if PC wants to see some hot LL on LL action he should go to Troy this weekend. To be fair, he should check out cortaca on 11/11 since he made shoes '05.

Id actually wait a year and see it at Ithaca.  (Its better there anyway).

Since it has been a while since I actually saw the RPI schedule, I find myself scratching my head wondering how we picked up some of these teams....

Endicott
Utica
Hobart
Becker
St. Lawrence
Merchant Marine
WPI
Rochester
Union

Not for nothin' but what happened to becoming a d3 powerhouse?  That is like trying to gain street credit in the hood by visiting the local elementary school and beating kids up!

There are only 3 real games on that schedule.....I would like to see some real opponents for a change.
I do think that we will see how good RPI is this year come this Saterday

Re: Shoes
Yes Gro is 100% going to be in attendance... and there will be NO driving. Orbitz is my friend.

Re: RPI's schedule
Bring back Fisher!! How stupid does it look that we dropped them (don't know who dropped who but that's NHNT) once they turned the corner? Would love to get that game going again. We also had some battles w/ hartwick.
Those are my picks for sentimental reasons... competitively I'd like to see a regular season matchup against IC, Cortland, Alfred, Montclair or Springfield. Pick up a 2 year deal then play someone else. As usual, props to Union for actually playing real teams w/ their non conference sched.

p.s. 10 games!

Reg,

As a Union fan, I used to think that RPI's relatively weak non-conference schedule was a disadvantage, but over the years I have actually grown to appreciate what Coach King is doing and why.

So much of running the spread offense is based on timing and execution.  Even with experienced personnel, it takes a while to hit your stride.  Those early season games vs Endicott & Utica allow RPI to fine tune the offense and get ready for Bart and Union.  I don't think that opening up with an eastern power would necessarily be to RPI's advantage.   RPI is not a big physical team.  They are going to beat you by playing smarter then you.

I heard the same complaint last year and in RPI's 3 biggest games, they went toe to toe with Bart and the "U" before losing and they took down Fisher in the ECAC's.  Even in RPI's run to the semifinals of the NCAA tournament a few years back, if you check the record they had some early struggles against some weaker teams before hittting their stride and taking down eastern powers Springfield and Ithaca and playing national champion St Johns very tough for a half.

I think RPI is right where Coach King wants them heading into the Bart game and I think that Bart has some real issues with their defense this year.  As a neutral observer, I am predicting a lot of points in Troy this weekend with RPI pulling out the win.

PBR...

it would be kewl if you guys were somehow able to schedule some schools from the mid atlantic region....i.e. rowan, delaware valley, lyco, wilkes etc i have always wandered how the LL would match up against some of these schools on a regular basis

TlM-

Don't get Reg wrong....I know exactly why RPI does it.....but if you look at the schedule as a whole, there is no reason to try to pick up teams like MM or Becker.

Granted I believe that EVERY decent team needs to play a smuck team to open up the year...there are mistakes to be made and there is no reason to throw away an entire season (RPI '00) because everyone doubts themself and gets all down from that point on.

I am saying that as a fan, I would like to see RPI against stronger teams.....I am not driving 6 hours to watch them play any teams besides the Bart or the U.  Those other games don't interest me.

Reno Hightower

Just try to play someone a little better. It hurts the LL as a whole these teams RPI plays.

Take your pick between Rochester, WPI and st. Lawrence

So... can anyone confirm that Redtackle was on the radio team at the Union/Muhlenberg game??

Tlm

Reg,

MM is a LL game so RPI is going to play them whether they are good or bad..   I'll grant a pass on Becker as RPI, along with everyone else in the LL, were caught short when Coast Guard decided to bolt the LL this year.  With schedules already set for 2006, I think the choice for RPI was to add Becker or play only 8 games.

Susquehanna comes on in 2007 and I think the schedules will all change again so that may be a good time for RPI to add someone else.

enough schedules, hobart this week.

Hobart has won the last 4 games in this series... rediculas! I don't think any team has a 4 game win streak against RPI in the past 10 years. To put this in perspective Gro and Reg were playing the last time we beat Bart -- the miracle on '86 field where hobart blocked a FG and flip (the holder) returned it for the game winning TD.

coach king must be foaming at the mouth for this week. I'll bet he turned his hat backwards the second after the utica game ended. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that at 7 kids get JACKED UP by the kinger this week.

"you got JACKED UP!!"

labart96

Woo hoo!!!

It's Turd Bowl Week and to start it off TGP batted 1.00 over the weekend picking all 15 head to head NFL games correctly.  Already awaiting my $150+ for winning the weekly office pool.  Have the Steelers for MNF, but it doesn't matter since I was the runaway winner!

After listening to part of the Bart-WPU game I have to wonder what the deal is regarding the box score.  Says Hobart's D held the WPU guys to 264 yds, but it sounded like the Pioneers were running and passing all over Hobart.

Hobart had some serious rock issues.  No way we keep the Turd if we fumble 5x vs. RPI.

Seems like RPI's best bet is to start fast and keep the pressure on the entire game.  Both the Dicks and PU's seemed to stall on offense late in the game and missed opportunities to put Hobart away.  If we can stick around, I would put money on Mizro & Co finding a way to win the game in the final ticks.

Re: scheduling:

I was happy to see Bart throw down both CC and NJAC out of conference games (although after the first couple of years the F&M game really became pointless).  I HATE only having a 9 game schedule.

Dropping IC and SJF was weak too.  At least we put Alfred back on the schedule.
