All these years I have found LewDogg's posts to be quite entertaining.  I wonder what 'gro is up to.

Union89 where are you these days?

Chargers? lame mascot

The Tiebreaker is highest TOP  for a LL Team(excluding the Garnet Chargers). I'm going with Yellowjackets and 36:30.

Hobart 35 Moville 6. Revenge game at the Boz, Coaches will not let off the gas.  (Zero kneel downs)

IC 24 Endicott 27. Away game, roasting late summer sun, crazier things have happened

RPI 35 Wilkes 7.  RPI at home destroys  (1 kneel down)

UofR 28  A State 7.  Home game, home win

Buff St 12  Apprentice 2. (7 safeties in this one, no offensive scores)

Hobart JV vs. SJF JV at the BOZ on Sunday will be interesting to see how the "recruits" stack up and whether SJF is turning things around. Hobart has smartly scheduled 2 JV games early to evaluate the youngin's in a real game. Last week the JV offense put up 42 on Alfred JV. We'll see about Sunday v SJF.

Is True Styles gonna start at QB Bartman?

There are some other big games on the docket for this weekend in the world of d3 football.

#4 St. Johns hits week 2 hard, just like they week 1, this time on the road facing off against the likes of #8 UWW. I for one would love to see St. Johns at 2-0 with wins over Trinity and UWW to start the season. I am a big fan of the MIAC.

#16 Bethel welcomes #3 Wartburg. Bethel breaks in a new QB, 5th year senior George Bolt and Wartburg looks to just be really good.

Last for me is an early season D3 battle for Texas with #12 UMHB heading to #5 Trinity. One of these two teams will be 0-2 after Saturday.

I love these top notch matchups early in the season. Very exciting.

Tru is #2 on the depth chart, so not sure how staff feels about risking  injury in a JV game, but I'll let you know . Hobart has some decent depth at QB, but not enough game experience . I'd rather see Hobart get a nice lead on the Mustangs and see Tru against a first string defense.#1 QB, Johnny Colombi is a runner that will lower his shoulder, so there is always a risk of injury

Looks like the Larries will win TOP this week with a 39:35 against Norwich, also winning the game 14-7 . Can Poppe's Chargers better the Saints TOP tomorrow?

Watching portions of last nights rather boring Saints game last night, I wonder what happened to Coach Puckabner since that 9-1 season when he took over for Coach Raymond(now Williams College). The Saints were in the mix in many seasons and made the NCAAs a couple of times, but last nights game seems to cast them as an underdog to Rochester this year as well as the top 4. Kinda disappointing after such a great first year, which looks like Raymond was the better recruiter and Coach Puck has been a disappointment in selling Canton as a destination while the academic rankings of SLU have actually risen.

I can put my obvious bias aside and admit that this Ithaca team just does not have it this year. They have enough experienced players returning where graduating players from last year should not be an excuse. Endicott is simply out coaching them and they just want it more. This is a really really sad effort from the Bombers today. If they don't have a gut check some time this coming week against Alfred this is going to be a long and disappointing season on the South Hill.

IMO the departure of coach Trevor Warner to Stony Brook is showing to be the biggest loss. This team just not want to be great at this point in time. Sad.

A gritty 4th quarter comeback win for the Bombers but still plenty of work to be done. The LL is wide open this year. Alfred then a bye week and then the first home game on new turf. There is work to be done...

Congratulations IC16 on that comeback and W. That's a character builder and some momentum and confidence they can move forward with. I think it was imperative for them to get this W after last week and they did it. Hats off to the Bombers.

Congratulations to both RPI and Hobart on their wins today.

