This would be a great game if it comes to pass, it's been awhile since Hobart and Cortland played. Hobart has actually opted out of ECAC games in the past, but I think there would be interest in this matchup for a young improving Hobart squad.  I would understand Ithaca opting out of another Cortaca or preferring an ECAC game.

Should Cortland and Alfred both finish 5-2 in conference play, you are correct, AU would have the H2H tiebreaker.

Lots of if's there but I think that's a pretty likely scenario. Time will tell.

If it comes to pass , I would look forward to a trip to Mayberry for an old time Alfred-Hobart matchup.

Still three weeks left in the LL regular season, but it looks like an Engineers victory march to the NCAA berth. They will have to lose 2 of the final 3 games to not make the tournament. While Union should be well contested, it would be surprising to see either U of R or SLU gather the strength for an upset.... so congratulations to RPI for their success to date. As far as picks this week, there are only 2 games. Bartman was 2-1 last week and 27-6 on the season( glad there are no point spreads).

RPI            45             Rochester                  10            RPI's roster will be fully utilized

Ithaca        35             SLU                           14           the Saints have some early success in the air but the Bombers stiffen

The following week we have an Ithaca-Hobart game at the Boz that could have greater meaning if the Saints can dig deep and upset the Engineers that weekend( a man can dream can't he?)

Hopefully there would still be some rotten pumpkins around that the Saxons can smash.....Smashing Pumpkins!!

Pep,
Some of the JV boys tasted Saxon defeat earlier this year , and will surely show the rest of the boys how to keep their Pumpkinheads in tact from the Saxon attack....The potential return of the Pumpkinheads to Mayberry for the prestigious and ever glorious New York Bowl trophy.....who cares about the NCAA tourney🤷‍♂️

ECACs???...Talk of the possibilities in the LL vs E8 New York bowl...Ithaca/Alfred, Hobart/Alfred, Hobart/Cortland etc. prompt me to think of the other post season possibilities for LL teams.  Last year Ithaca opted out of a Cortica rematch in the NY Bowl and played Salisbury at the University of Delaware as part of the ECAC Fan Fest. The ECAC has given up on their Fan Fest concept for now and has returned the ECAC games to on campus sites. There will be spots available for LL teams but as in the past you have to officially declare your desire to be considered. The deadline to do so is a fast approaching 11/5.  Yes, before the last week of the regular season!  ??? Only teams with above .500 records are considered. With RPI in line to get the league Pool A automatic tourney bid and the Ithaca/Hobart winner slotted for the NY Bowl that leaves Union or the Ithaca/Hobart loser for the ECACs. As a Union fan I'd love to see a 7-2 Union squad (or 6-3 :'() play a MAC or NJAC opponent (anybody) especially if it means their 5th home game. Can't wait to see how it all shakes out.

Ufan,
I just looked at the ECAC website, and IC is the only LL team registered so far.  Utica, Morrisville, Alfred have registered from the E8.  I hope that Hobart Admin considers registering this year since the team only has the 9 game schedule.  Of course beating IC is the real goal, and then get the auto bid to NYS Bowl (or NCAA if RPI falters....)

I'd think you would want an extra week of practice and game day experience for players returning next year...right?

UfanBill

I sure hope ALL the eligible LL teams declare especially since upon further research teams from the MAC and CC will not be potential ECAC foes for the Liberty League. The MAC and CC have added a third Centennial-MAC Bowl game which means the top four teams from each of those conferences will be playing post season, the champs in the NCAAs and the 2nd,3rd and 4th place teams in the CC-MAC bowls. With the New England teams playing their own New England Bowl series (2 games) that means the three ECAC games will be sorted out between the LL, E8 and NJAC.

Hobart has declined to participate in the ECACs in recent years, however, with a young team that needs some playoff experience, I would encourage Hobart to sign up. A game against Alfred or Cortland or a chance to play a decent NJAC team would be a great experience.

They haven't participated in the ECACs since 2003. Not a member institution for FB for many years now.

DB will be very frustrated if Union does not register. This is a very young football team who still, even with a finish at 6-3, is improving and growing as a program. The extra game would be a great experience and provide an opportunity to gather some excellent momentum heading into next year where even to DB, the expectations will be pretty high.
