I loved the Rev's warm comments concerning Cortland. To be honest, I expected RPI to bury them. I did not expect Union to lose, nor lose in that fashion. Hobart played well this year, and it is too bad it ended early.
For those of you wondering if Hobart will have 10 games, next year's schedule has 10!

Sep. 8  at Dickinson
       15 Carnegie Mellon
       22 Rensselaer
       29 at WPI
Oct.  6  at Susquehanna
       13 Merchant Marine
       20 St. Lawrence
       27 Alfred
Nov.  3 at Union
       10 at Rochester

Not too bad...competition against 3 teams that made the NCAA tourney this year, 3 teams that made ECAC's. Look forward to another exciting year!

Thanks for next year's schedule, RadioMike.  Looks like Hobart will have a challenging and rewarding season.
The Rev likes tough competition.  Facing RPI so early will hopefully give us an indication of how things will pan out over the course of the season.

Does Coach Cragg have any prospects next year for QB to replace Shawn Mizro?

a lot of people go for academics but they go where there offered a full scholarship...but would you choose a poor academic school that is going to give you the chance to win or a great academic school where your team is going to suck...IE be QB at Duke or be QB at Miami

Despite Duke being a Methodist school, The Rev would choose Duke hands down.  Just as if The Rev were offered the chance for PENN or Penn State, The Rev would choose PENN.

It has everything to do with the fact that there has to be life after football.  It's great to hope for a pro slot for a few million a year, but with a business degree from Penn, one can make that money several times over throughout one's career as a currency trader or stock broker or some other Wall Street job that Penn grads pick up easier than the clap.

What is RPI all-time vs. Fisher?

11-1 good guys... somebody **cough** RT **cough** dropped the ball in '93.

RT played on this team...we were 7-2 with a win in the ECAC's over an undefeated Plymouth St. team......

Rev you can't tell me that if you had the chance to be the starting QB at Miami, when it was a good team...that you would choose a small school over the chance to turn pro...

Yep.

The Rev was friends with a few "washed up" and "never has been" pro baseball and two football players.  Having seen what they went through, The Rev can say that he would not want to be a pro athlete.

One of my buddies from high school has a business degree MIT Sloan (or whatever its called) and the dude still bartends.  If your smart, ambitious or simply have a knack for real estate or sales and the like , you dont need a degree (or at least it doesnt matter where your degree comes from), you are gonna make money.

And no one in the LL believes at all that maybe Cortland was a little deflated going into that RPI game?

Nope!! nor does anyone belive that that was really their 4th string QB or 2nd string RB.  But, Cortlands defense was supposed to be good... and RPI put 6 scoring drives on them.

Utah, you were given heat because Ithaca took a pass on a possible ECAC bid.....Cortland took the invitation then claimed a let down.....in the future, Cortland should not waste the ECAC's time and follow Ithaca's path.

U89 honestly means no disrespect to IC....U89's only point is that if Cortland smoked RPI, the CS crew would be out in droves claiming they had been wronged....now face the heat for getting smoked and don't come out with a BS excuse.

Reg knows 2 people personally that "played pro football"
#1 is / was a receiver that has been bounced around a bunch of differnt teams for the last 5 years......never quite quick enough to make it to the show...most of the time good enough to be drafted as a free agent.  He has played for like 4 teams now and made poo poo for pay or just "let go" after they find someone during the tryout better than him.

#2 is a 2X superbowl champion working in DC making close to $12 per hour.  He has a job that you need at least a HS diploma to get.  woo woo.

If someone thinks that they are going to play d1 ball to make it to the show.....I hope you are kidding Reg.  They better have done it for other "reasons"

Guru, why isn't the 10th game rendered irrelevant after the Franklin/Cortland exclusions this year?

Pat Coleman

Objection: Counselor is testifying!

Seriously, does my statement say anything involving Hobart's 10th game and the selection process? I like to see teams play 10 games because it's what's allowed by Division III rules and schools should not short student-athletes the competition and lasting memories in college athletics.

U89, Im not making excuses for anyone, and I certainly dont wont to say that the better team lost in the ECAC game, but are you telling me that there arent intangibles in games that cant be looked at to motivate a team?  Teams in all sports get inspired/uninspired because of certain emotional factors.  Youve been around enough football to know that sometimes teams get up for certain games, or simply have crappy week of practices which then have an impact on the game on Sunday.

What happend to Rutgers this past weekend?  Did they overlook Cincinatti because it was a game they were supposed to win?  Did Cinci play the most inspired game those kids have ever played because it was a chance to put that program on the map?  Im going to say a little bit of both.

Hell, sometimes teams simply give up and start drinking during game week at critical periods when they ordinarly wouldnt if the game or season meant something to them.

Again, Im not saying that Cortland was the better team, or that the better team lost that day.  I just wanted to point out that what makes football such a great sport (to me anyway) is that emotions can win games sometimes, and sometimes the team with the best athletes or coaches dont always win.
