Not to pull the scab off a painful wound, but the ITH guys have a new podcast today, and they re-visit the Joe G/Nabi situation again.  No matter how fervent a Bomber supporter you are, you have to admit it is a little sketchy.  This whole situation is going to stick with the 2019 IC team for a long time.  Dare I say, it may arrant an * in the record books????
Swanstrum will only put Nabi in if the Germ is injured or IC has iced the game.  As far as  Hobart, after suffering the embarrassing loss to Brockport in 2018 week #1, Hobart got some revenge by beating Brockport 33-7, but beating the Germ and Ithaca for the first time at Butterfield would be sublime......however,  the focus this week is on turning the Dutchmen into cannon fodder  .

Many Thanks!

Ice Bear

Ice Bear really does favorite Hobart this weekend but again he wouldn't be surprised if Union wins. Ice Bear will say that if Union is to win we must see a much tougher and physical team than we did against Springfield. IB really gave the physical edge to the Pride that day and Union was noticeably shaken from the step up in competition (and mind you it wasn't a huge step up).

Ice Bear says for the Dutch to win they must not turn the ball over and need to force Hobart to turn the ball over. From what IB has seen the Pumpkin QB is still battling inconsistency. The U will need that to continue to win. IB will make a prediction on Friday...he needs more time to think.

Ice Bear continues to be a first team all-Nabi fan.

Ohhh, snippy SNAP. I remember a time when Union football faithful blamed the slump years and the fall of Audino to the support of the Hockey program.....looks like they can do both now.....must be taking money away from the debate team recruits because even HWS can beat them
Seriously, just happy to be somewhat relevant again. And while there was definitely some truth to the Hockey support theory, I think the resurgence is more of a new guy coming in, and getting some commitments by the administration to get some energy and resources back into the football program to make them respectable again. Hockey is still king, though, and that's not going to change.

I see that Andrew Vito didn't play against Fisher, any prognosis there?

Bombers798891

No idea on Vito, though you have to wonder if IC will be cautious with him given that their next two games should be winnable without him (all due respect to St. Lawrence and Buff State)

Cortaca breaks the record today:

Wonder if College Gameday will be there too?

Ice Bear says that Corteca will exceed 45,000 at MetLife.

This just in, Shoes 2019 has already sold 12 tickets

I was amused by all this -- because in order to set an attendance record, the game has to actually get played. They have sold enough tickets to break the record* but there has to be an actual game so people can attend it.

* there is no official NCAA record for D-III single-game attendance. Everything anyone has said about Division III football single-game attendance in the past decade is based on research Keith and Adam and I have done:

Special thanks for Cortland for recognizing this fact in their version of the Cortaca news release from today.

I noticed that immediately, too, in starting to read the article and I totally agree with you.  A couple of questions for you in regards to all this.  1) Does that mean that the NCAA Annual Records book published by the NCAA which lists each year by all the schools is based on the "estimated" self-reported attendance for the home games by each school? and 2) Why doesn't the NCAA recognize your work and that of the Target Stadium people at that St. Thomas/St. Johns game as the official record?  You certainly didn't fabricate the numbers and the stadium officials I can't believe wouldn't have given an inaccurate count for the total attendance.  That would be absurd.  Also-and I guess this is question 3)-does that mean that the NCAA doesn't recognize the nearly 12,000 in attendance, which BTW, was an accurate account, for the Hope/Calvin basketball game back in 2000 at Van Andle Arena in Grand Rapids, MI?

Anyway, it seems to me that common sense would dictate that for games at special venues like this at Metlife and Target Stadiums for DIII, that the NCAA would recognize the attendance by reputable people (and since they are accurate) as being the official records of attendance for those games.  But then, we all know the NCAA very commonly does not exercise common sense, and that is the truth. :)

Regardless, we all know that whatever the actual attendance is for the Ithaca/Cortland game there, it still be a great event.

This just in.....New Jersey has JUST passed a new law that the team member participants for college sporting events  must be paid 50% of the net profit of any game in excess of 40,000 in attendance, if their likeness is used in promotion of the game or the game day  program ...Ithaca is now flooded with transfer apps from Mount Union and MHB as well as other top programs, and the word is the IC administration is making special Fall admission exceptions as long as they are registered for classes by  game five and play half of the season. Cortland has declined to accept transfers and still think they will win ;D
