DB, I love this bold prediction. +K. Good luck to the Dutchmen until we meet again at Bailey. The real fun begins tomorrow .....gotta love it!

Fan counter point we got was this:

find this perplexing...if Joe (Germinerio) is paying for his own education (vis cash, student loans, grants, or educational scholarship), why would it be anyone elses comcern on where he attends, what he does, what sport he plays, or even if he graduates? Thats his business.

What do you guys' think?
I had not watched the youtube prior to my earlier post. I have to agree with Frank's comments. I must also say I am extremely impressed with how Nabi has handled the situation. If Nabi is not the starter by game four, he could also play the transfer game by leaving the team and IC  , legitimately have two years of eligibility left and seek a degree from a school that won't bench him for a "Fall" transfer. I am sure I will get a few negative karma's for this from IC faithful or Joe G fans, but that's what I think.

Nabi would have one year left of eligibility in that scenario.  The Division III eligibility clock is not the same as FBS.  From NCAA website:

"Division II 10-semester/15-quarter clock: If you play at a Division II or III school, you have the first 10 semesters or 15 quarters in which you are enrolled as a full-time student to complete your four seasons of competition. You use a semester or quarter any time you attend class as a fulltime student or are enrolled part-time and compete for the school. You do not use a term if you only attend part-time with no competition or are not enrolled for a term."

"Season of competition: NCAA student-athletes are allowed to compete for four seasons in one sport. Division I and II student-athletes who compete for any amount of time during a season use up one season in their sport. Division III student-athletes who practice or compete after the first date of competition in their sport use up one season in their sport. "

In order to do as you suggested, Nabi would've had to withdraw from school before classes started at IC (or at least drop down to part time)  If he left after game four, he would still only have one year of football eligibility remaining.
Thanks for the clarification, my bad. All the more reason to be impressed with Nabi's attitude.

For what it's worth.  From a purely football perspective, the move by IC is awesome, one of the top QB's in country wants to play on your team for a season, no brainer, take him, go win a fistful of football games.    From a college football purist, former student athlete, and father of a student athlete, I hate it.  It encompasses all that is degenerate to the sport, entitled athlete plays one more season to impress pro scouts?  Coach turns back on a kid he recruited, who has started for two years?  College's own newspaper does expose on football team?

Anyway, let's move on.....its opening weekend!  Lots of great football ahead of us..

Ice Bear couldn't have said this any better. He agrees with both points. Ice Bear hopes Joe G. has a TD/INT ratio of 4/987 this season until he is replaced by a hungry Nabi who takes IC into the sunset...minus one tough loss at home to Union...

the LLPP is supposed to be third person voice only. Ice Bear adheres to those traditions, and Caz respects him for it.

Ice Bear = Ithaca, obviously, he's the best one and his name starts with IC.
Grizz = Hobart, you're just so affable and Ice Bear-adjacent.
Panda = undersized nerd who'd rather be reading strange Japanese comic books, this is U of R
Nom Nom = RPI, obnoxious rich jerks
Chloe = Union, you friendly little try hards
Ranger Tabes = Caz forgets they're in this show whenever they're not on screen, much like St. Lawrence
The Baby Bears = Buff State, there's probably a reason they're around but it's not a good one

Charlie = the Empire 8, all of them, you're annoying and you smell bad

I honestly can't believe how negatively critical most of you are on Joe G and/or Ithaca. The kid has a year of eligibility and he clearly didn't want to play at Brockport for whatever reason(s). The reason(s) do not matter. News flash, sometimes sh!t happens. Are you better off just laying in the bed that was made or making a change? How many of you have stayed at your jobs because of loyalty or comfort or whatever but aren't really happy there? You don't leave because you're afraid of the unknown even though you could probably find a better situation, get paid more, be happier, etc. I say kudos to him for having some balls and doing what he wanted. You only get one shot on this planet, go do whatever the hell you want and take some chances!

Not apples to apples, but do you all think Jalen Hurts should've stayed at Alabama this year? He went and found what he felt is a better opportunity. Playing after college or not doesn't matter. If either of these guys don't play another game of football after this season, they at least had the opportunity to finish their careers how/where they wanted and can live without regrets.

