Quote from: Machiavelli on September 23, 2024, 12:34:38 PMBartman, I completely forgot to bring up the UWL/GVS game...Pretty impressive performance by UWL. They were in a position to tie in the last minute against the #2 team in DII. It doesn't make the 35-0 loss any better, but UWL is the real deal obviously. I said after that game that the RPI score wasn't indicative of how tough they played UWL. A break here or there and it was a game. I also said I thought RPI would be a tough out in LL play after that and I think that certainly has credence now. Musta been a cool experience for UWL playing in front of almost 16K people, though. Pretty awesome stuff.

Good point Mach. Hence RPI is the top team in LL at the moment. I like your chances against the Gulls this Saturday. RPI has the best coach in the LL, IMO, so I think he will get the most out of his nerdy SlideRulers.

Endicott is gonna be tough. They are really the only New England team that I think plays a more national brand of football. Their program is in rocket ship mode and you can see it in their aggressive OOC scheduling over the last few years. It's not yet a predictions day, but I'm on the fence about who to take in that one. There's a little homer-ism leaning toward RPI, but still not confirmed.

Bartman's Rankings after Week #3

1. RPI, the SlideRulers kick some WPI butt as Lacrosse loss doesn't look so bad.

2 Hobart, beat a solid Moravian team and Offense breaks out as Defense anchors the team.

3. Ithaca, they didn't do anything wrong , but they gotta put a win up to go back to #1

4. Yellowjackets , on their way to 4-0 before judgement games

5. Union, they can improve , but for now not showing it

6. SLU, they will battle with the Bengals to stay out of the cellar

7. Buffalo St., they are really not too shabby and could move up.

Seems like I just should have copied Mach.

I think we can all agree on the rankings for this week.
Weeks 5 and 6 will be much harder.

Rochester 3-0 for the first time since 2015.

LB Daniel Santos earns Liberty League Defensive Performer of the Week.
DB Jordy Tawa is on the D3Football.com Team of the Week.

Not that anyone on this board cares but I think Buff St. will beat Alfred St. this weekend.
They will have LL games this year that will be closer than years past.

Mach's Amazingly Accurate Predictions:

Season Record: 18-1

Week 3

RPI - 24
(12)Endicott - 23
This has the potential to be one hell of a game. I've been a proponent of Endicott's rise to national prominence and believe they were very close to beating eventual champ Cortland in Round 1 last year. They'll end up with 3 huge games in 4 weeks after they travel to Texas next week. I truly believe RPI can not only hang in on this one, but can knock them off. I think RPI's D gets their act together and the O does just enough to squeak out a W. Really excited to see how this one goes...

Ithaca - 31
Dem Spicy Boyz - 17
Ithaca needs a W. This feels like a great week for it. If Ithaca can get their offense going, this could be over by halftime, if not, it might feel like a grind to a 2 TD win.

Hobart - 28
Keystone - 10
Hobart feels like they are on an upward trend right now. So hot. Hobart. So hot right now. On paper, Keystone should not give too many fits. Pumpkins should take care of business.

University of New England - 6
Rochester - 28
Rochester has scored 28 in 3 games straight so I had to do it. BUT, WPI throttled UNE, RPI throttled WPI far worse. If Rochester is more than quasi-mediocre, we should see a total dismantling of the Biddeford Blizzards....by like 50...

Alfred State - 3
Buffalo State - 35
After Brockport's close loss to Susquehanna and convincing win vs. the Wilkies, Buff State's loss to BPort looks less bad. Maybe they WILL compete with SLU to stay out of the LL basement. Alfred State...not so great. Will struggle to score again after 2 shutouts and only 13 points in 3 games.

Union - 20
Montclair St - 27
It kinda feels like the NJAC is slightly improved from the last few years...I think. I was going to give Montclair more points here, but the offense seems suspect. They are coming off a bye week though and I think that will prove a factor and they will keep Union going in the wrong direction and party at Gepetto's after the game with some disappointed Doids.

Your accuracy is strong but your factuality is weak. This is Week 4

My slightly less accurate picks...I'm 17-2...I've gone against the great Mach twice this week so we'll see.

