tis the season, for lame superbowl parties.  The SB is 2nd only to new years eve for amature parties.

Someone asked today if I wanted to go to their lame-o affair. Gro said he didn't have plans and would "consider it". She then listed off 3 other people on her invite list that Gro wouldn't hang out with even at the playboy mansion.  Gro must now avoid contact all week (mostly because Gro is a terrible liar and making an excuse for not showing up would just be insulting.) Gro just wants to lay out on the couch in front of the 40" not make small talk!!

and this is the kicker... invitee doesn't even know who's playing. Gro informed her it was Chicago and Indy and she said "the cubs?".

Gro superman feels your pain....superman hates going to the parties...because once anyone figures out that superman knows what he is talking about and that superman majored in sports managment they all talk to him and he misses the actual game

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

You've gotta want this beer awful bad, I'd say ...  :o ::)

So, what kind of beer would fit with this theme?

Amen 'gro...Realistic has taken to turning down all Super Bowl Party invites.  Me and a couple buddies is all I need for a good Super Bowl.  I have never enjoyed the 20 Folding chairs and barely seeing the TV for the Super Bowl.  Amateur Night #2 is correct.

Frank Rossi - if you're around, nice job summing up D-III 2006 for K-Mack's Around the Nation...well said and (I assume) felt by all of us in LL, E8, et al Nations.

Gro's superbowl party guide.
You need 3 things for a good superbowl party...

1. seating
Obviously the most important. This is not a normal party with people milling about schmoozing. You are going to be sitting for 4 hours glued to the game and the comercials, getting up only for snackage, drinkage, or leakage. If you can't sit the people comfortably, don't invite them (i.e. no kid's desk chairs).

2. big TV
This is where people falter. This isn't 3 chicks getting together to watch grey's anatomy, this is the superbowl. Gro is going to set the bar at 32". High Def is a bonus, almost a must have in 2007.

3. food
This is a little subjective. Play to the crowd here. 1st off make sure you have enough... and don't get anything out in left field like super happy tofu soy burgers. Guests should bring stuff too. Drinks are bring your own. The host should not have to share his/her stash.

There you have it. If you don't have 2 out of 3, don't even try. Even then you are asking for trouble. Good luck LLPP.

Looks like coors light.

Touchdown Tommy

Enginegro: Touchdown Tommy disagrees with you.  The Super Bowl is #3 for amateurs behind NYE and St. Patty's Day.  That one never fails in TDT's book.  However, I will agree, nothing worse than having to bullsh!t and make small talk or "rave" about the newest commercials.  Listen Joker, TDT is here to watch the game, pay attention, and eat some chili.  Now leave me the F alone or you'll be receiving a knuckle sammich.  I may be anti-social but staying at home with a few cold beers, eating well (brats, hot dogs, chili, nachos, etc.), and tuning in on the 42" HD sounds mighty fine for this Sunday.  Also an FYI: NFL Experience is in Miami this week (along with 67 other events).  TDT went to it in 1992 when it was held in Minneapolis.  It was a good time, especially for a 10 yr old kid.  Has anyone been to a recent NFL Experience?  TDT is considering making the drive to Miami for this.  Also, did you clowns see that they are having a "volleypalooza" next Saturday on South Beach.  350 models playing vb all day long.  I have a feeling South Beach and Miami will be an absolute zoo this week.

3-1 odds that Tank Johnson picks up a stripper and brings her back to the Ritz-Carlton South Beach...
Chasing MILFs since '82...

nah....Super Bowl is def #2 on the list.  St Paddys can be bad, but usually you can find an out of the way bar(s) that aren't mobbed and have fun.  'gro's list is spot on for seating and TV size especially.  I endured the metal folding chair for the Super Bowl in '01 and will never do that again.

TDT - gro hears you about St. Paddy's day. Maybe it should join NYE and the SB as the holy trinity of amature night. Bars that have mardi gras and cinco de mayo parties are also big amature targets.

Gro agrees that watching the game with the fewest people possible (even by yourself) is the way to go.

Regulator

Yoiu guys are joking right?  Reg COMPLETELY agrees with TDT on this one.....
Where else can you walk around the bars and see people puking at 3pm?  Oh it's st pattys day.....nice freaking green hat.

Soopa bole should be reserved for only the closest of friends, i.e. someone you can tell to shut the * up dood....I am trying to watch the game.  Women are only to be invited if they know how to keep the beers full and cook american tapas (e.g.- nachos, dip, and pizza) and do not comment on "how dirty some of their jerseys are" or "how funny the nextel commercial was"

I usually like to watch the game here.....it makes it much easier for everyone.  (especially if the game sucks and I want to go to sleep.

superman57

honestly nowa days I would say HD and surrond sound is almost a must for a party....and the food is a must....at the superman household ma and pa superman are doing garbage plates for dinner...

Cubs  ;D For JT there used to be good SB parties.  College SB parties were great, followed by his early batchelor post grad days.  Lotsa of cool doods that knew how to hang and for the most part even the chicks could hang.

JT's roommate had a big projection TV Jr/Sr year.  First gig out of school JT lived in this huge house with 5 other doods. Big Frat house mentality... we all threw in for a kick ass sound system and projection TV.  One of the dood's Dad owned a TV audio/place.  Got it for cost plus delivery.  Awesome times.

Mid- 20's to 30's - Fair share of crappy SB parties with people from the office.  Many times parties were thrown by a boss or supervisor.  JT most fustrated by the amount of people who thought they knew football, but didn't.

The FMJT era - Hanging with the family is OK.  Dad and bro make it worthwhile.  Mom will never get football. FMJT is just glad football season is over.  Just wait till she finds out the JT has Rutgers tix for 2007 to go with Rowan, Jets, and any d3football.com resposibilities.

This year JT's sister is hosting.  They live in the sticks in Northwestern NJ (they frequently see bears).  Two hours roundtrip.  FMJT has never been fond of going out there.  FMJT is hoping for bad weather so we can stay home.  JT's cool either way.  JT's recently upgraded his audio visual systems.

Brother in law built a cool basement hangout complete with 50"+ HD TV and theater sound set up.  FMJT is making her awesome pulled pork for sammiches.

PBR...

gro....1 of 2 things is happenin w/ that invite...either this girl thinks and wants you to be the life of the party i.e. chit/chat make jokes, schmooze with all the guests so everyone has a good time or....she or one of her friends wants to get to know gro a little better and invited you just for that purpose of having a few cold ones and loosen up....because no sane woman would invite a man to a sb party not knowing who was even playing....suzy kolber maybe go to the party and talk strategy and man to man vs. 2 deep zone but this chick wants the party time with the tv on in the background type of gig...no dice!!

superman57

though hopefully this will be an entertaining super bowl...because most of the time... superman gets bored of the blow outs...and we end up playing madden super bowls instead of watching the boring game
