Rev:  A couple of my ex-military friends were very surprised she was a captain at such a young age. I for one did not realize how high a rank captain was. I thought every little tug boat no matter how small had a captain on it, and it was explained to me they do, but the captain is not necessarily, or even often, a "Captain"  I guess being an astronaut had something to do with that.

There are always a few "high speed" individuals in any branch.  But to be a captain at 42 is pretty impressive.  Most officers will retire after 20 years as a Commander (=Lieutenant Colonel).  To get that eagle (Captain = Colonel) is VERY difficult.  The Rev meets a dozen active military or retirees per day...only one since 2001 has had stars.

Being a USNA grad was a good start.  Being a woman did not hurt her promotability.  It probably got her extra points as the Navy strove to meet quotas.  What boggles Rev's mind is that she was an aviator, and all the aviators The Rev has known (a couple hundred) have all been promoted more slowly than their surface warfare collegues.  It didn't hurt that she was an engineer and test pilot.  No matter, this lady had some serious brains and talent.

This whole deal is very interesting to The Rev.  This lady had it ALL!  And now...in a way The Rev feels sorry for her, but it confirms so many of The Rev's suspicions re: human nature.  Truly pitiable.

Are you guys from Albany/NY serious?  WTF... http://wcbstv.com/topstories/local_story_037234835.html

Welcome to the Nanny State.  Please leave your brains at the border, because your azz belongs to us!

It's the law in Vermont that you can't  listen to an I Pod in a cross walk? Isn't Vermont where folks got upset some guy was sentenced to 60 days in jail and ordered to undergo some kind of treatment after repeatedly having raped a child over a period of years?  Go figure.

My sister lives in Vermont and that is the law there.  People just walk out, doesn't matter if a car is coming or not.  First time I went there I complained when I got to my sisters place and she acted live I was crazy.....

In The Rev's hometown, bustling Norwich, NY---gem of the Leatherstocking Region, pearl of the Allegheny plateau, crown jewel of the North American Continent---we have a law that requires cars to yield to pedestrians.

Yet even we hillbillies have the good sense to stop at the curb, look both ways and wait for the car to actually yield as it should. Then cross.  We give a friendly little wave to the driver, mouth "Thank you," and keep on trucking over to Ninas's pizzeria.

It just goes to show that city folk don't have a lick of sense.

seriously this chick is going to get off of everything because there is serious mental illness here...She will spend the rest of her life in a nice padded room where she can wear that diaper...but still better than jail

You're the only dood on the board that doesn't know & accept that '57 can't spell.

Poor grammar and horrible spelling... it's just how he rolls.

Reg, Ox has seen some near misses in DC. Walking from Federal triangle to the DOJ building....You need to time the crosswalks just right. People will hit you and if they are a diplomat they really dont care like the badguy in lethal weapon 2

True dat on the diplomats.  They give less than a **** around NYC.  Throw parking/moving violation tix right on the ground.  If you wanna get your ass run over step out in front of them and see if they'll stop.

Can't wait for the UN to go condo.  They are almost completely useless as a group.  Especially when terrorist nations have a vote.

RE: The Ipod Law

Sometimes ya gotta thin the heard.  Enacting this law just allows more stupid people to procreate and continue to waste precious resources.

Speaking of Ipods, there's gonna be a lotta deaf mf'ers in 20-30 years.  JT can hear not only the beat but the melody and lyrics being sung from up to 30 feet away on many people's pods.

superman is one of those who walks with the IPod...but he usally has only one ear phone on...so he has never been hit (yet)

Nina's = an excellent restaurant!

You know it!

Seriously -- and this is no mere hometown pride-- Nina's is an excellent restuarant.  The Rev knows people who used to work for P&G in Norwich and are now back at HQ in Cinncinnati who try to get seats on the corporate jet back to Norwich so they can pick up Nina's and bring it back to Ohio.  Dudes will take orders, pick it up, and bring it to the office for distribution.  It's crazy.

The Rev recommends the Pepperoni Roll.  The Rev and his sisters always go home with a tupperware box full of PRs after a visit to Norwich.  The Rev's Dear Old Daddy has even offered to FedEx Nina's.  (Which is a service Nina's will provide to regular customers who have moved away.)

This is one of the great things about a small town...The Rev knows the Nacastri family (owners of Nina's) well enough that if The Rev is penniless, they will give him food anyway.  They know they can get the Rev's dad to pay up (because he eats lunch there everyday) or that The Rev will pay the next time he shows up.  No worries. It's better than family.  Sometimes they will comp the Rev's pizza just for The Rev's famous imitation of one of the local "characters" Greg Bruscwicz (a.k.a. Brusty).  Morals?  The Rev has few enough that he is not ashamed to imitate a handicapped dood in exchange for free food.

Outstanding.  BudCrew, you made The Rev's day by giving props to Nina's.

Fellas - I see that 'gro and AUPep already saw it and contributed, but go over to general football - Tranfer and read the two pages.  It's amusing stuff.

That was good stuff.  TGP spent a little time on the SCIAC boards last season and noticed those guys take things pretty (almost too) seriously.

TGP also saw how one SCIAC team's players Dad who posted as if he wasn't associated with his kid's school got called out, then vanished, then came back to the SCIAC board with his tail btw his legs.

Hey, it's LA baby.  We always bring the drama!

PBR...

that always cracks pbr up when people forget to hide their email addresses and start posting as if they are some anonymous poster who is curious about a certain player and then they get called out....almost time for LOST
