I am  just so proud that I can honor the twentieth anniversary of 9/11 and remember our fallen and the brave first responders that were so selfless as they climbed the stairs and stormed the cockpit that day, with a return to the Boz and watch my Statesmen again at HOME after almost two years. The ringing of the bell at the Boz tomorrow will never mean more. GOBART and GOAMERICA!

WEEK 2:
The LL went 4-3 last week and Bartman went 6-1 . We are still in a discovery phase for these teams, but
here goes:

Stevenson        14            RPI           17                The Engineers go 2-0 as the offense just scores enough

Alfred State       10           Rochester  28                Yellowjackets passing game stings State

Union               49            WorchesterST  6             Union dominates

Norwich            14            SLU           28                 The Saints put their game together on both sides

Morrisville St.    10            Hobart       31                 Statesmen backs outrun the Mustangs

Ithaca               14            Brockport   17                 Brockport wins in final minute

Utah,

Your research was very good.  I was going on memory and at my age it is not what it used to be.  I did a quick look in the archives and found an old program with this on the cover...

I tried a few times to upload a picture but the "tray" is too full

Despite making a million mistakes, Union rolling out vet Worcester St. 34-6 at halftime.  Offense pretty much doing whatever it wants.

Jonny Utah

Ithaca up 10-8 over Brockport at the half.  Pretty even game with both teams struggling on offense.  Ithaca's pass defense doing well against Brockport's passing attack and the bomber run defense letting Brockport move the ball a little too much.  Kinda the opposite on the other side as Ithaca is throwing the ball well but struggling with the run.

The Union offense was again pretty much unstoppable in a 62-13 domination of Worcester St. The Dutchmen star trio of QB Will Bellamy, 11-17 197 yds. 4 TDs, WR Andre Ross Jr. 2 catches 84 yds. one being a 69 yd TD and Ike Irabor 7 rushes for 84 yds and a TD, only played in the first half establishing a 34-6 lead. The talented Union 2nd and 3rd team took over from there and put 4 more TDs on the scoreboard. The defense did their part holding Worcester St to -2 yards rushing.

Ithaca blanks #20 Brockport after halftime, wins 23-8. Hines pick six was the back-breaker. IC picked off Jack Cheshire three times to offset a sluggish offense.

However Brockport won TOP so really who's to say if Ithaca scoring more points really mattered.

Top numbers definitely a bummer.  ;D

It is possible that Brockport is severely overrated (which is definitely a possibility in week 2 of a post covid season) but man, I've never seen Ithaca defense get so much pressure on the QB and defend the pass like that.  Run game was disappointing but I think Brockport may have focused too much on the run and not enough on some of those passes that got IC first downs.

Either way the Brockport offense was unimpressive in the game.  The QB was forced to make quick decisions and did not make good ones...

Ithaca QB very impressive making smart decisions.  Not sure what to think of the three passes that were tough but overthrown on three plays that were TDs.....

I guess we will find out what teams are made of the next few weeks though.

LL should be fun this year.  Two weeks and Union, Hobart, Ithaca and RPI all look like they could be really good, but it's too early to know for real.

From the Pet Peeve catagory...While I've taken many a road trip around the East to watch my beloved Dutchmen play, I did not venture to Worcester St. Saturday, instead relying on the Lancers video feed (spotty with no play by play only background crowd and PA noise, a D-). I also followed along using the live game stats. Therein lies the problem...NUMBERS...The recent success of Union football program now has a numbers issue, as in too many players (109) for the amount of jersey numbers available. So what's to be done? Simple, issue duplicate numbers to two different players. One on offense and one on defense as allowed by NCAA rules as long as they don't appear on the field at the same time. Bigger programs have been doing this for a long time. Union actually has been dong it for a decade. So what's the issue?...The stats guy. I'm not sure who actually keeps track of the official stats, there is an official scorekeeper as part of the game officiating crew, or is it done by a staff member from each team BUT I do know there's an annoying problem. The stats and play by play, and even the post game Box Score https://www.d3football.com/seasons/2021/boxscores/20210911_2lf6.xml are mixing up the players that are credited with making plays. Does it occur to you that it probably wasn't DT Jamar Edwards #8 that threw 3 passes completing 2 for 32 yards as listed in the Box Score but maybe #8 backup QB Stratton Sherman? How about safety #9 Austin St. Pierre getting credit for 4 receptions for 54 yards or #9 WR Finn Duran? Were those 5 rushes for 40 yards done by #28 safety Connor Fitzgerald or # 28 RB Conor McVey? One would think that these types of errors would be easy to detect and fix but as of right now they stand in the official game Box Score. This is not just a one time occurrence. Last week the Union stats line gave credit for yardage and touchdowns to LB #5 Calahan Kieley when it obviously was #5 WR Robbie Tolbert who made the plays. I'm sure Kieley's family and friends were elated to read about his TDs in the paper the next day. :o  Now I understand that eventually these stats will be corrected (or will they) but come on man, how hard is it to get it right the first time?

It's the new NCAA Live Stats software and how it talks to Sidearm and Presto websites. It's correct in the program and then it doesn't display right. It's a known bug that SIDs are not happy about either.

LL went 6-0 this wkd. Conversely, NJAC was 0-7. Crazy days.

Thanks for beating me to this. Yes, odds are that it is not the stat keeper's fault. I mean, it even happens at Mount Union where their preseason All-America quarterback apparently also gets some tackles.

Congratulations to this week's LL representative on the D3football Team of the Week. CB Derek Slywka, Jr., Ithaca. "Slywka played a major role in Ithaca's 23-8 win at No. 20 Brockport. He recorded two interceptions and blocked a punt, to go along with three tackles. Ithaca forced six turnovers on the day in its first win against Brockport since 2014."

Bartman

It's WEEK 3 in the Liberty League schedule and the teams are starting to reveal themselves as the LL looks pretty strong going 10-3 Out of Conference so far. Union looks like an Offensive machine and the Hobart defense has started the season with 2 shutouts, while Ithaca takes advantage of TOs and a new QB while RPI just finds a way to win. No one should sleep on the rest of the league as SLU , Buff State and Rochester look improved.
Bartman is 11-2 YTD and here are my picks for Week 3:

Rochester          14          Brockport          28       Rocha cha hangs in there as Brockport still has TO issues

Ithaca                31         Alfred                14       Ithaca has slow start as Saxons are scrappy in first half

Hobart               28          SJF                   13       Bart D yields first points this year as Hobart backs gallop

Buff State          14          Cortland            35       Was that Drew Brees or Brees Segala for the Red Dragons?

RPI                    24          WPI                   21       RPI wins another with last minute TD

Springfield          21         Union                 35        Springfield proves to be tough out for the Dutchmen

SLU                   24          Morrisville           21       Saints go to the air for the win

Have a great Football weekend!
