Good luck to RPI on Saturday. The Engineers have a decent chance to go to the final four and sacrifice themselves to the gods of the Purple Raiders(very likely unless the Mules surprise the **** out of the entire football world.) My algos show this is a 33% chance to get to the next round which is not too shabby 8-). The last time a LL team was in the "Elite 8" was in 2014 when Hobart had just beaten the #7 JayHawks in the second round 24-21 in Geneva, and played a Joe Callahan Wesley team in the Elite 8 round , losing 41-13. An excellent Wesley team went on and was embarrassed by the Purple Raiders , losing at half time 56-0(final 71-21 I think). This unfortunate Wesley performance added to the uncompetitive storyline for the East, especially after Wesley handled a strong Marpet/ Coleman Senior year Hobart team. I really hope RPI can play an error free game against Hopkins, and come away with a win(RPI was the last LL team in the final four in 2003), and it will help raise the LL status. It will also be interesting to see how the Mules( HC Milne, Hobart '03) and RPI fair against the real elite of D3 football. The last time a LL team played the Purple Raiders was in 2016 when Hobart actually had a lead late in the third quarter before UMU pulled away.  While I am very happy with the competition in the LL league this year( we were better than the E8 based on most measures...our #1 beat their #1last week, our #2 Beat their #2 in Cortaca, and our record against the E8 was 6-5), it would really be cool if RPI can get to Alliance and play like John Carroll often does against them. It is probably too much to ask, but my algos give it a 19.87 percent chance. Hoping for injury free football the rest of the way. Go Slide Rulers!

There's a story in today's Albany Times Union about RPI's last trip to the NCAA quarterfinals in 2003 that I think's a good read. I was one of the 1,807 cold, snow covered fans at that game...... https://www.timesunion.com/collegefootball/article/RPI-s-last-trip-to-the-NCAA-quarterfinals-was-a-13428573.php

The video is awesome.

I too was in the crowd. I probably spilled a beer on you by mistake. :-) There were a lot more than 1800 people there though. Those were likely paying patrons. There were probably another 500-1000 packed into the 2 endzones outside of the fence back on good ol '87 Field with flasks full of warming juice. It was cold. It was windy. It was nasty. It was awesome. With the crown on that field, you could probably sled from midfield to the sideline after the game. Ahhhh, memories. If RPI beat Union afew weeks ago, maybe we'd be hosting this week. Wah Wah Wahhhhhhhh.

Didn't a 5-4 (6-4 if you count the ECACs and a thrashing of Norwich, perhaps the year Garcon was there before transferring to Mt Union) Hobart team thrash RPI to close out the 2003 regular season as well?  It's like a rite of passage for RPIs best historical years is to catch a last reg season game beatdown.

If you'd had a Union education you'd have known that alcohol does NOT help you to keep warm when you're cold. I bet you likely weren't one of the "paying patrons."  I've noticed former RPI players "outside the fence" at every Shoes game. Pity with their RPI education they seemingly can't afford a ticket.  ;D

I think I watched this game on the computer now, or at least imagined it..... RPI is obviously a  bad weather team...so luckily the weather is 80% rain for Baltimore on Saturday...let the Mudders run,

We had broadcasters in some bathroom (or maybe a classroom) overlooking the field. Seth Cantor and John McGraw, possibly?

If this is true then why do Canadians spend so much of their time stone cold drunk?  Answer me that.

1 - Alcohol not only makes you warm, it makes you awesome.
2 - If I had a Union education, my algo's would probably be top notch.
C - How can I afford an NCAA playoff ticket if I can't even afford pants?
14 - Rozenbagga would probably buy the entire ticket booth on yesterday's yields alone.

I don't need to actually be warm. The whiskey is to trick my body into thinking I'm warm. Not going to keep me from dying (which probably isn't a concern anyway) but will help me tolerate the situation.

Wife and I are setting a New Year's (Advent?) resolution to drink more. Speaking of which...

I was thinking about hitting the game until I saw the forecast.  Hopkins has a turf field so the rain should not be an issue.  Hoping for a good game.