Week #4

RPI 17 - Endicott 23 ...The Gulls are still winging it.

Ithaca 27- Curry 0...I was sure of this last week. ::)

Hobart 31 - Keystone 20... The stoners :o making progress but not there yet.

Rochester 31 - UNE 13...Yellowjackets don't let down.

Buffalo St 23 - Alfred St 13...The Pioneers rightfully think they can win this game but NO.

Union 21 - Montclair St. 19...The Garnet find a way. Party on the bus.

Bartman's Week 4 Picks( 16-1, missed first 2 games)

RPI -            24.    Endicott.    21.   This might be wishful thinking, but Kazanowsky is difference
Ithaca -        38.    Curry.          6.     Curry is no Vindaloo

Hobart-         41.    Keystone.  10.    Hobart scares me until the second half point sprint

Rochester.    35.    UNE.        13.    Yellowjackets sworm all day

Buffalo St.     17.    Alfred St.  14.   Close one, but Bengals D holds on

Union.           24.    MontclairSt 21.  Patch pulls it out in New Jersey on last drive

Liberty League goes 6-0

Ok. I have no idea what my record is, I don't even recollect if I've made picks each week, and I'm too damn lazy to look back.

RPI vs. Endicott: Obviously I am pulling for RPI here, big time. With that said, I think Endicott will win by 10. *If the Ocean Fowl even remotely look past RPI with sights set on Texas, they will lose. I think they are too well coached to let that happen. RPI is a pretty darn good football team. I think Endicott is just a bit better. Seabirds 24 - 14

Hobart vs. Keystone: Hobart is taking steps. Those steps continue forward on Saturday. They most certainly will not be impeded by a ****ty beer. Plus, the leaves are about to fall and this time of year, Pumpkins are in bloom. Columbi has a good one and they move the ball on the ground at will. Homer's Son 42 - Keystone 10

Rochester vs. UNE: You think I'd give a **** about my second alma mater. I don't, plus I never even set foot on that campus. Wish I had in hindsight as I love Maine. Cha will roll. Papatonis people running rampant. Cha 32 UNE 10

Buffalo State vs. Alfred State - I think the Bengals win. Buffalo State 28 Alfred State 10

Union vs. Montclair State - I really like Montclair's field/small stadium. I think their one point W over Gettysburg is absolutely nothing to brag about and their ass whooping at the hands of a good F&M team tells us that they just aren't all that good. With that said, we all are aware of Union's situation. There is certainly some talent on this Garnet team but lots of inexperience and a line that just isn't there. Drach will continue to have Patch sling it in order to gain experience as I believe he sees something in Adam's...I mean Flanagan, and all this passing is part of his "learn on the fire" plan. I think we see some positives this week in a close game that Montclair will win at home. Montclair State 24 - My Beloved Garnet 17

Bombs away

Week 4

17-2 on season

RPI 27. Endicott 23. Has the making to be a great game. Kazanowsky is improving each week and so is the defense.

Hobart 28.  Keystone 7. The statesman are playing better each week and are on a different level. Keystone is a young program and just not ready for LL top dogs.

Ithaca 41.  Curry 0. Curry gets outclassed from opening kick.

Rochester 24.  UNE 10. Yellowjackets are better than we think and will end up beating a top LL team this year.

Montclair St 23.  Union 14. Drach is a pass first coach with a weak o-line and troubled QB. Recipe for a long season.

Buff St 36.  Alfred St. 20. Don't know how good the Bengals really are but I'm pretty sure A-state sucks.

RPI leads Endicott 20-14 late in the third.  Fairly even game so far with RPI having slightly better stats.  RPI looks like they have lost their top two running backs.  RPI leads the turnover battle 2-1. Penalties are even.

Jersey42

Now 28-20 Endicott with about 5 minutes to go.  Endicott scored on a 76 yard pass and run after an RPI could not convert a 4th down.  On the next series, Kazanowsky was intercepted for a pick 6 on third down.  He was trying to avoid a sack and threw the ball up for grabs.  Neither White or Buckley has returned for RPI at running back.
