Interesting Coaches LL poll, with majority of coaches giving RPI the nod. I still think they have lost too many key players to graduation but evidently there is a lot of respect for the depth of the Engineers. With each top four team getting a first place vote , it shows how competitive this season should be. Looking forward to a great LL season.

Dlip's not surprised with the nice little run the Engineers had last year. However he thinks all the coaches know that this really is a four way race with most likely two of the four stepping up in a big way. Shall we now say a four headed monster?

Will we see 3 playoff teams like the Empire 8 back in 2007?

I wonder, if two LL teams end up at 9-1, is the league strong enough to get a second team in?  I think there are only 4 at large bids this year.

Should be 5 Pool C and 27 Pool A. Only difference from last year is that the NEWMAC is now Pool A and there's no pool B bid.

Thanks, still only 4 spots available since coming in second in the OAC is an automatic bid as well   ;D

The real Union Dutchman...

I knew Bob Ridings. Every athlete at Union knew Bob Ridings. When I first came to campus in the fall of 1968 the first person I saw was Bob at his equipment "cage". He asked me "what size cleats do you wear son"? I said 9...he gave me a 8 wide...they fit perfectly.
I swear I can still smell his pipe...I remember being back on campus in the mid 90's, and someone saying that he had passed. The next day I was at the game, I smell the pipe, followed by hearing him call my name in that high squeaky voice of his. Turned around,I thought I was seeing a ghost.

Depends on Strength of Conference. If the conference as a whole perform well in their OOC schedule. I don't see why it's not a possibility. I know a lot a factors go into it, but it may be the case this year.

IF( and that is a big if) Hobart beats their OOC opponents , which includes Brockport, but finishes second to to the LL champ with a 9-1 overall record, I think it is possible to have multiple LL teams in the NCAA, because of Hobart's SOS should be off the charts this year. But that means beating everyone else, including Rowan, M'ville and Montclair State...if they do that the LL should get 2 Pool C's , even over the OAC second place team....well, maybe ;).

This is an interesting release, in that it doesn't mention IC's quarterback situation at all.  I guess I understand not wanting to guess which guy will be the starter, but it's sort of a glaring omission to not mention that they've got the E8 and East Region Offensive Player of the Year on the roster. Not that they're beholden to what the E8 or this esteemed website says, but this is sort of an obvious thing you'd want to mention, even if we still don't know who the starter is going to be

Drove to Alfred for the Hobart preseason game last night.  My takeaways: Hobart defense is going to much improved this year, strong on both run and pass defense.  Hobart will continue with a fast paced offense, when it clicks its awesome, when it doesn't, 3 and out.  Perhaps my favorite take is that the team was much more disciplines, no stupid penalties.

Pep thought he saw an Oline in Yunevich Stadium last night, at least during the all-too brief time he was there during "dinner break" from a night of work at the library.

Pep's takeaway: Teams traded turnovers. Saxons failed to cash in; Hobart capitalized through the air.
AU finally moved the ball on the ground with Braggaglia, then connected on a fade route in the end zone.
Pep went back to work at halftime with the score (0-0 on scoreboard, 7-7 in Pep's head).
Heard that no one scored in the shortened second half.
Seemed the defenses were ready; offenses still working out the kinks, which is how it usually pans out.
Would be nice if the two teams could meet after the regular season!

Second half was 10/10/10/10 possessions for each team.  Hobart (and I assume AU) played mostly younger guys.  Everyone got some nice playing time. And no injuries!!
