Reg has a question......
What rocket scientist in the bank marketing industry is going to figure out that PEOPLE WILL MOVE TO YOUR BANK IF YOUR BRANCH IS OPEN UNTIL 6!

Seriously, move the hours to 7-10 and 2-6.....I would switch banks!

Re: bank of america

a while back everyone slammed BoA while gro defended it... the other day gro was doing some TV shopping. Played around at best buy and CC, found what he liked, and purchased it off amazon.com (saving a ton of $$, much less than BB/CC plus free shipping and no sales tax).  The next day gro's check card is DENIED. Luckily, it was at the gas pump, so not so embarassing. BoA sends an email saying "irregular checkcard activity, please call".

Here's where the problem starts... 1st off is having to deal with the computer asking what choices I want. There is no choice for "card deactivated". Every time I get a rep, they transfer me to another.
Your account was created in Florida? let me transfer you
This is your check card? let me transfer you
I'm new, let me transfer you

AAAAAH!! it took about 30min to find the right person to hit a few keystrokes to get my card turned on.  You made a powerful enemy today BoA.

Friend had asked me to deposit some cash in an emergency recently in his BoA account -- no prob...until you get to BoA.  My closest one is on 57th St. and Broadway -- a.k.a. a busy intersection.  They have four teller stations in this whole branch, two of which always seem to be in cross-check mode.  Line is often out the door waiting for assistance, much like this day in question.

I fill out the deposit slip, and I notice that there's a distinction between NY-opened accounts and any other state -- just because BoA was created through 900 mergers, you'd think a computer could distinguish these issues solely through account number (Citi seems to avoid this issue somehow).  OK, deposit ticket filled out and I get in the major line.  Waiting...waiting...waiting...45 minutes, finally near the two open windows.  Of course, one closes.  I'm ready to turn the deposit ticket and cash into a paper airplane and just heave it into their window, hoping they'll accidentally find it and deposit it.  I do the FR arm crossover at this point and stare at one of the closed tellers as if burning a hole through him will get him to open his window.

Finally, I get to the open window, and the teller tries to strike a convo.  Not biting.  Then he proceeds to lecture me about how I should have used the deposit machine (for deposits and bill payments -- it's not an ATM, but I trust it as much as a trust a mailbox on a city street).  Then they act like my friend's account number denotes it was opened in New Jersey (it wasn't).  At this point, my bushy eyebrows were cleaning cobwebs off the ceiling.

Moral of the story:  BoA has some serious deficiencies, especially in some of its branches here in NYC.  Access to money is great (hence why I opened the account that I described a couple weeks ago), but it seems like they don't cooperate in actually giving your money back to you, or even taking it in the first place.

'Gro, a man of your taste and means deserves American Express Platinum.  You would've gotten an extra year warranty on the TV.  FBoA.

Gro should be safe since he has aged out of the draft at 27.  Unless Democat Rep. Charles Rangel has his way.... then no regular man or woman 18-42 would be safe. He wants to change the age restriction.

gro would show up thinking they meant draft beer, or fantasy football drafts.

Re: BoA
yeah, they have some behind the scenes issues with what state your account was started in. Gro doesn't normally go to the bank but had to deposit xmas money and went through that whole issue.  Maybe they should use their (my) money and hire an IT staff instead of singing about how cool they are

If Clinton had not slashed the military from 18 combat divisions (first Iraq war) to 11, we'd have plenty of troups, regardless of one's position on the current conflict.

JT uses the ATM only when making deposits... even cash.  He hates BoA tellers so much that having to deal with them on average of once per year is too much.

At least the one thing you get with BofA is decent ATM availability.  TGP and Mrs. TGP belong to a smaller local bank here in LA that seems to have ATMs in only 4 locations in the entire city - fortunately at least 2 of those are close to TGP's house and office.

The flip side though is that the customer service we receive if and whenever there may be an issue is always excellent.
