Can't watch the HOB/ITH game because it's "premium content"...

Boo to you HWS...
The views expressed in the above post do not represent the views of St. John Fisher College, their athletic department, their coaching staff or their players. I am an over zealous antagonist that does not have any current connection to the institution I attended.

That's some bull**** if you ask dlip. He believes they should stream these games for free no matter who the opponent is. That goes for Union and everyone.

SLU home games are all free streaming video now. They started that last year I think.

Nice. Pep remembers paying to see the Saxons at Leckonby back when AU was still playing them. Pep stands corrected. Ain't the first time....

Attended the Hobart/Ithaca game last night which was a convincing win  23-3 for the Statesmen. The first half  was fun to watch while the weather was good and the second half was dull as hell due to the high winds and rain. Other than a good opening drive by the Bombers, Hobart was able to contain the Ithaca offense that was pretty plain vanilla. I actually think Ithaca could have run on Hobart in the first half but the Hobart DC seemed to anticipate the IC play calling with timely blitzes or coverage schemes on passing downs. I think the OL of Ithaca could handle Hobart DL but linebacker and corner play by Hobart along with timely pass drops by Ithaca receivers stalled any drive after the initial field goal drive. Frankly the Endicott offense was better than IC.
As far as the Hobart Offense , Sweeney made some sweet passes in the first half to Shed to jump to a 16-3 first half lead. This was the best defense that Hobart played this year especially the front seven as the Hobart OL had a hard time sustaining a rush game but they had no problem protecting Sweeney all day. This was a great test against a strong defense, but even so, I think Hobart would have scored in the mid 30's if the weather held.
It will be interesting to see how Ithaca does against the rest of the E8 this year and what this win meant on a relative basis. Feeling really good about this Hobart team that will be deadly in good weather with the Sweeney/Shed show( and if they double Shed Hobart has plenty of  talent). A  positive for the Statesman run game was that in the fourth quarter Hobart found a tough back in Letezia who  broke the IC back by some critical first downs running like a balling ball and pushing the IC linebackers back for some tough yards. Happy to be 3-0 but a long way to go.

Congrats to the Larries on the win against Endicott. Shutting out a Dewall coached team is impressive.
WPI looks strong and RPI is back on track.

Congrats to your Pumpkinheads on the big win last night Bartman! No question IC has a solid defense and Bart seemed to do what they needed to in the first half to get the W. Congrats!

Dlip,
It is always great to beat the E8, especially following the mess Hobart left in Ithaca last year. I think if Hobart wins the next 20 in a row against the Bombers we will even the historical series :o. I was hoping your boys could have hung on against WNE yesterday. Looking forward to the first league game against the Dutchmen next week. It will be a good game to measure the potential and progress of each team.

Attended my first East Region game with Jonny Utah and LewDogg yesterday at MIT.  Turnovers killed MIT.  RPI has some nice weapons in the backfield and the RPI defense was opportunistic, to say the least.  Not sure who the QB coach is in Cambridge but their QB would do a lot better if he set his feet before throwing.

Well last week I was ecstatic with Union's win and raved about how they made no mistakes. This week against WNE they weren't so clean. Three mistakes were the difference in Union possibly pulling off a big upset victory. 1)With Union up 6-0 2nd qtr. a blocked punt. I'm not sure whether it was an attempted fake but after pulling the ball down and starting to run he had second thoughts and tried to punt(he was not rushed and it was from his own 29).  2) Given a short field a WNE TD and on the play a targeting penalty against Union's starting safety which disqualified him from participating in the remainder of the game.  WNE exploited the weakened Union D in the second half. 3) After WNE scored on their opening drive of the second half to take a 13-9 lead, Union QB Nick Cascione threw an interception on Union's first, second half play...A bad special teams play, a bad penalty (one of only 2 total for the game), and their only turnover and to their credit a strong WNE team took advantage. A late Union rally fell short as Cascione left the game 4th qtr. with an apparent leg injury     Union SHOULD NOT have won this game but they certainly COULD have (Utes). Nice job by the Dutchmen to play WNE tough.

Watched the Hobart JV beat the Fisher JV 37-14 this afternoon. Drach's offense is working on all levels as both Hobart Freshman QB's look good......there will be life after Sweeney..... defense looked good as well, so future looks bright...Great to see the strong support the Fisher fans gave to their team on the road

Happy to read some JV results on here. Ironically, AU jayvees, who had until this year lost a lot of football games, many of them lopsided, actually beat Hobart and St. John Fisher by identical 28-21 scores in their first two outings this year. Today, the Utica jayvees edged the home-standing Saxons, 28-26.

Pep was amazed at the athleticism and talent of an AU receiver....made a couple of unbelievable first half catches, the second of which set up AU's first score to pull the Saxons within 14-7 at halftime.

+k to Pep for caring about the JV programs.....Hobart only has one more at Utica ......any band for the jayvee at AU?
