According to Brockport's facebook page they not only will be playing Hobart and Ithaca again this season, they will also be adding St Lawrence to the schedule. The last week of the season (11/11/17) at St Lawrence. That's 3 LL opponents on their schedule. I don't think they've played the "Saints" ( why do I want to call them the "Larries", have they ever been that ?) since 1993, when a young Brian Angelichio roamed the field for St Lawrence.

Can you point me to that? It would be helpful for us.

I saw BP announce that on Twitter. It was a good move by SLU to book a game with them. Hobart is still looking for a 10th game.

Thanks. You'd be surprised how impossible that was to find in searching. Looks like the regular Brockport athletics page doesn't like this page, even.

Hobart has their 2017 schedule up, although they are still trying to book a 10th game in Week 2 or 9.

Maybe now this is up that means they've decided nine is ok but who knows?

I believe some local (Upstate) schools like SJF, Utica and Buff St have open dates in Wk 2. West Conn does also and they've played Union the last couple of seasons.

Selfishly, I'd like to see Hobart take on St. John's who supposedly is looking for a Wk 9 game. Would be a huge, playoff caliber regular season match up if it happened (but highly unlikely).

dlip is super ****ing pumped about the Dutchmen's 2017 schedule (especially the OOC games). Although 6 of the games will be on the road and a couple too far for dlip to travel he likes that there are 10 games and some new faces. dlip thinks the level of competition Coach Behrman has scheduled fits perfectly into what Union is trying to do (and will be able to do) rebuilding their program. Man dlip loves him some Union Football. He also loves the addition of the storied Ithaca Bombers to the Liberty League.

The Dutchmen will travel up to Bangor to face Husson, then welcome former league foe USCGA, then hit the road to DC, Milton Mass, and the middle of nowhere in mid-western NY consecutively to face the likes of Gallaudet, The Purple Drank, and SUNY Mo'ville.

dlip feels there is a lot to be excited about in Shocktown this upcoming season. Taking one step at a time, looking for growth, and building a foundation for Union Football!

Let's ****ing go U!

Union also playing Ithaca 2nd to last game I see.  Ithaca had the advantage (I assume) of keeping several E8 teams with the open date that those teams would have had by not playing Ithaca (non conference games vs. Alfred, SJF, Brockport, Utica, and Cortland.)

We were having a conversation about this as a team this morning as I was punching this schedule into the site:
http://www.d3football.com/teams/Union/2017/index

You may be pumped but it's an amazingly weak schedule. Union could go 5-0 against this group and finish 6-4.

Absolutely Pat, dlip concurs with your statement 100%. However, looking at how far we fell as a program and remembering how poorly that felt, all dlip is looking at is positives for the program. At this point dlip is not concerned about the SOS (which dlip has always been a huge fan of) but he is concerned with the program continuing to grow and move forward like we did last season. Honestly, the slower the better.

This Dutchmen fan, who loves the tradition of Union Football with all his heart believes wholeheartedly that it will take some time, and rightfully so, before Union even thinks about being a part of that second tier of D3 programs like dlipp believes they once were (at one point in time). dlip feels that building the foundation of the program with some wins, some success on the football field, regardless of the opponent, will bring back positive feelings around the program (which we felt again last year for the first time in quite awhile). At this point, IDHO we have no business trying to play with the big boys and even worrying about our SOS until we have put in the work and time needed to sustain success both on and off the field. Maybe in a year or two our SOS may become relevant again, important again. However 6-4 is welcomed by dlip and some confidence and success for the players far outweighs the risk of trying to step up too fast. Time to be humbled and accept where we are at.

To be honest, and this is nothing against the current players at Union, but coming from where we were, dlip doesn't even think we have the right to feel we are above any of the teams on the schedule. This is really where Union is IDHO.

I think filling a 10 game schedule was probably Unions main goal for this year.  I assume they will seek out some E8 teams in the near future fore some OCC games.

I like your take Dlip.

As fans, we obviously want our teams to be the best they can. And losses can be amazing games too. (My all-time favorite Bomber game that I attended might have been their 1994 Semifinal loss to W&J) But there's also something to be said for just the fun of watching your team winning a game, and not worrying about how good the team is, or the SOS or what it all means. Wins are fun. This is especially true if they haven't been terribly successful in recent years.

I mean, I guess if you were playing like, College of Faith, to the point where the game is essentially a glorified scrimmage, there'd be little joy in the win. But other than that, I say, enjoy the wins, Dlip

Dan Swanstrom's Twitter feed is fun to follow. Judging by his tweets, IC's brought in four players from NY, one from Philly, and one from Fla. so far. Nothing in these numbers is super notable thus far, but I'll be interested to see how it continues.

The Ithaca schedule:
http://www.d3football.com/teams/Ithaca/2017/index
The Bombers could almost claim dual citizenship in the E8 for next year.

The Hobart schedule:
http://www.d3football.com/teams/Hobart/2017/index
Still just nine for the moment.

I mean, I know I'll see them next year, but I was hoping for RPI/Rochester to be home games. Seeing new teams is fun

Yes I follow him too, also a bunch of NJ guys mentioned with some funny memes.

I can't lie to say I'm excited about some new blood in the program.  It will be interesting to see two storied programs like Union and Ithaca with young coaching staffs in the same league.  RPI and St. Lawrence as well have new coaches who are trying to make an impact.
