RPI came to play! Their run game consistency was the major difference. Cortland looked good on the first defensive and offensive series and then struggled. Congrats to RPI on a great game and good luck next week.  Big congrats to my Dragons with a great season.

Well said and congrats on another good year.

Great job by RPI today representing the LL. Coaching was superior with excellent play calling and clock management by Marinopolis. They know how to win these slugfest games.

Congrats to RPI, you guys represented yourselves and the LL well. I think the toughness of the conference showed it's mettle today.

If there is a four corners equivalent offense in Football, I'm sure RPI can run it and scare the **** out of North Central next week.  :o

Not that I completely blame them with their recent success, but the North Central fans are already planning their tailgates for Mount Union.

I'm looking forward to the first meeting between these two programs...  it should be a great game on Saturday!  I hope many of the RPI faithful are able to make the trip to Naperville!

RE: fans planning tailgates for Mount Union: Well, fans can afford the luxury of looking ahead.  And how could they not be?!  The 2019 MU-NCC game was one for the ages!

Not really, most of us are just starting to figure out what we are cooking this week!   ;D  Any RPI fans traveling to Naperville, feel free to reach out with any help with local accommodations (hotel, restaurant, bar, parking) suggestions.  Safe travels.  I can honestly say I don't know much about RPI but everyone is legit when we get to this point.  I would imagine the Cards will be favored on paper or computer (Hansen, Massey, etc) but I believe they said the same about Cortland!

True enough. It's been a great run for the Cardinals since that day they lost to Wheaton in 2019. They've won a bunch in a row. It will likely end against RPI Saturday.  But I have no doubt the Cardinals will re-load and have another great year in 2022.

Not quite ready for that run to end yet!  Enjoying this too much!

There's nothing like it! That's for sure.

The phone is ringing off the hook in Geneva from Naperville asking the question.....How did the Statesmen beat the mighty Engineers? The Engineers seem to not panic on defense and stop every drive, and the offense simply scores just enough to win. The Engineers actually seem to enjoy playing away from Troy(we all know in the LL why that is, thanks to Darth Shirley) and are not intimidated by ranked teams. The Statesmen have decided to be loyal to their Liberty League brothers and NOT provide the key to beating the helmet wearing slide rulers.Good luck to the Cardinals in discovering the secret.....but don't be surprised if the Engineers cause a change in future tailgating plans ;)

Winners close.

I wish I didn't have to spout a locker-room cliche, (because those are problematic for a number of reasons). But I don't really know another way to put RPI's season.

When they need a score at the end of the game, like against Montclair, or Stevenson, or Union? They get it.

When they need a stop, like against St. Lawrence, IC, or Cortland? They get it.

When they need a huge special teams play, and to nail a crunch time FG? They do it.

RPI closes. That's why they're in the national quarterfinal. Amazing to see

Ice Bear

Ice Bear says he is very excited for this upcoming matchup between RPI and North Central. Ice Bear could not be more proud of the manner in which RPI has battled through so much BS this year to reach the success they have this season.

Ice says this is an excellent RPI team with a seasoned and poised QB in George M,  an excellent defense, a great coaching staff, a capable running game, and some excellent playmakers. Ice will continue to root for and respect RPI as they have certainly earned it. With all of that said Ice thinks that this is where the separate tiers will show. Ice just doesn't think RPI, or any team from this region in fairness, is good enough to hang with a team of North Central's caliber. Ice says that is no knock on RPI, but looking at the past and even the manner in which Hopkins ****ing smacked Salisbury, played amazing, and still lost to Mount, Ice just doesn't see this game being close. Believe Ice, he hopes he is wrong, and if there is a team from our side of the tracks that can do this, that deserves to do this, it's RPI. Ice thinks it will be at least a three score margin at best.

Ice has been wrong many ****ing times and he has never wanted to be wrong more than here. Let's ****ing go RPI!
