I gave evyone posting this month a +k, just to keep encouraging any discussion ;D

Ice Bear says he feels this game with SLU could be quite tough for the Dutchmen. Ice likes the SLU air attack and feels that this team can score on Union. Ice says this is no slight on the Dutchmen D, who have IIBHO overachieved so far this season. This D has bent but not broken time and again. Ice thinks the lack of consistency from the O has put too much pressure on the D early in the season against some questionable competition. The D is bound to have a rough one, especially against a capable QB.

Ice Bear is worried about the recent awkwardness and lack of fluidity (shout out to Walt Clyde Frazier) that the Dutchmen O has shown. This may be the game where it bites the Garnet in the proverbial butthole.

Ice Bear also knows that this Dutch offense can explode at any minute and even a loss here, although it wouldn't look good, may loosen the fellas up and bring out that ****ing Eye of the Tiger **** we saw in 19.

I don't think Union has any trouble with the Larries.  SLU has been scooping soft serve ice cream for four weeks and now it's time to see if they can handle a little creme brulee.  I think it will be a high scoring game but Union will run away with it 52-28.

Union might be looking at a big win this week, but not as much as Science is.  For the 5th week in a row, Science rolls over Dr. Jackson 80-3.

Ithaca coming off a huge win and might need a little jumpstart but I think they roll in this one in another high scoring affair 42-21.

RPI has the Bengals coming into town and should handle them in front of a crowd of 7 people.  I say RPI wins 24-3

HUGE Empire 8 game this weekend between the Red Dragons and Golden Eagles.  I think Cortland gets by them after a slow start by both teams 27-17.

I think to spice things up I'm gonna add a big D2 game each week to predict.  This week it will be the Colorado School of Mines travelling to Spearfish, SD to take on Black Hills State in a key RMAC matchup.  I think the Orediggers prevail over the Yellow Jackets 45-14.

I also noticed that St. Lawrence's leading WR is Sean McCormack.  I assume that is former Bomber George McCormack's son (currently the head Lacrosse coach at Williams and former DC there)

You're a d!ck. There should be at least 17 in attendance.

Did people see RPI on the front page this week?

Thanks Pat. Great article. Such a shame these kids' parents have to watch from outside the stadium on a hill with binoculars. RPI's Administration is a total joke on this topic. I get protecting the students and community, but this goes against EVERYTHING that the science and common sense proves. These damn college and professional stadiums are jam-packed with 60-70-80 THOUSAND people shoulder to shoulder with very few issues reported. 1-2K fans in a sizeable stadium puts no one at risk. I really feel for the kids and honestly it's turned me off of RPI more than anything. Dr. Shirley can seriously take her protocols and stick them up her entitled ass. And if RPI does make some noise and makes it to the playoffs, I'd recommend she keep herself out of the pre-game locker room this time around. I doubt she'll be very well received.

What I wanted from that piece was for that to be part of the larger story -- very happy with how it turned out and to find out that they were essentially locked out was ... shocking, to be honest.

The rule may affect their ability to host. I would be shock if they even apply.

It certainly IS shocking. It's disgusting. Tuition at RPI is like $65K+/yr these days. I'm sure they can afford to hire a few vendors to sanitize any areas affected after the 6 home games. It's selfish, short-sighted, and wrong. RPI has more than enough money to install any mitigation measures to combat whatever 'concerns' they might have. But let's face it, this has nothing to do with 'concerns', and has everything to do with the fact that athletics and athletes, outside of maybe their pathetic hockey program, are at the very bottom of the totem pole for this administration. This isn't really a new revelation, it's just finally getting exposed.

Bonus pick for the week:Attendance at RPI-Buff State game in Troy:

Good luck to all teams today.....Statesman resting for clash with Engineers at the Boz next week

Ice Bear

Ice Bear says after his earlier worrisome post (which he still feels is the case) he just hopes to see a good solid effort from his Dutch today. Ice would like to see a pounding running game by committee this afternoon that opens the passing game and gives Will B the opportunity to get right with his passing. Hoping for no injuries on either side and again, a good D3 Football game with a win by at least two scores, from the Garnet. Ice thinks this is reasonable.

Let's go U!

*Ice Bear says on a side note he really does feel for the RPI players and their families. Ice Bear couldn't be more disappointed/disgusted with an RPI administration that, like Mach rightfully says, clearly has their athletic programs, athletes, and families (who are paying a boat load of $ to send their children there) on the very bottom of the priority pole. Awful.

All 3 games went as expected, although looks like Buffalo State made RPI sweat. Union appears to have cruised.

as for the Dr. Jackson stuff, I think I'd feel better if someone could link me to anything published with the administration side of the story, so to speak. Here and on the hockey forum it's just an anti-Jackson echo chamber. That's been true long before Covid. I don't trust that sentiment coming from a place of intellectual honesty.

Ice Bear is very happy with the way the Dutchmen played today. U QB Willy B looked very poised and played well throughout. The Dutchmen rushing attack looked great between Ike Irabor and Freshman Jonathon Anderson. The D looked excellent and continued to be very physical. This was a very disciplined and well played game by the Garnet on both sides of the football.

Ice Bear says let the U take rest for a week.

Nope. BSU scored two TDs with under 3 mins left. Garage time.

In Troy, NY the RPI Engineers racked up a paltry 28:06 of TOP to lose their LL leadership in that key tie-breaker.  Meanwhile Dr. Shirley Jackson just snerked remotely as the Engineers fell farther into the cellar of D3 football home attendance with today's 113 brave souls. :o  Bartman you were over. ::)

UfanBill,
Yes, Dr. Shirley J had her best day keeping fans away from RPI football by recording 113 fans in the win over the Bengals(she missed her goal of keeping attendance under 100). I checked out the drive chart and Buff ST did not roll over to the deafening crowd, in fact except for a fumble after a pass completion on RPI's 18 yard line, this game could have been 14-10 at the half. In both the Yellowjacket and the Bengal games , the Engineers had lethargic first half starts.
I know the Statesmen can't expect a slow start from the Sliderulers as their parents and friends provide all the cheers and support they want as they are welcome at the Boz this coming Saturday .... Please know you are all encouraged to meet your boys after the game and either congratulate or console them on the results of the day....at least you will be able to give them a hug in their uniform after battling the Statesmen and remember all the joy and time you spent since youth football supporting your son.
While I will be rooting for the Statesmen to knock off the undefeated Engineers and rebound from our Butterfield bruises , I am also hoping the RPI parents and friends have a strong showing and enjoy the day.

Curious why you actually think the 'administration side of the story' might bring anything worthwhile. They are going to say it's for the safety of the students and faculty. There's nothing more they can or will say. As I've mentioned before, go ahead and close it off to outside fans if you have to, but to deny parents from both the home and away teams is wrong and despicable. Period. There's nothing more to be said or debated. Despicable. Lazy. Embarrassing. Ridiculous. Whatever negative adjective you'd like to use, it likely fits here.
