Caz Bombers

the public school district I work for is not particularly known for producing college football players, but we did export one of Hobart's starting safeties, a real smart kid to boot.

Yea I love when top players come from either small upstate high schools or other random places.  Had some good friends/teammates from Ithaca who grew up on farms in the area.  I remember going to some of their High School games on Friday nights at being amazed at how many "Starter" jackets could be worn in one place!

Ah the traditional Stater jacket that ran ****ing rampant in upstate NY...sweet memories. This was the starter jacket that screamed "tough guy" back in the day.

I remember a lot of NBA ones too.  Charlotte Hornets, Chicago Bulls....

I had a sick Cowboys Starter jacket back in the day. It was pretty bad ass, as was I.

OK, I'll bite. Congratulations on barely squeaking by Rochester last week. The Bengals first ever LL win. That could have been your homecoming.victory. I'm not going to disparage your team because I've never seen you play(Union has never faced Buff St) and I know you have some great athletes on your side but if you think Union will come in unprepared you would be wrong. The Dutchmen are a solid, well balanced team with excellent players. As I said before the Hobart game, they'll be ready and focused. Good luck. Just sayin' ;)

And nothing was more dangerous than seeing someone in a starter jacket on a ski slope. The farther away from skiing regions the team, the more dangerous the skiiers were. Browns and Eagles were bad, but a Cowboy or Raiders jacket? Time to keep your head on a swivel, knees bent and in hitting position.

So correct me if I'm wrong, but you need a Buff State/Rochester win over Union and/or Ithaca with RPI beating both for any sort of hope......

Not sure if it still holds true, but Buff State always had the best pregame music in upstate NY.  And that weird train bridge press box behind the visitor stands.  Too bad they got rid of the grass too.  I remember a game there in 1993 or 1995 where a huge snow storm happened the Thursday or Friday before the game.  Bus left Ithaca in the middle of it and I swear we almost fishtailed into Cayuga lake 3 or 4 times on route 89 around that stretch which oddly hugs the lake in Trumansburg near the State Park there.

Actually, I just figured out that Hobart , SLU and Rochester are already eliminated from the LL crown, no matter the scenario.  So good luck to IC, Union, RPI and Buffalo State....your fate is in your hands...especially RPI....now that would really make me crazy if the Engineers rise above in the next few weeks after that Hobart-RPI game.  It would be even more maddening if Brockport wins the E8 after our 33-7 win, which is certainly very possible. Oh well, the Statesmen will finish strong with an eye towards improving our chances for next year.

We STILL have some of the best pregame music . ( Although i can only compare it to Brockport and fisher) New press box too (somewhat)

Go BENGALS!

Ice Bear

Ice Bear is hoping for a  W today for his beloved Dutchmen but believes this will be no easy task. Buffalo State has some excellent athletes and a top 3 receiver in the league. Hopefully U shows up ready to go and firing on all cylinders.

Ice Bear says best of luck to both teams and let's hope for a great game with no injuries on either side.

Well, only one more week and we finally get see to the Union Dutchmen take on the Ithaca Asterisks for the league title.  Should be a good one.  I'd start the betting with the Asterisks as 10-point favorites.
