Frank -- gro thinks they could use your scenario breakdown skills over in the E8. That conference still has 4 teams in contention although Springfield pretty much gets the AQ with a win this week over IC.

Frank Rossi

I'd need to know the tiebreaker that conference uses.  Hopefully, it's better than the LL tiebreaker.

We've got no clue what it is....

I dont think they'll need it anyways...

In terms of the Hobart-Alfred matchup, there is only one scenario inside the Liberty League scenarios that will make the game decisive of some outcome.  That is only if Hobart beats Union, Union beats SLU, Union beats RPI, Rochester beats RPI, Rochester beats Hobart.  This is the only time the non-league opponent tiebreaker could come into play, with Hobart, Union and Rochester all at one loss -- to one of the other tied opponents.

The Hobart-Alfred matchup really only has Pool C implications for Hobart.  And the way Pool C is shaping up, it may actually be more decisive than we think (i.e., Hobart with two losses -- Alfred and Union -- COULD still make it into the NCAAs).  It's not just the LL that is in the middle of a spread-out conference standing season...It's the entire Division III.

As usual, Counselor Rossi is right on regarding the playoff implications.

The fact that the Alfred game really only has Pool C implications for Hobart is exactly why it makes TGP more than a little nervous.  TGP doesn't want Bart to have a let down and then say "it's ok since we can still win the AQ next week".

Bart needs to roll into that match up with Union with a full head of steam to make up for last season's let down in Schenectady.

Reading up on the Hobart/SLU game, it looks like Hobart came in with a solid plan of keeping SLU's offense off of the field as Hobart had the ball 20 minutes of the first half...And they played solid defense.

With the points SLU put up against RPI, Union should look to do the same and keep SLU's offense off the field and cold and stale going into the 2nd half and they should NOT look past St. Lawrence and look ahead to Hobart.

ZA still thinks SLU is a very good football team.

As I said over on the E8 board, I think it is just a joke that Rochester is getting more votes than Alfred for the Upstate NY poll. I haven't seen Alfred this year, but I just feel UR is soooooo overrated! They squeaked out two home wins against the Larries and Merchant Marine, trounced the worst team in the LL, whereas Alfred has won all of their games (with the exception of the Larries, 17-14) convincingly and played Springfield as close as anyone has all year. Alfred could beat anyone in the E8 or LL at any given time. I doubt anyone would say the same about UR.

Am I wrong here? Does Kapps Killingstad (whom I like) bring something to the table that I'm missing? I just think Alfred, much like Rodney Dangerfield, gets no respect.

URGENT MESSAGE TO GROtah.net

Any thoughts on tonights NFL contest??  'Da 'boys by 3 with 44.5.

U89 is leaning towards the Giants money line @ +155...."We don't need no stinking points."

U89 also likes under 44.5.

The Latter half of Grotah.net agrees......

Dallas -3

labart96

TGP concurs with ZA's analysis.

Up until the Bart game, SLU had stood toe to toe with every team they faced.  They are a well coached and solid team.  SLU could definitely knock off the Dutchmen if Union isn't careful.

Bart just came out firing on all cylinders and controlled the game from the get go.  SLU never got going and before too long, it was too late for them to make a game of it.

Maxpower - TGP agrees that Alfred is getting the Dangerfield treatment.  They hung in with SC and are 6-1 on the season while the Rocho Beez are 5-2.

Gro sees a wild one similar to the Dal/Philly game last week.  take Dal -3 and the over.

note: Gro is an idiot. He knows nothing about sports wagering. This is why there are lines on games. Its really 50/50 isn't it. Use gro's advice with extreme caution.

Gro, if we are gonna market this thing, you might have to stop telling people our secrets.   Below I have some possible logos for Grotah.net.

For those wondering...The Empire 8 actually has a somewhat cogent tiebreaker.  From the League's SID, Tim Farrell:

The following criteria will be used to determine the E8's NCAA automatic qualifier:

(If a tie exists among three or more teams and one of the tied teams is eliminated by this process, the process will begin anew at No. 1 of the tie-breaking criteria among the remaining tied teams).

1. Head-to-Head results.

2. Results vs. lowest ranked conference teams (7th, 6th, 5th, etc) based on final season standings.

3. Results versus common non-league opponents

4. The team's overall quality of win index (as determined by the NCAA procedure used at the completion of the season)

5. Overall record

Frank, the E8 just changed their tie-breaker policy to the below standards.....

1. Head-to-Head results.

2. Teams with the color blue in their uniforms

3. Results vs. lowest ranked conference teams (7th, 6th, 5th, etc) based on final season standings.

4. D3football.com postpatterns index. (# of registered posters/karma)

5. Results versus common non-league opponents

6. Teams that play their home games in Tompkins County, NY.

7. The team's overall quality of win index (as determined by the NCAA procedure used at the completion of the season)

8. Overall record

9. Grotah.net ratings index

10. Team with the most national championships

11. Teams whose nickname starts with the letter "B", ends with the letter "S" and in the middle is "OMBER"

How foolish of me, John.

For those of you keeping track, RT has been on a top secret, fact finding mission in western NY for the past 3 days, the scope of which's activities would make Ernest Hemingway jealous.

Other than not locating Holladawg, RT has mostly encouraging things (except for the Bills) to report out of the Rochester/Niagara Falls/Buffalo corridor of I-90 & I-190.

RT scouted his alma mater in Rochester on Sat night in the class V sectionals. After a monkey stomp for the good guys, RT proceeded west to review the Canadian ballet to ensure quality control is still intact. After a successful outcome there, RT then made his way to Casino Niagara for all night black jack.

RT's observations on Casino Niagara for potential visitors:
1) still jam packed w/ Asians (they love gambling)
2) impossible to find anything less than a $25 table...even at 4am
3) very nice sports book on the premesis
4) cash bar....which was very steep ($8 for a mixed drink) and stopped serving at 2am

RT then made his way to the flea bag dump, "La Rivera", he lucked into for $60/night ...which is the result of showing up w/ no reservation. Trust RT...this was no Riviera. However, there was an authentic bullet hole (no lie) in the wall w/ the slug still in it. RT's seen better mattresses under the highway overpass when he was driving in Boston.

Sunday morning saw RT in line at the duty free store with Patriots fans acquiring cases of Candian beer for the Bill/Pats tailgate. RT sat in the rain and watched the Bills suck worse than they've sucked in years.

KS knows how RT feels, KS is a Dolphins fan.  KS thinks this season is going worse than two years ago.  KS thinks the Raiders better watch out or the Dolphins will steal the number one pick away from them.

KS thinks he might have been better off starting Grossman this week during his bye than Bledsoe.  KS has Bledsoe, J Jones and burress all on his LLFFL team, KS is hoping Jones and Burress have big second halfs.

KS also has Tony Romo, KS almost started him this week thinking bledsoe would get knocked out.  KS is wondering if Parcells is making a switch at halftime.

Man, I used to laugh when Drew Bledsoe got pathetically sacked or threw that clutchtime interception in the endzone.  Now I just feel bad for the guy.  Is there anything more automatic than Bledsoe throwing a intercetion when the team needs a big play?

Dam.  As I type this, Romo has been put into the game as the new Dallas QB and just threw a pick!!!  WTF?
