I see the Ithaca website has removed a few coaches from the "2016" staff, including former OC Ryan Heasley, who I assumed would not be returning.  Also missing is long time JV coach Dan Elberty.  WR coach Tom Coughlin remains, so I wonder if Swanstrom is bringing in a new OC or is he going to train/teach Coughlin his own offense/philosophy?

So I see that Buffalo State will likely be playing football (only) in the Liberty League beginning in 2018, although apparently voting hasn't taken place yet(?)
The bolt from the Empire 8 will result in the E8 and LL each having seven teams and thus retaining the conference AQs.

Given his offensive background, I suspect Swanstrom may simply call the plays himself. I mean, he's going to add more staff obviously. But my guess is he may call the Xs and Os himself

Yep I could see that.  Kind of a daunting task for a 1st year coach but maybe at the d3 level it is possible.

I'm unfamiliar with hiring timelines for transitions. Is it unusual for a staff to only have four coaches listed at this time of the year?

Spring practice begins about now so the full staff is usually assembled by now, even in the case of new head coach (unless someone just left). Looking at Ithaca's website, they appear to be missing a few coaches as you said. Swanstrom/ Coughlin may handle the OC/WR/QB jobs between the two. What is glaringly absent from the offensive staff is an OL coach, obviously very important heading into spring on field drills. There is also no RB coach listed.
Defensively they have a DC and a DL coach. The DC will either coach as well the LBers or DBs. So whichever one he doesn't will require an additional coach. So they are down 1 coach on defense. Maybe they are just not listing them or the hires will be announced this week sometime.

This is slightly off topic, but it's the offseason so forgive me.

The Mississippi State/UConn game got me thinking about Rowan-Mount. I always said I'd rather have been Rowan, who was the only team to beat Mount over 7 years, than Pac Lutheran, who smited Rowan in the Stagg that season. I kind of feel the same way about Mississippi State. Where do you guys fall?

Few people will remember either of the runner ups. The runner ups will always remember being so close but not bringing home the hardware. I'll take being a champion over simply having a big win any day of the week. You play to win championships. Knocking off the big dog is nice, but winning it all is the goal.

I would rather be the South Carolina, but people will probably remember Miss. State more?

Some people (a) have alerts set up on their phone (like myself) for accounts that tweet... so they can get those updates without getting their phone up and running... and (b) might have something like TweetDeck (like myself) which has a column just for particular accounts, hashtags, etc. and this would allow them to see updates.

This is a Twitter account with 3,000 followers total. I imagine the number of people who are relying on the feed to provide them PBP updates of a game—and who would not use livestats for that if Twitter wasn't updating—is vanishingly small.

Well my original comment was about Hobart's d1 lacrosse program.  I would think it would be in their best interest to be as active as possible on various forms of social media.  I assumed if Duke, Ithaca College and most other d1 lacrosse programs tweet out score changes with small details, Hobart would too.

I think the big difference is what you are looking for.  Do you just want a score, or do you want some sort of play by play and/or stats.  If I just want the score, I'll save the 30 seconds (yes those seconds do matter to me when all I want is a score) and go to twitter.  If I'm doing something where I can't be looking at my phone for long (or even short periods of time), I will set up an alert to send me score changes (on twitter or my scoremoblie app)  If I want to see how things are unfolding in a game, I will use livestats (I only go to livestats for Ithaca football games that aren't on video and once when IC baseball was in the College WS).

Hobart Cuse is on tonight. Statesmen SID has tweeted two times in first half to the 3k followers, SU has tweeted over 9 (one for each goal and a cpl for key plays) in first half alone (they have about 44k followers). Hobart Lax twitter feed hasn't tweeted at all.

Bart has a D1 lax program. but a D3 SID and staff. I'm sure SU has a lot of staff on hand, including students / alums who are working social media for this one.

That would have been a huge win, thought Syracuse may have been in for a letdown after a big win this past weekend.

Hobart's man down is terrible this year after being #1 in the nation in 2016. Shooting was bad too. Top 4 attackmen went 5-40. Can't beat a team like SU like that.

Great crowd and energy at the Boz tho. Rising SR WR Brandon Shed was interviewed during broadcast and apparently will be meeting with NFL scouts on 4/10. Wish him the best of luck!

That Mariano from Cuse is one of the best man up scorers in the country so I wouldn't be so disappointed.
