It also shows the changes to college football scoring over the years.

Years ago The Rev got his hands on a book aimed toward coaches that was published in the early 1950's.
The Rev was very surprised by how vastly different the game was then.  It's more than just the leather helmets and woolen uniforms.  The entire game was strange by modern standards.  Rev wishes he still had said book so that he could scan a few pages and show you what he means. My, how the game has evolved!!!

Rev recommends that hardcore football wonks goto a used bookstore and search for old football books.  Interesting stuff.  The Rev used to frequent Phoenix Books in Dryden, on Route 13 between Ithaca and Cortland.  They might have something there.  Otherwise, check www.abebooks.com.

and last but not least karate (trying to find one that did not look all busted was tough but this one cleans up nice)

TGP recommends John Armstrong's "The Way We Played the Game"

btw - will someone freakin tell/show TGP about how to post html links for crisssssakes!??!?

If the UCAA was so easy to win, how did the U let RPI steal 4 of them? eh? hmmmm?

ok, no more peeing contest there, as TLM pointed out (to 5 decimal places) both teams are arguably equal the past decade.

Now... back to gro's travel dilemma. Do airports shut down from 10am to 3pm? When searching for a shoesapallooza plane ticket Gro had to choose between the crack of dawn 6am flight or a late afternoon flight with a longer stayover and wouldn't hit the skreets of schenectady until 11pm. WTF?  Top that with the fact that you can't get anything out of Chattanooga for under 5 bills (again, WTF?) so gro is traveling to Nashville tonight to stay at the crack motel of his choice before hopping on the 6am bird back to NY.

+K for the explanation and the example used.

PBR...

gro when flying into lesser airports (i.e. not a major metropolis) airlines usually only schedule in 2 flights a day and they are u guessed it first thing in the morning or last one in a night....with their being less demand to get into these airports $$$ wise it doesnt make sense to run flights in there all day since they would only have a few people on them and thus money losers....and cost of the ticket? u got it with little competition airlines will charge more as well as with less people flying in there they need to make more money per person to make it feasible

labart96

Air Travel in general gets the WTF from TGP......

If TGP ever returns to Bart he will have to take at least 2 planes to end up in either Rocho or Cuse and then drive 45 mins.  Some of the trips from the west coast that are offered take you from LA to ATL then to Roch (WTF).

To go back home to the fam in CT, once again 2 planes as the LAX to BDL direct shot was stopped a few years back.

Throw in the fact now TGP now has 2 LPs in tow so travel becomes even LESS desirable.

Naked Nott Run

Gro' your misunderstanding me bro... NNR completely respects RPI football. They are probably the team I keep up with most besides Union. I absolutely wasn't saying that RPI didn't win those 4 UCAA championships because they suck. I was pointng out that it pretty much used to come down to Union RPI most seasons with Hobart occasionally sneaking in. Today, the league we are in is showing to be very competitive and it is kinda exciting going in every week wondering what might happen. In 1999-2004  if you played Rochester or WPI or STL it was like an off week. Now you are mistaken if you underestimate that.

Union-RPI the past 10 years is extremely close... You have had the most success playoff-wise in my opinion which would give you the upper hand slightly... but according to you the most important thing is in fact the shoes game, which we have won 6 of the last 10 and you have won 4 of the last 10 ... which causes confusion with your statement that "RPI fans can enjoy the fact that RPI has been the better program the past 10 years**."

With that the ball busting comes to an end... and though the next statement is false... I still would love to close with a

RPI SUCKS

or as the shirt so sadly said in 2000 (LAMEST SHIRT EVER)

RIP RPI

Mad respect gro' I have +4'd you this week... because your insults are done in a classy way...or as Mrs. Kinger would say... Because you are a funny guy
Anyone notice how none of the kids from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory were even a little bit cool... Where was the athlete who pile drives wonka into the chocolate river??? Coulda done sooo much more with that "classic"

labart96

Even TGP would agree that the old UCAA was somewhat a fluff league in comparison to the current day LL.

Bart was pretty much consistent .500 or lower club until about 98 or 99 (we did have a really great team in 93 that could have been the 1st Bart NCAA playoff team but we blew it vs. RPI after pulling off the upset of then #2 B- State).

'gro

Gro understands what NNR is putting on the table but for the sake of shoes week gro will have to do some old fashion hatin' in a funny way.

Differences between RPI and Union

Student's go here because
RPI: They got rejected by MIT
Union: They got rejected by all the Ivy League schools, and williams.

Upon Acceptance, students receive
RPI: A laptop

Outdated Campus Activity that people still do...
RPI: Hockey Line

Union: Geppetto's... they have chips.

Gro -

TGP agrees will all of the above, but would argue that Cam's Wings in Geneva very well may be the best in NY.

Interesting article on CGA from the Hahfud Courant (TGP posted full text on the NEFC board):

When did Gepettos get chips?

Differences between RPI and Union

College named after
RPI:  Stephen van Rensselaer, upstate NY's first major slum-lord
Union:  Well, nobody really.  Union was the only name they could think of.
