Our preseason show is up:

http://www.blogtalkradio.com/ith/2016/08/30/in-huddlle--liberty-league-football-talk-show

Please let us know what you think. If you care about specific team previews (min start points) a cheat sheet is below:

Union -         22:00
USMMA -     31:00
SC                38:00
ROC             47:00
WPI              56:00
HOB             66:00
RPI               76:00
SLU              86:00

Good stuff.  One thing I noticed though is that the first archived podcast that came up was one from 2 years ago for some reason (from that link).  If you go to archived shows, this show is the second one down.

Frank mentioned that Union dropped the JV schedule, and I also heard that Springfield dropped JV games for all of their sports this year, (as a cost saving measure I guess).  I wonder is this is happening at other places?
Ditto your remarks on ITH pre season show......as far as JV programs, Hobart has maintained JV schedule , although fairly light with 3-4 games

I assume Ithaca still has a program, although the schedule isn't listed on the website.  I guess the only costs you have are the actual buses, and the $15 lunch money we got if I remember correctly.  Enough short road trips to make it happen for short money I assume (Cortland, Hartwick, Hobart),  Alfred, SJF and St. Lawrence are all a little longer trips but ones IC has made in the past.

AUPepBand

Alfred has added some games to its JV schedule in recent years. Mind you, occasionally a game will get cancelled for various reasons, but Pep has copied the 2016 AU JV schedule and pasted it below:

9/4    HOBART    Alfred, NY    12 PM
9/11    at St. John Fisher    Pittsford, NY    1 PM
9/18    UTICA    Alfred, NY    1 PM
9/25    at Ithaca    Ithaca, NY    1 PM
10/9    at Cortland    Cortland, NY    1 PM
10/23    Erie Community    Alfred, NY    1 PM
10/30    at Buffalo State    Buffalo, NY    1 PM

That sort of tells ya some of the programs that continue to have JV teams. Heck, with 140+ in preseason camp, it's almost mandatory in order for a program to retain players. What good is all the hard work without some PT?

On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!
...Fight, fight for Alfred, A-L-F, R-E-D!

Only picking LL/E8 matchups:

Morrisville 14  St. Lawrence 21 (last minute score for Larries win)

Union        17  Ithaca          28 (closer than expected)

Hobart      28  Brockport      21 (Hobart gets on bus quickly after ref misses interference call on pass to Andrews for possible tie)

28-0 St. Lawrence at the half. Both teams started slow, but SLU kicked it up a notch in the 2nd quarter, scoring four TDs. Two short runs, an pick-6, and a hail mary as time expired in the half.

WNEU 19 Springfield 10

1st half thoughts:

Springfield- QB Jake Eggeltine is out after what looks like a lower body injury on the Pride's lone TD run. Pride O very similar to last year. Potential to break off a big run and/ or grind it up the middle yet they haven't been all the cohesive and consistent. Pride D looks full of athletes but as usual it seems as if there stops come as a result of their opponents offensive miscues.

WNEU- also filled with athletes and they definitely have some play makers. Impressed with the QB and especially the O-line. They dominated the Pride D and again, when they were unsuccessful it seemed a result of their own miscues as opposed to solid defensive play. There D also looks decent (although a tough read against the triple option). Pride wore them down a bit in the 2nd Q and scored.

Unless things change a ton in the second half WNEU should win this game handily. We shall see...

Great to see SLU up big. Keep it up Saints!

I think that QB is on crutches on the sideline...

Not good for a team that depends on the QB as much as they do...

Awful for the Springfield QB. Always want LL teams to do well, and you never want to see a big player go down with injury. Hope for a not-too-serious situation. Tough loss to a probably pretty tough WNEU team.

SLU handles Morrisville with ease with all scoring coming in the 2nd quarter. Both teams did miss a field goal, but a dominate performance from the SLU defense and a very solid season debut for QB Richardson.

Good to see WPI pull out the victory in week one.

LL teams 2-1 so far. I hate rooting for opponents but lets face it, in what may be a top-heavy year, need all teams to win.

Just got back from tonight's game against Morrisville.  Defense was lit tonight.  CBW picking up where he left off, and Dietsch back in full form after his season ending injury last year.  Very impressed with Richardson as well, lots of arm strength and had a few nice runs.

Congrats to the Saints on a solid performance on both sides of the ball and avenging last years loss. WPI engineers a win , and Springfield needs work as WNE looks like a playoff team already. More tomorrow.....

That's a shame about Jake E but that's the problem with the triple option - QB's get hit a lot. Eglintine got the same opportunity to come in and play after O'Brien got hurt last season, so it's sort of history repeating itself and now DeSimone is thrust into taking over for the season.

Saints looked impressive but struggled with penalties and a few stops and starts early in this one. Still no denying this team has the personnel to make a run.

And how about WPI? A very exciting OT finish with a lot of action back and forth. I didn't think MIT would be that strong but they came to play which says a lot about the program Coach Chad has built. They'll be a tough out going forward.

3 games today. Good luck to the U, Bart and RPI.

Good luck to the "LL remainers" today ......Statesman contain Andrews and you win!  Go Union , scare the p*** out of Ithaca as they are not expecting it (no LL love for Ithaca until next year)....RPI let's see you come out of the chute strong today....After watching WPI and Springfield , not sure the "LL leavers" are that strong .....

I wouldn't get too down on SC or WPI just yet. WNE will prob go 10-0 and they struggled to score on the Pride D. Really 1st TD was bc of a ST mistake. The question mark is how far the Pride O goes without Eglintine as QB.

WPI went on the road vs a (soon to be) conf rival. That series is now 7-6-1 in favor of WPI so you had to guess MIT got way up for this home opener. Even if they don't win much down the road they'll be a tough out. Their QB is only a SO so they could get back to playoffs soon.
