Fisher built themselves up, played well on the national stage, began scheduling the likes of Mt. Union, and then they just fell off

Thoughts...

Fisher had an all-time great team in 2006, but the rest of their teams were merely very good, and had a lot more in common with Alfred's run from 04-16 than anything truly great. And then like Alfred, they've just kind of faded away

They gave Mount all they could handle in '06, but then got blown out 52-10 in 2007, 33-3 in 2008, and 52-10 in 2009.

Had nice under the radar playoff runs in 2011 and 2013, but did lose twice each year in the regular season, so hardly dominant.

I think, back when the new stadium and the Bills coming there, made them kind of the Belle of the Ball, it all came together with a really special group of recruits that had their shot in 2006. Tough that they couldn't win it. But ultimately, they have as many Pool A bids as Hartwick

They probably need some new blood there. Vosburgh can probably pick his retirement date though. I can't imagine a world in which he'd be let go for on the field reasons.

I appreciate this IC as sometimes our (in this case my) "perception" of a program based upon a performance etc. plays a role in how we view the entire program over an extended period of time. That 06' game with Kramer under center, among other great players, was so entertaining. You're right though, based on the results, maybe they weren't as high as I perceived them to be for as long as I thought. I know that I just truly appreciated them scheduling Mount following 2006 and took that as a sign they were not playing around. Also having the Bills camp and the hype/possible recruiting advantage that gave around that time makes sense. I remember them having an extremely passionate fan base as well during that time.

For what it's worth, I watched the Hobart JV play the Fisher JV on 9/10. Hobart won the game 13-12 and after Hobart's first series with freshman Tru Styles(I can't wait for Tru to start in the future) carved up the Fisher defense for a  first drive TD,  it was a defensive battle and the Fisher youngins looked pretty tough and the Fisher fans traveled well to watch. Hobart took Styles out after the first 2 drives to assess the rest of the QB's , so I'm not sure how Fisher would have fared if Tru stayed in, but I think it looked like this recruiting class was pretty decent.

This week's installment of Mach's Super Sexy Amazing Jaw Dropping Predictions:

Montclair St. - 21
Union - 35
After I lightly trash talked the NJAC yesterday, It would be a typical Union thing to not show up and have a dogfight or even lose here. But I'll continue giving them the benefit of the doubt for now. I like Union in a 2 TD comeback win.

Rochester - 31
University of New England - 13
On paper, this looks like a very even matchup. Based on the opponents and results so far, I don't think it's that even. I think Rochester roughs em up a bit.

Castleton - 10
St. Lawrence - 14
I don't even like predicting these types of games. Not trying to figure out who is better, but sucks worse. Based on the common opponent of Norwich, I'm just gonna roll with Castleton sucking worse, but won't be surprised if it goes either way.

Dean - 3
RPI - 56
Yeah, if RPI doesn't win by 50+ I'll be surprised, and possibly a little disappointed.

Keystone - 10
Hobart - 35
I wouldn't mind seeing Hobart getting their offense going this week. I'd expect somewhere around a double monkey-stomp.

Compare. Contrast. Let's get one more LL sweep this week. Then it's go time...

I think your "light" trash talking is warranted. The conference is down.

I thought a monkey-stomp was 20 points (Thus, a double would be 40). Or is that in basketball?

A LL monkey-stomp is and always has been 14. Courtesty of my near and dear friend Mr. Enginegro.

TGP will take that bait.  Here's a few that come to mind right off the bat:

"Monkey-Stomp":  Defeating an opposing football team by 21 points or more.

"Double Monkey-Stomp":  42 pt victory

"Hot Like Pee":  Will let Gro definie this one

"Zing!":  Statement made to indicate a great insult/put-down (made in jest) towards another poster

"That's How I Roll":  Indication of how a poster comports oneself

"Shoeapalooza":  Annual Rivalry game between RPI and Union

"Cat Turd Bowl":  Annual game between RPI and Hobart (if played in late October or early November it becomes the "Frozen Cat Turd Bowl"

"Herbs":  Term used to describe nerds or others not agreement with a posters prognostications

"Ya Heard?":  Verifying that other posters understand your prior statement

"Bizaro-neers":  Nick name for the WPI Engineers

"Kinger or Stinger":  Nick name for RPI Head Coach Joe King

"HollaDawg":  A regular LLPP poster that has been AWOL for about 1-2 years and counting.   Where oh where has my HollaDawg gone?

Ice Bear

My predictions for this weekend

Union 27, Montclair St 17 - I think this game will be close throughout and Montclair will show up very focused to face Union. The Garnet Chargers (I have worked through the tireless and uncomfortable process of acceptance around the new name) may be caught a bit off guard after a very solid victory over Springfield last week. Union will get it together enough for a 10 point victory with a late TD.

RPI 45, Dean 3 - This game will be/should be quite ugly. RPI looks like the early challenger to IC in the LL. This game won't tell us much but may be a great opportunity for RPI to get some of it's second and third teamers game experience. It's great to see RPI coming out strong this year along with what seems to be big improvement from Jr. QB Jake Kazanowsky. RPI needed that for sure.

Hobart 41, Keystone 13 - Another game that won't be close as Hobart will take care of business here. I hope to see some more production in the passing game from Hobart. I think this game will provide the young Hobart passing attack a safe opportunity to push the ball through the air more and add more of a passing threat to their O's game.

Rochester 21, UNE 17 - I think this will be a close game and the only difference will be Papatonis. I would LOVE to see Rochester win this game.

SLU 14, Castleton 10 - Castleton will do enough to annoy/scare us LL fans but not enough to defeat the struggling Saints.

This weekend should be a sweep for the LL. While the OOC opponents are not really all that impressive, a sweep would still point to the LL, from top to bottom,  really being able to take care of lesser opponents.

I think a LL sweep is likely this week. I hate trying to predict scores, so I cheated and used the Hansen ratings and adjusted slightly. I think most of his margins are reasonable.

Union 36, Montclair St 10   I think Union rolls at home, but it could be closer if there is a letdown after last week.
RPI 52, Dean 7 Score depends on how long the starters and 2nd teamers play and when coach Isernia puts the brakes on the offense.
Hobart 47, Keystone 7Probably a little closer, but should be an easy win for the Statesman as long as they are not looking ahead to next week.
Rochester 28, WNE 21Toss up. UR should win, but UNE did beat a Coast Guard team that scored 93 points against 2-1 Anna Maria.
SLU 30, Castleton 10Norwich was a common opponent. SLU should get an easy win.

ICAlum16

It is quite alarming to see how weak the non-conference is for every team besides Ithaca. I am obviously biased but this is the equivalent of the P5 conferences scheduling FCS opponents prior to conference play. I have clearly been down on this Ithaca team but continuing to see these schedules makes me feel more confident about a more tested Ithaca team heading into next week.

I can't blame you one bit for thinking that and can only applaud IC for scheduling tough teams. Union used to do this and I wish they would do it again.