As far as Ithaca is concerned, why wouldn't they accept a high caliber experienced QB? Nabi can transfer if he wants or he can play backup for a year or he could have redshirted in one way or another. Or he could just be better and have won the job. This is football for christ's sake. Everyone wants their gd participation trophy. 'Oh how can they replace a 2 year starter? He's such a nice kid! Where's the loyalty?' Give me a break. Competition is what makes sports great. But hey, if you want Ithaca to roll with a marginal mediocre player out of loyalty, you've lost your passion for competition and sports and it's turned into something far different.

There are always options and opportunities but sometimes they come outside of yours and everyone else's comfort zones. If Joe G went to RPI this year, I'm sure most fans, players and coaches  would be thrilled to have him. I'm willing to bet most at Ithaca feel that way as well. <end rant> Looking forward to some football finally!!!

As far as Joe G is concerned, totally agree.  On Ithaca, nope. Entirely fine if they bench Nabi for a better student-athlete.  But Joe G is not a student athlete. He's a three month rental with no meaningful connection to the college other than FB.

I think this is such a silly take. I'm pretty sure the dude will be wearing an Ithaca helmet and uniform so he is connected and representing Ithaca, regardless of how long he's been there. Under this circumstance, I say shame on Mount Union and UMHB for letting Pierre Garçon and Luke Poorman represent their programs. What about that QB dude from Rowan a few years ago that transferred to Widener? It happens, it's normal, and I see zero issue with it. Not sure why Ithaca should be put on some pedestal that playing a transfer is some major crime.

Jalen Hurts made his decision based on wanting to start and possibly have a nice NFL career. Joe G has zero shot at an NFL career......................and is far short of the credits needed to graduate even if he stays at Ithaca for the second semester (which I'm hearing, through an Ithaca hoops contact, he has no plan on doing so). He wasn't going to lose his starting job at Brockport. He didn't make the move to Ithaca based on academics. It was a strange, strange move .................and many of his former BPort teammates are not sad to see him go. I've heard a few stories. Not a good teammate. I wish him luck though and I hope that he does eventually get a degree someday, from somewhere, or the three schools in four (or five) years has all been a waste if he doesn't get the piece of paper in the end.

HOBART 33   BROCKPORT 7 .....The big Green and Yellow monkey from last year's opener is off the Statesmen's back.......Hobart has an awesome turnover machine defense this year.  Both teams had their first game miscues on offense, but Hobart was totally motivated to wipe out the embarrassment of last year. This was only  one game , but it was a big game and it told us something about both teams and where they are after one week.  Just hoping the Statesmen will keep improving ;D ;D ;D

Ithaca game still going on, but my first thoughts:

Offense is going to be dangerous.  They looked almost perfect in the first half going 7/7 and 7 touchdowns.  Joe G. to Gladney is going to be very hard to stop.  A few missed fade stops and tough routes, but everything else was almost perfect.  Good protection, Joe G. has great vision in the pocket and knows when to fold em, and Vito, Gladney and Co all feed off each other.

Defense is the big question.  Front 4 looked very good, but were slow when getting to the QB after beating Olinemen 1 on 1. Backers also very tough but looked a little slow.  Secondary are all young and are easily the #1 weakness on the Ithaca team.

Special Teams were outstanding with two blocked punts.

St. Vinny's looked a little overwhelmed but the QB and Wrs have the potential to win a few games I think.  Other than that they probably have 3-4 wins but who knows at this point of the season.

A BIG DAY FOR THE LIBERTY LEAGUE:   Union wins 42-7 and went out of their way not to run up the score. Will Bellamy was a perfect 11/11 for 192 yards and 4 TDs and only played a quarter and a half. Backup John Germinerio (yes, Joe's brother) was also 11/11.  LL first team all stars Andre Ross Jr. caught 4/125 yds. and 3 TDS and Ike Irabor ran 11/108. The Dutchmen starters went out with about 8 minutes to go in the 1st half and did not play in the 2nd half. The Dutchmen 2nd and 3rd teamers took a knee in the redzone just before halftime and again at the end of the game. Coach Behrman played everybody. Just sayin'  ;D
