Hey frank, ZA played the game too...Guess that makes ZA more knowledgeble than Charlie Weis and Lou Holtz and a bunch of others who only played some limited highschool ball.

If everyone who played the game understood it completely, waiting for a coaching job would look like the line for american idol.

People who played the game understand the sacrifice, the comradere, the work, commitment to team-mates, etc....doesn't mean they actually understand more than anyone else, how to analyze what is occurring on the field.

Great post ZA.

I'm kinda just noticing that Ithaca posters have sort of subdued their over-exuberance this season moreso than previous seasons.  Actually somewhat refreshing -- I used to put them behind the likes of RowanLB, et al.  Granted, before a Union-Ithaca matchup in the future, I'd expect the claws to come back out :-)

Well one thing that helps is the addition of Max Power, perhaps the most fair-minded fan of DIII football there ever was. Also, the lack of IC ball in late November has taken some of the wind out of our sails, to be sure.

bigdvs

having pride for the 2 playoff victories is awesome (hooray for SJF)

coming to another leagues board and forum jousting with a media outlet that has sat in the booth and watched your team for the last 2 weeks is lame. When Frank makes a criticism of SJF take it for what it is, one mans opinion that has seen 2 SJF games this season.
The only true currency in this bankrupt world... is what you share with someone else when you're uncool.

What is that you want? Compare resumes? Played for 12 years. two year capt. all-american hon mention.  Now coaching my sons pop warner team.  Is that good enough for you.

rowanlb92,

I would normally complement anyone who puts in the time and effort to coach pop warner, little league, etc.  When coaching your son's pop warner team, I sure hope that you are teaching him and his teammates a little something about good sportsmanship, although I wonder given your prior comments here.  In fact, given your prior comments, I wouldn't be surprised if you are a frustrated football dad whose son will probably end up hating the game.

But maybe I'm wrong in reading too much into your callous comments and lack of perspective.

Wow, I usually don't say much on these boards I just observe but this is quite ridiculous  Frank.  I respect your opinions but your views on the Fisher defense these past few weeks have been idiotic.  You must not know much about football if you think the Fisher defense is lacking.  Before the Union game you said fisher "lacked defensive team speed."  haha.  that is there strongpoint.  And I wouldnt call the Rowan offense balanced.  I heard they aren't a very good offensive team from several cortland followers.  After saturday you'll have to give the Fisher defense the respect they deserve!! Go Fisher!!

Listen, I'd like to see Fisher win Saturday.  However, I'm seeing posts saying, "Fisher will have the game in hand by the third quarter" and the such.  If people begin to believe that, then Rowan's got the game in the bag already.  SJF should not be intimidated by Rowan, but SJF should respect that Rowan is a powerhouse (maybe having a down year, but I'd take a down Rowan year over and up Curry year any year).  Comparisons of prior games really need to stop -- and a focus on Rowan is what is necessary to win the game.  Many SJF fans (and it may be contagious to or from the staff/players) are taking Saturday too lightly already.  Rowan is more balanced than either of the two teams Fisher faced the last two games (Union due to injury, Springfield due to their base scheme).  I've seen Rowan play a year ago -- and things have not changed THAT much in a year.
I think you just summed up your entire position on Fisher and its fans in one sentence..."I've seen Rowan play a year ago -- and things have not changed THAT much in a year."

You have been paying lip service to Fisher's trouncing of Union for 2 weeks now, but deep down in places that you do not want us litttle SJF posters to know...you hate Fisher for ending your season this year and you know how good Rowan is because "of last year"

Stop talking out of both sides of your 'Mouse'  And either jump on or off the Fisher train to Alliance

I see Max - But there's no reason to pound me for others comments. I've been getting thrown under the bus lately b/c of lumping everyone together like that.

Great post ZA.

ZA feels this way because as a player, sometimes you only learn what pertains to your position and you can be a great running back for instance, and not really understand the secondary, or what really is involved in game planning...Coaching is an entirely different "ball game".....ZA is amazed at how much people know about the game and how much they don't sometimes.

You reading a bit too much into them.  I never come on looking for a fight!  I just never know when to walk away.  The attacks on Rowan grads, posters, the alumni, stundents, etc... seem endless.  It either makes a Rowan Poster nice as pie as to be looked at as one of the "GOOD GUYS FROM ROWAN" or it gets under some of our skin and we slap back.  I'm one that happens to slap back! Thats all it is!

If anything Rowan, I'd say that everyone on this board has been sticking up for Rowan and asking that they get the respect they deserve.

Your right, I've seen that.  But this all stemmed from Frank hijacking my post! Telling me to crawl back to the njac boards.

Good use of teflon! :-)

And to another SJF poster from earlier who shall remain nameless here, hating the team that ousts your team is so third grade.  I think I'm a little more grown up than that.  I loved the fact that Widener made it to the semis in 2000 after Union nearly came back in its First Round Playoff.  Rowan last year?  I've always kinda wanted to see some new blood in the East, so that wasn't so much a love-love situation.  SJF this year?  If I didn't respect the program and Springfield's program, I wouldn't have sprinted from an extended Thanksgiving weekend at home to do the color (a position that was a first for me -- I'm play-by-play by nature) for a game without Union.  I'm not a massachist.

Frank- gotta disagree. I ain't in third grade, but I don't buy that "root for the guys that beat you" crap. No matter what it does for my team's cred, I want to see the MFers go DOWN when my team gets knocked out in any sport. You can respect the program and still want them to pay for your misery. May not be the most mature thing, but that can be said about a lot of the great aspects of being a sports fan.

Frank your skin is about as thick as the rest of us SJF punks who are "beating you up"  You punk a poster because of the quantity of his posts....good analytical work....

Listen, I'll fight any fight here or elsewhere.  However, is that going to help SJF win Saturday?  Beat me up all you think you're capable of doing...but seriously, that's really displacing the enthusiasm and energy you need to be focusing on your team and Rowan.
Now your accusing the accuser Frank....Where am I beating you up?  You talk all the bs about good sportsmanship and respecting the opposing players, yet you BLAST a new poster because it was his 4th post?????  Like I said get off the soapbox and deal with the fact that you are just a poster in here....nothing more, nothing less.  The games do not revolve around these posts, they are played on the field.  Please enough already with the perception that somehow the Fisher attitude in here should be focused on beating Rowan.   While I do still keep in contact with Coach Vos, the next time he asks me for my opinion on this week's scheme or asks me to post the team's attitude or opinion in here will be the first time since '95.

...and that's Vos's right as a coach.  I'm not trying to coach his team.  In fact, if you remember, I stood up for him on the E8 board a few weeks ago when people were trashing his decisions in the past.  No coach is infallible -- and I've been pointing out here things that I noticed from upstairs the last two games so that SJF fans realize there are some areas for improvement, concern and/or question coming into Saturday.
