I checked the BC Lions and it looks like Brandon Shed did not make the final cuts. Anybody know if he is still giving it a shot somewhere?

XFL has been having "showcases" around the country, but I haven't seen his name listed at one yet.

There have been a handful of D3 guys like Nick Giorgio from SC, Matt Conroy of Salve and Ryan Schmidt of SLU (he almost made the AAF Apollos roster) have attended, however.

Shed just had a tryout with Montreal of the CFL. Delaware Valley's Rasheed Bailey made the final 46 man roster for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

FWIW, I'd put Fletcher and Anderson above Garcon. Anderson was league MVP. Fletcher was a constant team captain, and pro bowl caliber linebacker for a solid decade, even if he was overlooked in multiple season. He was a 2x All Pro. And a Super Bowl champ. From wikipedia:

QuoteFletcher was well known for never missing a game in his career, being one of only five players in NFL history to play in over 250 consecutive games. Fletcher also holds the record for consecutive starts at the linebacker position. He eventually finished his career with 215 consecutive games started, which ties him for 6th all time along with Alan Page and Ronde Barber.

Also, Fred Jackson from Coe.

Also, John Cena. I'm no WWE fan, but by any measure, he's been ridiculously successful in the entertainment industry. His 'Q score' is probably top 5 on the current list.

Thanks for the update ( +k). Hope he shows well, but no sign of him on depth chart.  Do they call signals in French...could be an issue? Hut un, Hut duex, Hut trois

Yea how did we forget about Cena?  I actually played against him.  Anyways, he should probably go right in between Reagan and Nixon.  But that's just my opinion.

I like the John Cena addition, not sure about Jackson.  If he gets some more support, he will make the list.....

If we just included his WWE acheivements I agree, but unfortunately he chose to get into acting as well (did you see Blockers??  :o), dropping him to 8.....

Has anyone heard updates regarding the "NYS Bowl"? Is the idea dead after last year's debacle?

Caz Bombers

I actually liked Blockers, and Cena in it. He made the switch from wrestling to acting too late in life to have The Rock's career, but I thought he was pretty funny and charismatic.

TBD - apparently no one counted on the possibility of IC and Cortland ending up in 2nd place 2x so if it is to survive we need some of the other LL and E8 teams to knock them down a bit (or hope for the Bombers and Dragons to win their respective leagues).

Not at all. You don't schedule a series like this without being aware of things like rematches, especially *that* rematch. And even if, by some stretch of the imagination, we say that they didn't count on it when creating it, considering that Ithaca passed on it in 2017 rather than have a second game against Union, absolutely no one should have been caught off guard by the Bombers doing the same thing in 2018.

50/50 odds going forward IMO, Unless the LL and E8 members really commit to it .....I think it is a good experience for the participants  but there is no real feeling of rivalry between the leagues, especially with the recent crossovers to the LL with IC and Buff State .........For Bartman, I just have a softspot for the old Alfred and SJF matchups whether OOC scheduling or end of season bowl game...there is some history there with some great games ....a good old Saxon Warrior or Cardinals game and I'm there

Mark your calendar, Bartman. The Pumpkinheads are scheduled to play the Saxons on Merrill Field in Yunevich Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021. Hope you'll be there. Pep will treat you to lunch in the Connors Pavilion (probably beef chili and corn bread).

Incidentally, the 2019 football season marks the 20th anniversary of the founding of the AU Pep Band. In its infancy, five kazoos comprised the spirited ensemble.
