so who is the best of the weakest this year?

Rolevio

Rolevio is watching Clemson-VT and is curious if it's standard practice for the away team to come out last.   Rolevio doesn't recall ever seeing a home team enter first, was almost as if Clemson was trying to show VT up before the game even started.

can't take credit for that... don't think there's a music program, unless it involves computers.

Just as much negative karma as posts.  Now that is a neat trick.

KS had to give -K so your post:Karma ratio is maintained.

***ATTENTION LLPP***
Capital funding for Shoes 2k6 has been approved by the treasury of groatia and President Gro will be flying back to the homeland of the 518 on November 10th.

Upon gro's triumphant return to Schenectady he will get his fare share of alcohol at one or more of Schenectadys finest drinking establishments (most likely the horses on McClellan) and then challenge all 22 union starters to a mixed martial arts competition at the 50 yard line of Frank Bailey Field (no kickers please).  After vanquishing no less than 18 of the 22 starting dutchemen, gro will arrive at the north lot tailgate at RPI and watch the engineers dismantle whats left of the union football team on '86 field.

K+ to Gro for making the trip back to the 518.

TGP looked into returning to the 315 for the Union - Bart game on 11/4.  40 degree weather and possible snow showers made TGP 2nd guess (esp since it's currently 80 and sunny out here) that decision.

Oh yeah, and the minor detail that Mrs. TGP would immediately divorce Mr. TGP if he skipped town leaving her on her own with a 2 yr old and a newborn to look after.

Rt Rev and ZA will have to be the LLPP sole representatives at the U-Bart game.

However, first things first:

First course:  Alfredo Saxon
Second course:  Flying Dutch
Dessert:  Yellow Jackets

Gotta love dessert with a little honey flavor.

Need to fill 2 spots on the starting lineup
RB, WR/RB

Pick from the following guys (bye weeks are killing me!)
RB W. Lundy vs. TEN
RB M. Jones-Drew vs. PHI
WR M. Muhammed vs. SF
WR. K. Johnson vs. DAL

I would go with Jones Drew and Muhammed.

Bye weeks killed JT in the LLPP two weeks in a row.  Now both his QB's are dinged.

KS is wondering if he should start Grossman or take a shot that Tony Romo will be the second coming of Gary Hogeboom.

As promised, here are the 63 teams (after adding Coast Guard) that have legitimate opportunities to win a bid for the NCAA Division III Playoffs.  The toughest issue was choosing teams denoted with an "X" below – also known as teams that are not receiving Committee votes, but that can still win their conference.  In some cases, those teams could create an additional bid for their conference by winning the conference.  Other teams not included may still have very outside opportunities to win their conference, but if the scenarios remaining did not point to a greater than 20% chance of that happening, they were omitted.  It would take a real doomsday scenario for that to come true to each specific conference.

Omitting Pool B, if we add up all of the higher numbers in "Bids Likely," we come up with 39.  There are 28 bids that will go to the 21 conferences involved in these 39 scenarios.  However, some conference, such as the NEFC and SCAC, give us more certainty with regard to whether 1 or 2 teams will be chosen.  When we omit conferences in which we have some degree of certainty of the number of bids that conference will receive (barring a disaster scenario inside that conference), there appears to be three Pool C slots remaining that nine conferences are realistically fighting over:  CCIW, HCAC, IIAC, LL, MWC, NJAC, SCIAC, USAC and WIAC.  Three of these conferences would fall out of that hunt if the conference winner were to win the Pool A bid (MWC, SCIAC and USAC).  The E8, IBC, MAC, OAC and SCAC need to intently watch the happenings in these other nine conferences, as they would be the runners up to receive Pool C bids (i.e., the E8 and OAC could both receive third bids if more than six of the nine conferences listed do not receive a second bid).

What this all means is this:  we can begin to scope out which conferences are conferences to watch (and thus, which teams from those conferences to watch) for the playoff hunt over the next three weeks.  In conferences where a team has a "*" and an "X" (but no "-"), it probably means that the conference will get only one bid if the conference leader wins out.  Thus, root hard for the conference leader if you're from another conference.  In cases where it appears likely that a conference will receive two bids, root for doomsday scenarios if you're not in those conferences, whereby an additional Pool C bid may materialize for your conference.

There's a long way to go, but this will at least give us some indicator of what 63 teams we can watch more intently for the next weeks.
