Springield 14- Union 10. Run game on both sides leads to very low score
RPI 35. WPI 14.    Engineers winning either way
Roch 28 Salve 7    Home team wins in LL
WNE 42 SLU 7       Saints outmatched
Hobart 28 Moravian 0.  Way too long of a trip for the Greyhounds, LL is out of their league, Boz
                        record is strong

Good luck to RPI, Union and SLU tonight.

Bombs away

Other than LL games I'm especially interested in R-M and UWL. I think if R-M wins big against a solid Berry team and UWL competes against GVSU (#2 team in D2) we should feel a little better about the Statesmen and Engineers losses.

Union with zero answers for Springfield team they smoked a year ago.

Yeah, weird game so far; Union's younger guys up front are playing pretty well, but outside LBs and the safeties are just getting run over.  Union's offense is playing pretty well - 12 first downs and 240 yards in the first half, but a fumble and some bad penalties have killed drives.

This is definitely the youngest team Union has fielded in a long time; lots of freshman and sophomores starting both sides of the ball, all playing really well.  Just don't have the senior and junior talent that we've relied on the past few years.

RPI monkeystomps WPI, 51-7.

SLU hangs but loses 28-14 to WNE

Union can't stop the option, loses 37-20, the Union faithful are well founded in their fears of the fall off from last year.

Last night, RPI was as dominant as they have been in a long time against any opponent (besides Dean).  They scored touchdowns on their first six possessions and took a knee on the only play of their next possession to end the first half. In the first half, Jake Kazanowsky had a career day going 15-18, 246 yards and 4 TD. Hayden Faraday caught two of the TDs and Kayden White rushed for 85 yards.  All three did not play in the second half.

RPI controlled both sides of the line of scrimmage. The defense smothered WPI almost like they knew every play beforehand.  Furthermore RPI only had two offensive penalties for 10 yards in the half.

The only minor negatives were two messed up punt returns and a botched snap/hold on an extra point. On the first WPI punt, RPI did not call for a fair catch near midfield.  The returner got hit just as he caught the ball and he fumbled.  WPI recovered and went three and out.  The next WPI punt was rolling into the end zone. RPI picked it up on the one and was tackled on the three. RPI then had a 97 yard TD drive.

In the second half, RPI sat most of the starters and lots of people got to play. WPI avoided the shutout when they scored in the last two minutes against mostly players not on the two deep.

Next week at Endicott will be a real test for RPI.  Endicott will have played three LL teams, so the game should be a good indicator of how RPI measures up.

Good luck to Hobart and Rochester this afternoon.

Congrats to RPI on a very convincing win yesterday. I was able to watch most of the first half and the game was never in question.

I wasn't able to watch any of the Union/Pride game but was a bit surprised that Union played as well as they did at times. I anticipated a larger margin of victory for Springfield. Seems the Union O had some moments early.

I am quite disappointed this afternoon as I was looking forward to catching some of the Cortland/Susquehanna matchup. ****ing Flo Sports again. Then I went to check out Rochester and of course they want you to pay (somehow I had forgotten that). For me, I can certainly deal, however if I'm a parent of a player paying 50,000 + a year to send my kid to school to play football and I have to pay more money to watch the game, I'm very unhappy. What a shame.

I did not attend or even watch the Union vs Springfield game. I decided against the drive over and also didn't give Flo Sports a nickel, opting instead to watch Syracuse vs Stanford. That didn't end so well either.

In following the Play by Play it's apparent Union's defense just couldn't stop the Pride's option. Springfield seemed to gain 6-8 yards every rush and hit for big gainers of 63,47 and 22 yards. They even hit passes of 42 and 26 yards. The revamped Garnet D was just over stressed all game.

For the offense Patch Flanigan is coming around. He was 21/38, 262 yards, no picks and 2 TDs both to Robbie Tolbert. Michael Fiore seems to be working his way back on track rushing for 15/73 though he did have a costly fumble right when they were close to getting back into the game. On a positive the O-line did not give up a sack.

All in all this game went exactly as I expected. Union plays at Montclair St. next week with another quality opponent giving them the opportunity to get better before the LL season begins.

JacketsPride

Jackets up 14-0 at half.  RB Jay Zheng and QB Ryan Rose with rushing TD's on solid long drives.  Defense had a blocked punt, another Jordy Tawa interception and was led in tackles by Simon Weeren (5).

JacketsPride

Jackets win 28-6 at home over Salve Regina.  Defense led the way highlighted by a Danny Santos 60 yard pick six and interceptions by Judah Thomas and Jordy Tawa.  FYI- Tawa was a menace all night for the Seahawks.

Offensively, Senior WR Tre Johnson set the program record today for most catches in a career.  Amazingly, Johnson set the record in only 23 games. In addition, RB Daniel Papantonis had a quiet 110 yards and looks back in form.

Unfortunately for the Jackets starting QB Ryan Rose hurt his fore arm late in the second quarter and did not return in the second half.  Freshmen back up QB Creighton Wise was solid handing off the ball and making good decisions.  He does possess excellent quickness and uses his feet to gain yards.  He was 2-4 passing with 16 total yards.  We will see happens at QB.

I know everyone expects the Yellow Jackets to be 3-0 but it feels good seeing them play with confidence. They are home next week vs. UNE

I joked about this in Week 1

But uh...is Hobart really just gonna ride other teams' inability to return a punt to the playoffs? Cause it looks like it right now. They've swung games in all three weeks based on fumbled punt returns. I've never seen anything like it

UfanBill

On Rochester...I'm grateful for the participation here by Jackets Pride and happy for the Yellowjackets but I'm not surprised. On August 23rd last year I said "The Yellow Jackets could easily surprise some folks this year. Led by prolific RB Daniel Panpantonis ...and depth to their roster under capable HC Chad Martinovich...They open LL play at Buffalo St. week #5 before things get tougher. Could they be 5-0 traveling to Union on Oct 7th...4-1, ? Could happen."...Well they lost their opener to what proved to be a strong Utica team 20-17 and got to 4-1 before faltering to a final 5-5 record. This year Rochester has started 3-0 and should be undefeated when they play their Liberty League opener on 10/5, this time against RPI. Rochester has definitely elevated their program but can they sustain it versus the LL Big Four?

IC, I was at the game and laughed hysterically when the Moravian MUFFed punt occurred again . No way when we meet Ithaca the punt returner for the Bombers won't be intimidated by the Muff aura at the Boz ;D

Congrats to Cha Cha on what to me, is a big W. I'm happy for the team and the fans that this team is playing some competitive football once again. There is some talent there and now the LL looks to be a 5 team race. I'm with that said I do think Cha Cha will get stung by IC, Bart, and RPI, but they certainly can and may very well beat Union.

*I must say that I think it's pure garbage that the U if R admin charges fans to watch streamed games online.
