the point I was trying to make was that don't get all excited about the LL being a great league because in the NYS leagues your second fiddle...the RPI victory over Cortland should be taken with a grain of salt, I think that if they played in the regular season 6 out of 10 times there would be a different result

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

'gro

that's the best part about football, you don't get 10 tries.

RPI all time verses Cortland
1-0 baby!!

super... bad idea with the whole 16 year theory, you have angered the mighty LD11. Gro still thinks you're ok cuz you're from section II.

LD, what's up with MIA??

RPI should probably take their national semifinal appearance in 2003 with a grain of salt too.  I mean, it was all luck anyway.  And because their program has been around for so long, obviously.  The E8 and LL are virtually even every year, with 1 league having a small advantage at the end of every year, this year being the E8, by a nose.

Go back to your other little board and complain about your karma rating.

And gimme your address so I can mail you a few bucks, and you can buy yourself a clue.

What is RPI all-time vs. Fisher?

superman57

RPI has owned fisher over the past couple of years...and that's no suprise... RPI has a great program they will almost always be in playoff discussion as they should be...they are a bigger school and definatly a better academic school than fisher.

Couldn't have said it better myself.  +K

fishers facilities and location (west NY has some OK high school ball I'll admit) brought them where they are now in such a quick time.

Union and Ithaca posters aren't gonna like this statement, but gro thinks part of their early success is that they put more into their programs back in the 80's than most other D3's at the time. That brought the good kids, then the wins, then more good kids. insert cirlce of life here.

Now, more schools are investing into their athletics programs and thinning out the recruting pool. And more kids are getting wise to choosing a school thanks to the internet and places like D3.com instead of saying "Ithaca's got a good program" I'll go there.  Gro also believes that good students (the kind that get into E8 and LL schools) are better athletes now than years ago. You can thank Tom Emansky for that.

I know this sounds like I'm knocking IC and the U, I'm not. Just pointing out the fact that is has gotten very competitive in the east with so many schools in such close proximity competing for the same kids.

This makes no sense. In this logic holds, Fisher will never be competative, as it is half the size of Ithaca, RPI, and other schools. And academic quality is not the same as athletic quality. If that were the case, the Ivy League would always have teams in the top 4 or 5!

superman57

I agree partly with you Radio Mike but the kids that are going D1 are not going for academics...they are going for the potential to go pro...  While kids who go d3 are going for academics.

Superman, by your logic the best D-III conference in the northeast would therefore be...the NESCAC, right?

I loved the Rev's warm comments concerning Cortland. To be honest, I expected RPI to bury them. I did not expect Union to lose, nor lose in that fashion. Hobart played well this year, and it is too bad it ended early.
For those of you wondering if Hobart will have 10 games, next year's schedule has 10!

Sep. 8  at Dickinson
       15 Carnegie Mellon
       22 Rensselaer
       29 at WPI
Oct.  6  at Susquehanna
       13 Merchant Marine
       20 St. Lawrence
       27 Alfred
Nov.  3 at Union
       10 at Rochester

Not too bad...competition against 3 teams that made the NCAA tourney this year, 3 teams that made ECAC's. Look forward to another exciting year!
