Which ranking was that? PFF didn't rate him high this season but loved Dotson. Either way from all the games I attended or watched he did have a solid season. He probably would have kept playing thru the injury too if the Bucs hadn't eliminated themselves in early Oct.

Made sense to shut him down, so they did, and he'll be back and better than ever for what's a critically important 4th season.
ITH, yes the ranking was from PFF, and Ali was #7 Center, and you are 100% right that Dotson was ranked 6 points higher than Ali and #7 at Tackle, I was surprised by this and missed the Dotson ranking before posting....in any event Ali has made the transition to Center and I still wish the Giants could steal him from the Bucs....it was his childhood team and selfish on my part, of course...if the injury is not significant, I would expect the Bucs will sign him early......Whittfoot forever ;D

Brandon Shed #85 for the National team in the NFLPA game at Rose Bowl tomorrow, 4pm on FS1, noticed he put on 10 pounds to 205, hope it makes him stronger at same speed...

Machiavelli

The mystery poster was not Ali Marpet! It was his roommate's cousin's stepdad's girlfriend! She was a computer genius, much like the Hugh Jackman character in Swordfish, who stayed with the bunkmates one night, hacked into Ali's computer with a complicated password detection algorithm and made some fantastic posts on the d3 message boards. It is she, the mysterious genius, who caused all of this.

But agree on IAMHUGE, he was just a man amongst boys and I would watch that family reality TV show like it was The Situation and Pauly D all over again. HUUUUUUUUGE! The best part was tracking that dudes posts on like Alabama and Florida message boards peddling his kid's youtube highlight video. He was a Mike Tolbert in the making.

iamhuge is the GOAT imo.

Ali never posted btw - I'm pretty sure I know who it was, but it definitely wasn't him. Funny story, regardless.

Come on, don't start that.  I've been doing internet fraud investigations for 10 years and those posts and subsequent actions had every red flag you could have!

Iamhuge wasn't in the same category but was a classic nonetheless.  He didn't pretend to be someone else, just a larger than life character who came and went and I have to admit I miss that crazy bastard.  His kids play for the Steelers right?

I stand corrected.

I also heard he just bought the Empire State Building with all the stock market surges.....

I can testify that ITH has a real personal relationship w/Ali (and his family).  His word is good there.  I don't personally know myself, but he does have a brother...

Shed looked good, 2 catches for 2 first downs and broke 2 tackles on first catch.....hoping he gets a chance at next level

I heard that he also looked very good all week in practice, turned a lot of heads.

Is there any chance he could get an NFL Combine invite in Indy, or is it more likely he would funnel up from regional combine? Oh course there is always the Hobart College NFL prospect day 8-)...I remember Ali getting quite a few scouts in Geneva with DeAndre Smith participating as well....not sure we have anyone else to keep Brandon company for the workout, maybe Zach Withers could keep him company(6'4", 245 pound TE..you never know)

Brandon Shed's best bet for a Pro Day would be to try to get an invite at Syracuse. That's typically how things work -- without Ali Marpet to draw scouts, I am not sure there would be a lot of attention given to a Hobart Pro Day.

I believe Combine invites are already out (http://www.d3football.com/notables/2018/01/dubuque-joseph-invited-nfl-combine), but not sure what the timeline is on regional combines.

Thanks Pat, it would be great to see him get a shot somewhere...

One Opinion, and no it was not a homer Hobart alum:

Brandon Shed, WR, Hobart

Projected Round 7th Round

2017 Season Recap The 6-4 205 lb Brandon Shed is probably the best Division 3 prospect to enter the NFL since his former teammate Ali Marpet. There is a lot to like about Shed. Shed has 43 receptions, 615 receiving yards, and 5 receiving touchdowns in 2017 so far with 2 regular season games left. Shed will rise if he gets a Senior Bowl invite, but could also go undrafted despite having Pro Bowl potential.

Brandon Shed SWOT Report

Strengths: Brandon Shed focuses on when defensive backs move their hips. He may be better in this category than any other wide receiver outside of Christian Kirk. That's high praise for Shed.

Brandon Shed has outstanding route running. He runs sharp, crisp routes. Displays the route running to run short routes, medium routes, and deep routes. You will see Shed perform precise routes with screen passes, streaks, slants, wheel routes, curls, curl stops, snags, shoots, out routes, out & ups, corner routes, slugos, slugo posts, slugo stops.

Makes spectacular one-handed catches. Also displays a natural ability for catching the ball in traffic. Really excels as a deep threat. His deep threat ability makes him a quarterback's biggest asset in a vertical offense. Possesses deadly speed and runs like a cheetah.

Weaknesses: His highlight reel is sick and out of this world. There are hardly any weaknesses from the highlight reel. I watched his full tape versus RPI and he dropped one pass. He was also used as a two-down receiver in that game. Would like to see him maintain blocks a little longer, this isn't a huge issue with me because he can get his hands on a defender and maintain that for 2 seconds even though you'd like to see him maintain his hands on a defensive back for 4-5 seconds like some of the other receivers when blocking.

Opportunities: Brandon Shed is outstanding. I had a sixth round grade on him at the beginning of the year, but moved him down due to a lack of exposure. He could go anywhere between the sixth round and the undrafted range depending on where scouts have him. I see a guy with second round potential that is gonna fall to the sixth round due to a lack of exposure. Shed could surge up boards. It comes down to him getting an invite to the Collegiate Bowl, Shrine Game, Senior Bowl, or NFL Combine in 2018.

Threats: Shed may not get the exposure that most receivers get due to playing at Hobart. Also, since he was a two-down receiver there, he may end up being limited to a slot receiver role in the NFL.

Potential Grade: 90/99

ITH radio

I thought he looked good in the NFLPA game as well. Only had two targets, but he made the catches, broke tackles and got 1st downs on both plays. Wesley's Matt Gono really played well also, getting a lot of notice from Klatt and Schlereth, the former even said Gono was the "MVP" in the closing minutes of the broadcast.

I posted a number of clips on our twitter feed if you wanted to see them / missed the broadcast.
