After yet another long day (~3:45 a.m. wake up, finally arrive back home at 8 p.m.) The Rev had the unenviable position of trolling though all of Friday and Saturday's posts.

The Rev is pleasantly surprised by Hobart's performanace.  Sure, he is disappointed by the last minute loss.  In fact, The Rev is glad he was working during the game, because it prevented him from crying like a baby.  Had The Rev been at the live game, tears would have flowed.

The Rev thinks his Rocky analogy from last week is very fitting.  Sure, Bart lost, but the Statesmen truly held their own all game and The Rev hopes Bart gets more respect for playing so tough and nearly beating a team that dominated them just two years ago.

In two more years' time, can Bart pull off a victory?  The Rev hopes that the Hobart coaches recruit like crazy.

The Rev regrets Union falling to SJF.  Mad props to U for a good run this year.

Big ups to RPI for representing LL so well at ECAC.

The Rev will feel empty w/o LLPP Inc.

Take it to bed, you are starting to reflect poorly on SJF.

Fair enough - there was quite a bit of talk from that camp coming into today.

... On to the Pride!

KS - I think he's done. To his credit he is a few deep & letting off a little steam from the previous night's banter.

I hope it is not the LL who is to blame for my dramatic loss of karma this evening.

You gents are typically level headed.

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

frank...I want to ask a neutral person what was your opinion of the Fisher D

Trying to compare leagues and teams such as the E-8 and the LL is difficult...It's always difficult to measure league strength. And it's kind of useless....Union gets blown out by an excellent Fisher Team, RPI, with three liberty losses, beats Union and then beats a very good Cortland squad. Trying to compare by scores isn't easy either. Hobart loses to Rowan only by two points in the final seconds. Union easily beat Hobart this year....

When a team physically dominates another team, that usually isn't an accident. From what ZA was told by folks at the game, Fisher, to their credit, physically dominated the game in every aspect. That has seldom been the reason for Union losing in ZA's years of watching Union Footbal. Even in their losses, they seldom walked away limping off the field from a physical whuping. The last time ZA saw that was the last year they played Albany State before State moved up a division. That was a physical whuping.

It has been worrisome to ZA the last two years that Union has done well with more talented players, but have not been as physical as they used to be.  Even in their "off" years, they always did serious hitting.

Fisher was bigger, stronger, faster, from what ZA was told...It's still a strength game, no matter how many spread offenses try to turn the game into a speed and timing game where you throw the ball 30 times a game.  The game hasn't changed as much as people think...Still won at the line of scrimmage...Even when passing. Still hard to win in playoffs without being a top notch team in the basic fundamental aspects of the game...That's hitting, blocking, tackling, and control of the line of scrimmage!

SJF owned the line of scrimmage....Will they continue their winning ways into the future? Hey, they went through some very lean years when a win didn't come very often.  ZA's hat is off to any program that can turn it around like that.

Thanks ZA - Classy post.

We did dominate the line for the most part, but I'll tell you what, the Union Offensive line held their own for a long time in regards to pass blocking. Our secondary kept the big plays from happening (although we did start to get in the backfield late in the game).

Union's feared running game was completely shut down however.

I just read a stat that Paul vosburgh is 36-9 over the last 4 years...impressive....this team has really turned it around

and the wr 23 had one of the greatest catches I've ever seen he jumped up and caught over the head of a Fisher player and sitll came down with the ball

It's easy to see why #23 had all of the hype - he's the real deal. He's a tremendous WR. You did notice however that all of their yardage & thus points came when Fisher was up about 35-3 and were taking the starters out.

superman57

ya but that was an incredible catch

Oh no doubt - he's a great WR.

On the other hand... #1 is not what he was cracked up to be.
