VH == butt  heads

Back in the day TGP would have vehemntly disagreed with this assessment.

TGP was a huge VH fan.

However, with age, comes (some) wisdom.  After reading and hearing the stories what EVH and the guys in VH are really like, TGP now agrees.

PBR...

couldnt agree more tgp....a loooooong time ago they rocked and brought a great raw sound to the world....then eddie discovered jack daniels and continued to do triple lindy's and swan dives in it and has wrecked his life, marriage, group etc.....only a matter of time before it drives a wedge between him and his son....

not sure if you have sirius sat radio, but when evh was on stern he sounded sooooooooooo off his rocker it wasn't even funny.  i give the guy's life expectancy about 2 yrs max.

So, RT, how confident are you that RPI will beat Union?  'gro was too chicken to take a wager on the game...I've got the perfect wager for you, though.

Frank

phone it in Tank......RPI over Union

Loser buys seats for the 2007 Belmont Stakes.

hmm......RT could be convinced. However, RT would prefer to go to the derby once in his life. We could probably convince AJ to make the trip too.

Besides....is that really a tough wager? Belmont is enormous and seats probably are readily available. In RT's opinion, that's like wagering me on a $2 general admission entry to Saratoga....

Ever since the six Triple Crown tries, NYRA got smart and increased the face value exponentially for Belmont seats.  Of course, since the height of the increases, we've had no Triple Crown tries.  It's now $10-$20 to enter the park and seats average ~$50-$100 for the Clubhouse area.  So, it's a pretty good wager.  I understand, of course, if you're too scared to actually go through with it.  No problem.

By the way, the Derby is a pain in the ass to get to -- I mean, you gotta do it once in your life -- but you need to have seats unless you plan to use the "mosh pit" (a.k.a. the inner-track area -- where you can see NOTHING) or the backyard (in which you'll watch monitors all day for 8 hours).  Seats and accomodations and flights would run, on average, about $500 per person -- and that assumes you stay in Indianapolis.  My friend and I went this year, parked across from PAPA JOHN'S STADIUM (that one's for tlm), and walked to the track.  Before we placed a wager, we had spent $400 each to get there and stand all day long.

Thats funny.  A freind of mine had this  grandfather that was from big money Kentucky that had one of those boxes with like a few seats at the Derby.  Anyway, he dies like in 1990 or so but for years later the family still had to pretend he was alive just to keep the seats......

That happens with Giants season tickets and Saratoga Clubhouse boxes a lot, too.

Re: Box Lunch at Toga (huh?)

The track is great. What is it $2 to get in and you can still bring your own beer right? The best saratoga race track experience is down in the chepseats or outside in the picnic area.  Grab 3-4 friends, a cooler full of canadian beer, and those lawn chairs they sell at wal mart. Set up shop and follow these simple steps.

drink
place your bets
Watch the race
return to seats
complain about losing
drink

AJ always loved the guys who were about at round 8 who drunkenly heckled the jockeys as they had to make their way back to the jockey house after the races through the crowd.

early shoes weather report: 57 and sunny, 35% chance of engineer monkey stomp.

Shoe's after party is at the ruck, RT is that ok with you? The ruck is a little more roomy than O'Leary's... and gro can get reaquainted with the dartboards.

bigdvs

garnet,

bigdvs was @ homecoming but stayed away from the arts and crafts table and was parked by the DeCresente beer truck serving free Saranac and CoorsLight.

bigdvs has yet to smash this years pumpkin but it could be going for a short flight this evening depending on how much bigdvs ends up drinking. bigdvs will then use the smashed gourd to take and augury and return with a detailed prediction prior to kickoff.
