Plus, Tags feels a Saxon-Statesmen rivalry would be good for both conferences!

The Rev is all for an Alfred-Hobart rivalry.  As said a few days ago, The Rev wants more inter-league play in order to show that LL teams can hold our own against E8 and NJAC.

Speaking of rivalries - LA Times' Sports section has an article today about the trophy from the first ever Harvard-Yale Crew race having an (outrageous) asking price of $30 MM from the schmoe who happened to come across the trophy (which are wooden oars) in a property they bought in New England.

If any members of the LLPP owned, let's say, the Dutchman's Shoes (or if you are an E8 guy - the Cortaca Jug), what would your asking price be?

Please discuss amongst yourselves.....

Apparently, FSU's National Championship Trophies were worth $30K.

Does that set the market on the Jug/Shoes?

That is correct 'gro, but the bike tube of fat above her skirt is not too flattering. But, then again, it is a "clean cut" commando shot.

Would the UR-Hobart series be Hobart's longest?
From the SID CSI files:

Hobart Football played 2 games in 1891 against Canandaigua and Cornell Frosh, winning both.

In 1892, Hobart and Rochester played their first game. Hobart also played St. Johns that year, and ended up losing both games. Interesting is that it looks like it was the 99th meeting, with 2007 going for the century mark.

Hobart played Union staring in 1896, for a total of 90 times through this year.

Alfred is next, with 77 times through the game this year, starting play in 1899.

So, in longevity, Rochester would be considered the longest "rivalry" but the Hobart Union and Alfred contest has the spirit behind that word.

Over on the lacrosse side, Hobart and Cornell is one of the oldest rivalries in all of college sport, starting in 1898, and playing a total of 126 times through last season. Hobart played Rochester twice in 1899, losing both games. As for rivalries, Cornell and Syracuse are the oldest in the spring sport, but there have been others during the years, including 'Gate, Bucknell, Georgetown, and in the DIII past, OWU, Washington College, and Nazareth in

[It was in that game the Frenchy (may he rest in peace) fell on top of AJ deeply cementing him in the bozwell mud.  if you looked at eye level with the field i bet you could not see AJ's body.  That was a great game though....

One of my most memorable Frechy moments, was at Alfred. We were in the booth, and the Alfred broadasters from the commercial station that covered their games were looking down at the field, wondering who the player was. When they looked in the media guide, and saw him listed at 350, they both proceeded to say that was quite a bit off. I do remember seeing one one of the Saxon linebackers running right in to him, bouncing off and landing on his back and Pat did not move an inch!

Nevermind...I see the reason...the elimination of the 2 point play thread.

As for Alfred-Hobart, TGP also thought we inaugurated the "Ho-Fred" Cup to the winner of the series?!?!
Other names for the trophy: Sax-Men
Sax-Ho (I will leave this one to all of you to commet on!)
                                              State-Sax
                                              Ho-Sax
                                              Alf-Ho
                                              Bart-Sax
                                              Sax-Bart
                                              Bart-Fred
Or based on the teams colors, how about the Barney Cup?
and the hits just keep on coming!

Was basing my 100th game on info provided this year's Bart-Roch game notes from the Hobart Football website.  They said this season's contest was the 100th meeting btw the schools.

Check that - actually TGP thinks it was the WEOS announcer who said it was the 100th meeting.  Found this in the sports clips:

"It will be the 99th meeting between the two schools with Rochester holding a slight edge, 47-44-7. However, Hobart has won 10 of the last 13 showdowns."

Going for 2 in the Rowan game reminded of the 96 RPI game at the Boz when Nico K caught a low Greg H pass for the 2 pt conversion for the win.  Cragg never plays for a tie.
I remember that game, and Nico ending the RPI winning streak, and any hope at a possible ECAC bid. The next season, Nico was working in Sports Information, and was at the Hobart RPI game. When he introduced himself in the pressbox at the turf field, a lot of heads turned, and someone whispered, that's the guy that ruined it for us last season. Nico was a great player and really nice guy!

My favorite score of all time in the Hobart-Rochester series: 1993 with Coach Maxwell and Cragg, Hobart 2 Rochester 0 !

It's true.  You can find the photos on the internet.

The Rev saw the photos and was suddenly overcome by the urge to smoke...

RPI has a nice fly thru video on their website of the new stadium layout. Will '86 field be history in a few years?