Hobart avenged last year's sloppy loss against Morrisville with a 27-10 win. Morrisville has talent at QB, RB and WR as well as a stout OL, but the Hobart defense was up to the task causing 5 turnovers (4 INTs and 1 Fumble) . They got pressure on a very mobile QB that was hurried into some bad throws. I felt very good about the entire defense, and we will be ready for the better teams in the LL.
The Hobart Offense totally focused on the run and getting the Oline in rhythm for the season. the unit showed improvement from last week as Rayshawn Bowell had a great game with 20 attempt for 147 net yards and 2 TDs where Mustang jocks were left on the field. Rayshawn is such a pleasure to watch especially since he looks the healthiest he's been since freshman year. Tim Denham complemented Boswell with another professional effort and Freshman EJ Taylor looks like he can handle the ground and pound when needed. The Coaching staff moved a few linemen in and out of the game as they were totally focused on the run game and running an in game competition. I feel optimistic about the Oline improvement at this point in the season. The passing game has not been the focus in the first 2 games as Colombi has also shown an ability to run the ball,(6-45 today). My guess is Keystone will see more passing from Hobart as we try to balance out the offensive attack. Look for a 200 yard game passing against Keystone, IMO, complemented with fine tuning the running game in preparation for the Ithaca game.
When the season started I was not looking forward to traveling to Itaca for a beat down. But after seeing Ithaca so far in the season, I am now looking forward to our chances to possibly get the first Hobart win at Ithaca. Don't get me wrong, I still think Ithaca will be favored, but I feel the team is in a positive state of mind and knows that if they play their game on defense and keep improving on offense there is a chance that Boswell , Denham and Columbi can score enough points to steal a win . I am no longer dreading the one hour drive.

I went to the IC/Endicott game today.  Real good game with teams that really looked exactly the same.  Both teams ran inside zone to death.  Endicott stopped Ithaca on two key 4th and shorts, one of them at the goaline.  Ithaca's offense and defense are simply too conservative.  No imagination on offense until the 4th quarter where they ran a fake jet sweep and then launched it to a wide open slot WR for a TD. Last years Ithaca team would have had 5-6 of those a game with 1-2 usually working (unique plays not fake jet sweeps/passes).  anyway it was a great game and something Ithaca needed.  Ithaca's running backs are tough, but the WR core lacks a playmaker imo.  Defense needs to mix it up a little and blitz, the pass rush has been way down since last year.

Also Endicott may have had 200 players in the sideline and roster.  It was ridiculous.

And Coast Guard put up 93 points today?

Thoughts on Ithaca:

It wasn't pretty, but the Bombers won on the road against an NCAA playoff team, despite trailing by 10 in the 4th quarter and facing a 3rd and 22. Sam Kline has emerged as a bit of a playmaker for the Bombers, with 167 yards and two scores. With their LL schedule frontloaded, there's no time like the present to get a gut check and a new threat. But Ithaca has played 120 minutes of football and not looked sharp for many of them Next week should be an easier game, and then they have a bye. Time will tell

Union: Sure. It was another name the score sort of opponent, and Union did what they were supposed to. Negative 4 yards allowed makes for a fun time, as does 60+ points. If I'm Union's head coach, I'm not happy about the roughly 47 personal foul penalties, but games get chippy sometimes when the two teams aren't evenly matched.

RPI: Kazanowsky looks like the top QB in the LL right now. And a much stronger defensive effort. To me, this is the top team in the LL.

Rochester looks like they have some fight. Last year's team struggled to put Alfred State away, and they are walking all over them right now. Has a spoiler emerged?

Hobart: Vintage Hobart. Dominate on the ground behind great RBs. I'd still like to see more from the passing game, which is currently sitting at 0 TDs and 2 INTs, before putting them fully in the mix.

St. Lawrence: Strong defensive effort, but trailing Norwich at home in the 4th isn't exactly encouraging.

Buff State: I just think it sucks to see them this bad. I remember when they were really good in the 90s, and kind of plucky in the early to mid 10s. I think they could take Dean and they'll probably beat Hilbert, but this is just not fun.

Power rankings:

1. RPI
2. Ithaca
3. Hobart
4. Union (Happy, fellas?)
5. Rochester
6. St. Lawrence
7. Buff State
