This tiny bit of life on the current board reminded Bartman of the wild exchanges here in the old days from some of the most original mudslinging perverted posters that provided a serious level of entertainment and amusement(see pre 11/12/2005 Shoes game posts). Bartman enjoys the current tame exchanges, but would have paid a fee to see the old "fratboy" exchanges of the past.

Those were the days when many disqualified themselves from ever running for president.

In unrelated news, I learned tonight that UW Whitewater has a WR named Brian Wilterdink. I can only wonder what the old LLPP crew would have to say.

UP,
On th etopic of UW schools,  what is up with the constant upvoting of every UW school in the top 25? I know UW Whitewater has been one of the historic D3 powerhouses, but come on 4 teams from the same conference in the top 25?  Even the SEC doesn't get a 2-2 in the top 25 of D1.  Makes the whole thing seem farsical.

Just be happy Delaware Valley isn't ranked like 8th. They are normally the voting committee's darling. Musta been a difficult breakup.

Ithaca...obliterates RPI 33-14?

Bombers put up 481(!) yards of offense, allow just 203. Only a continued disaster in goal-to-go situations and a garbage time score from RPI keep this from being a whole lot worse

The 2 best LLteams kick butt today.Ithaca slaps RPI around and Hobart puts on a ball control / defensive clinic and beats the Saints 39-3. Johnny Colombi returns from injury and throws for 226 yards and 2 TDs while Taylor runs for a Ho-hum 85 yards. Hobart is really coming together before Union game at the Boz next week.

Caught some of the IC game! If they keep it up, Cortaca will certainly be an exciting weekend!

Final Union 31- Buffalo St. 10...Not so fast my friends. The Garnet showed signs today that they may yet be a factor in the LL race. Granted it was against the Bengals, who came out all fired up but later succumbed to the Garnet beat down. Union played it's best game so far. The running game was clicking, gaining 200 rush yards. QB Patch Flanagan finally showed what he could do without D-linemen constantly in his face, throwing for 2 TDs and running for another. The O-line provided solid protection and gave up zero sacks. The defense stuffed the Buffalo St. ground game allowing only 90 yards rushing and getting 3 sacks, while the secondary picked off 4 passes. They were who we thought they'd be.

Hobart and Ithaca seem to have situated themselves as 1-2 in the conference. Is it possible Union may shake things up? I guess, but a win over a Buff State team that basically has no offense isn't going to convince me.The Bengals have 23 offensive points in their five non-Hilbert games this season.

The Statesmen are in control of their destiny, the Bombers have to scoreboard watch.

Don't get me started on the WIAC.  Those schools really have no business in D3.  They are basically non-scholarship D2 schools in every way.  More students at the 8 WIAC schools than at every Region 4 school combined.  With the exception of two Minnesota programs, there are no other public colleges or universities that play D3football for 500 miles of the WIAC.  Totally oddball league in the D3 context.

A very nice outing by the Dutchmen led by an aggressive defense and a great effort for the o-line.  Union had freshman Owen Fernandez (a stud out of Berger Catholic) back at LG, the RG Luke Radar was finally healthy, and having the RT move to center and the center (a three-year starter) take his spot outside has made a big difference.  Union pretty much ran at will and had big holes all day.

On defense, gave up a few long pass plays but 4 picks and 3 sacks were fun to watch.  The youth movement continues; two sophomore LBs and a freshmen DL had sacks, and another freshman LB had a pick.

Union has the toughest part of the schedule ahead of them, but if this team keeps improving and stays healthy, they should have a fighting chance in very game remaining.

Agree, they really have their own D2 league , huge schools with big enrollment means lots of recruits every year. They probably deserve their rankings but having seen the size of the players that walked onto the field at RPI, its tough to compete with them.

I expected Union to figure it out at some point, Drach is too good of an offensive coach to not put it together. So that makes it another competitive Hobart-Union game, I'm just glad that friggin cannon is many miles away.Looking forward to the first time we've had Garnet Chargers at the Boz, but I'll always miss those Dutchmen....well, not really.See ya next Saterday.  8-)

Congrats to the Garnets on the win today. A beat down , hmmm... 304 yards by the Bengals versus 345 for the Garnets, if not for the 4 interceptions things might have been much closer. Hobart held the Bengals to 164 yards... can't wait for next week against an old rival.

.

Very different games. Union held a 24-3 lead midway through the third and it was a snooze from there; we got to enjoy watching the second team offense and defense. Hobart held a 14-3 lead going into the fourth.
