Well Ithaca holds on to win 28-21.  Pretty even game that could have gone either way.  Ithaca's QB played amazing and in my opinion runs this offense as well as Joe G. or W. Nabi.  Tough to tell today because the camera angles don't show you much except for huddle close ups, the IC ball boy, and the Cerrache Center ECAC banners. I also love when the camera focuses on the sideline reporter talking about Ithaca's run game, when in the background actual plays are going on.  That's not frustrating at all.

Hobart is going to need to find more ways to get the ball to #1 and #2.  Their quarterback and WR's are very good (I'd say a small notch below Ithaca's), but against good run defenses they will need to expand on more ways to get those guys the ball.  I thought Ithaca did a very good job shutting down the inside zone but Hobart came back with some outside runs and other wrinkles for #1 and #2 that kept them in the game.  Hobart's oline was shaky but their WRs could block real well.

Well IC has the advantage so far, but the LL could very easily come down to a 3 or even 4 way tie right?  Ithaca also has Cortland which is blowing away teams.

Ice Bear says for the Dutch to win the LL title in 2021, the QB play is going to have to improve. You can tell Ice about all the stats, the wind, the times the run has struggled, etc. Ice has noticed it from the start. INT's will kill you.

Ice Bear congratulates the Bombers on their big W today over the Pumpkinheads. Ice was impressed by both teams today. Ice Bear thought Butterfield was getting turf to replace the Vietnam jungle?

Ice Bear I think that is turf.  It just looks like grass.  I was actually thinking the same thing but noticed Hobart wasn't dirty at all in their white uniforms.  I know this because the camera zoomed in on Hobart olinemen when the ball was at a different part of the field.

Now that everyone is done watching Hobart/Ithaca...nice win for the Bombers. the pressure of their defensive front was the difference late...let me comment on the game i watched in it's entirety earlier. Union stumbled through a 30-17 win over Buffalo State.  It's better to win ugly than to lose pretty and today the Dutchmen won ugly.  First let me say it was good to see RB Ike Irabor back on the field. His talent was the deciding factor on a late TD drive to put the game away. WR Andre Ross Jr. also contributed but he also frustratingly dropped a couple of potential touchdowns. QB Will Bellamy could have been better if he'd have gotten better help. He was hampered by the fact that his new favorite receiver first year Robbie Tolbert did not play.

The defense again was solid and came up with a great goal-line stop when BuffSt incredibly had a chance to take the lead in the 4th. The Dutch better play better next week against St. Lawrence.

I thought the camera work and the play-by-play was top notch.

Spot on, Ice Bear.  I'm all for the deep shots when the accuracy is there and Ross is not dropping everything, but we need smarter throws for now.  Offense just isn't executing.  It's funny because with all that returning talent, the standouts players on offense have been freshmen WR Robbie Tolbert (though out today) and RB Jonathan Anderson.  Defense just keeps getting better, though.  But I have a hard time seeing this squad one consistent enough on offense to beat all three of the LL big boys.

They have some new offensive coaches there don't they?  Did their old OC step down?  I'm sure that is a factor.

Well you are too focused on the clock (for TOP stats of course) and not the action.

Hobart won the TOP today FYI, 34:29 to 25:31.  IC should be embarrassed there.

I also just got off a Zoom call with Dr. Shirley after viewing some of the Ithaca/Hobart feed. We were both in total agreement that it looked like a certain super-spreader event. Fans were definitely within 147 feet of one another and it will certainly spell doom for all who attended. Godspeed.

Huge win today for RPI

And #22 Forde for Hobart did play today.  I don't remember him playing outside rush on every play like that.  I thought he was better coming from depth or mixing it up a little more with stunts, blitzes, etc.  Unless he is just one of those "**** you" defenders that handles the entire side of the line and doesn't need any help behind him.

The best part was the RPI D wearing those hazmat suits the entire second half. Rochester had no idea who was on their squad. Pure brilliance.

Bartman feels TOP should become the new scoring system....then,
Hobart wins 34-25...awesome.
Congrats to the Bombers today for defending Butterfield based on the old outdated scoring system. It was a beautiful day and although Hobart outgained the Bombers,  Bomber QB #6 was the difference having made very timely runs and accurate passes . Hobart gave it their all but just ran out of time.
Bartman is hoping that the Statesmen win out the rest of the LL season, and also hopes Union, RPI and Ithaca beat each other up......tie breaker rules will be applied if we have multiple one loss teams, which is now TOP from what I understand  ;D

While you're focusing on the Hobart/Ithaca game TOP you were distracted by the true LL TOP leaders. Assuming the tie-breaker would be league games only,  RPI is at 37.24 followed closely by Union at 37.13.  :o

UFAN Bill,
TOP is a function of the strength of your opponent. Hobart dominated Ithaca, the #17 ranked team in the country. Nuff said. ;)
