YOU know I can't let this one pass. Put me on the stand. To those of you that want facts and not fake news. The Union women's hockey team does not play this Saturday. Remember Union is in the midst of first term exams. If there had been a scheduling conflict let me point out that Union hockey uses ESPN+ to stream their games while football uses Boxcast. The football play by play announcer, Andrew Santillo, does not work hockey games. ...you're welcome 

The Union AD, Jim McLaughlin'93, does not hate football. In fact he was an All League, Associated Press All American offensive tackle for the Dutchmen. He was put in the tough position of firing his old coach, John Audino, four years ago. His decision to do so has proven to be the correct one (and one I supported) as was his choice of Jeff Behrman to replace him.

As for the cannon. It's been since 2005 that Union has hosted an NCAA football game but I believe the cannon will be up an functioning as always.

In the intervening fourteen years, things have changed. UW-Whitewater is no longer permitted to fire its cannon in the stadium for playoff games, for example, and I don't know why it would be different for Union.

Shouldn't be using the cannon in the NCAA playoffs anyway (artificial noisemaker), so that should be good.

Nothing artificial about it Pat, 100% real cannon! Watching that metal cannonball hurtle towards the crowd is part of the magical atmosphere in Shocktown.

Congrats to Joe G being named All-Liberty League First Team QB, amongst all of the negative press and added pressure to perform. Being named Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Year and First Team QB 2 years consecutively, he came to the LL as advertised. He'll leave the land of Division 3 with a pretty decorated resume. I know a coach up in Canada headed to the Grey Cup again that would likely give him a look.

Good Luck to JG and Congrats to all of the athletes receiving accolades.

If you are talking about Winnipeg, it very well might happen as they are very familiar with D-III football players....................including DelVal's former All-American WR, Rasheed Bailey, who is now starting for the Blue Bombers. Joey G. to Rasheed B in 2020. I need to see it. Joey G. made this third move for a reason (and it's not law school).

I defer to your expertise Pat. Maybe they can move the cannon outside of the stadium. Over on the "frathouse' grounds possibly? After all that's where they quarantined the RPI pep band last week.  I'll keep you posted.
