the other 4 teams now have their bye. Unfortunately, not the best matchups we will see this year, but i wouldn't sleep on these games either.

12:00 Hobart @ Union

Let's face it, Hobart is as low as it has been in years now. Compared to other teams, Hobart's low is still pretty high, but for the statesmen...it's low. Lasts week's decision to go for the win and coming up short all but ended their playoff hopes, and now they get a road trip to 0-7 Union. I don't expect them to rollover here, but it also wouldn't surprise me too much. Union has talent. We have seen it, we just have not seen it consistently. A win here would make the Dutchmen season, they will be playing hungry and throwing the kitchen sink at Hobart I presume. This game will be telling of the control the Coach Cragg has on his guys going forward. I'll be honest, I don't know how to call this one. We have a bad hobart offense with a great defense. An 0-7 Union team with the ability for explosive plays and playing with nothing to lose. kind of sad that I consider this a toss up.      Give me Hobart, and I say that because the league needs all the help they can get in terms of SOS. I know opponents' opponents matter, but not as much. Hobart wins in an ugly, high scoring (really?) game 38-31.

1:00 WPI @ St. Lawrence

WPI makes the long trip up to Canton in a matchup that pits 5-2 (2-2) vs 6-1 (4-0). I'm happy to see WPI gaining some ground, and I'm a fan of Grasis in the backfield. They have a stout defense and a receiver that is leading the league in yards/TDS. This would be a HUGE win for the engineers with two winnable games remaining after this week (UofR, SC). However, SLU has been getting better and better each week. If it weren't for two long TD runs for springfield's qb last week (and i know you can't just take those away) they dominated the pride. Lefflebine is starting to look like himself, and the saints have owned WPI of late. I think vegas would give the saints  -8.5 points in tomorrows matchup, and i'll take it. SLU wins 30-16 and gets the magic number to 1.

Congrats to Hobart today on the dominating win over Union in Schenectady. Hobart looked very poised and fluid on offense throughout the game. Dlip is happy for QB Shane Sweeney on his excellent game. The hometown kid from Geneva lit it up. What a great story. Best of luck to Hobart on the remainder of the season! ****, does anyone honestly believe they could defeat the Pumpkinheads on Halloween day?
