Gro was watching the big east bball tourney last night and who did gro see playing for St. Johns?  Anthony Mason Jr.   Son of the former Knicks enforcer and part time basketball player.

Patrick Ewing Jr. plays for Georgetown... do Oakley and Starks have any kids?

'gro - I love that those 2 are now in the Big East.  The 'cuse has former cuse and NBA player Leo Rautins' son Andy playing well now.  (the womens team has Bill Lambiers daughter)  I am trying to think b/c  I think there is at least one more well known name in the league but I can't think of it.  (I'll research when I get a chance)

I'm just mad b/c Anthony Mason Jr. doesn't have cool hair like Pops.

OK, Gentlemen (?) I thank you for your many invites to join in, since I actually have something to contribute to one of the current conversations going on re: basketball. Doc Rivers, the former NY Knick player and current Celtics head coach, also has a son, Jeremiah, a freshman, who plays for Georgetown.

Glad I was able to amuse some of you with my comments. Hope there are no hurt feelings...that was not my intent. I guess I may have been a little intimidated, as if I were intruding in a private conversation.

As far as my allegiance goes, that will remain private, as I in no way wish to embarrass or humiliate my son with my lack of knowledge on football, and sports in general. I realize that email addresses are available to those who know how to find them, but I feel that respecting my right to privacy would have earned you more karma points.

Someday, I might tell you all where my allegiance lies, but for now, I will remain LLFtblMom.

Love, Mom  :-*

Sir Spiedie

Welcome!
As far as embarassment, as the parent of a 17 year old, I thought it was my duty to embarass him.

THANK YOU - I knew there was another...I think he was mentioned when they were talking about Ewing Jr during the Gtown / Cuse game last week.  That was bothering me.

As for the other, I agree that the LLPP crew can be intimidating with the banter and inside jokes (it took me a while to get comfortable from the E8 pages) but it is a good time over here.  While football talk may be in short supply during the off season, it picks up come summer and while there may be a lot of barbs going back and forth it is (almost always) good natured.  WELCOME.

That is a refreshing take.  Seems like parents that post on here only end up at the extremes.  They either really embarrass their sons (not for lack of knowledge but usually for lack of tact, windbag comes to mind) or end up being good posters (see Mr. Napeolone).

Is your son a current DIII student athlete or about to be?  This place is loaded with former LL players.  Ex-RPI players Gro, Reg, LD11, Oxbacker, Applejack tend to predominate. NNR is a former Union player.  Frank Rossi is the Union radio broadcaster, but doesn't post much in the off-season. Budcrew writes the d3football.com East ATR and is a former Utica player.

The funny banter of the LL has attracted hangers on like me (JT and NJAC'er) a d3football.com contributor, voter, photographer and webmaster of rowanfootball.com , Knightstalker an NJAC'er who's football team Jersey City went defunct a few years back.  PBR and realistic from the MAC. TDT and Kilted Rat from the MIAC.  Oh and Pat too, he won't admit it but he likes this place.

Sir Spiedle is new and I'm not sure where he is from.  A few other regulars and semi-regulars pop on from time to time, and their handles escape JT at the moment.

Lot of football knowledge here.  The RPI guys "created" the frat like environment, but don't let it worry you.  We can be good for a laugh on a bad or boring day.  If you hang around often enough, you'll start getting the inside jokes too.

Not sure exactly where the third person started.  And we have a gothic week during the Fall.  We change all our handles to knights, kings, dragonslayers etc., and post in old English.  Second annual is expected late Fall '07.

So ask about schools, camps, coaches etc.  The LL and E8 enjoy outing players who pretend to be fans or friends of said player and parents who are braggarts or pretend to be an anonymous fan.

There is an RPI Dad who talks about his kid's actual progress.  He's proud but cool.  So feel free to do the same.

welcome aboard LLmom.  Most parents on the boards fare well. Others don't. You've probably lurked long enough to know how it works.

If you son happens to go to RPI, gro is available (offline) to handle important parent questions such as

1. Who is "big brother" and why does my son talk about him 24/7?
2. Was my son lying when he said he was attacked by an albino squirrel?
3. This tuition bill, this can't be right?
4. My son wants a car or he won't go to any classes in west hall, does he have a valid arguement? (free advice, the answer is yes.)

PBR...

llfblmom....no need to say who your son is....although supporting the school or team wouldnt be a  bad thing....pbr knows numerous parents who post on these boards whose kids play and dont reveal who their kids names....so feel free to cheer on and support the school your child is involved in and no worries. its good to have you aboard and yes after awhile you will start laughing at some of the banter on here and may actually chime in at times. bottom line is we all have a great respect and passion for d-3 sports.

Oh and the LLPP is the fictional corporation for the members.  Kinda like if we were the billionaires boys club, we'd really live a different lifestyle.

So if someone mentions contributions, resolutions, business decisions etc., to the LLPP, you know what's going on.

Hey, what about Fins?

Not sure exactly where the third person started.

Correct me if I'm right, but I recall that there was an MIAC wide receiver who was actually quoted referring to himself in the 3rd person (2005 season?) which caused much laughter and criticism over on our board and some posting in 3rd person for awhile. This spread over to some boards, but for some reason it stuck here.
Until someone comes up with a better story, that's it.
Maybe LLPP should get an intern, to whom this research task could be assigned.
Requirements: smart and good looking.

LLPP faithful would know without a doubt that the Holladogg was the driving force of the 3rd person.  About a year and a half ago Holladogg mysteriously disappeared from the boards.

There is currently an APB out for Holladogg.  He was last known to be wearing a garnet jersey with "Holla" on the back and "LLPP 4 LIFE" on the front.

Please forward all leads to Gro.

Alright REG here is the deal...

They say make an appointment for Monday morning and "we'll take a look at it".  Done.

Monday morning I arrive at the auto garage at 8am sharp.  Hand the snatch secretary (Bich Gatekeeper) the keys and she says, "You know TDT you have to allow the vehicle to be here all day."  What? Are you kidding me?  I made an appointment.

JT has learned a few things from repair shops:

1) If they say make an appointment, JT asks if appointments are honored or am I just leaving the car there all day.  JT experienced what TDT has, but JT snapped after two hours. He now asks how long will he be waiting.

2) When your car is left.  They say they'll call when its done or with a diagnosis or estimate.  They never call.  You have to call.  Everytime.  Doesn't matter where you go.

3) Customer Service is pretty much an oxymoron at these places.

Best place JT's been so far, is FMJT's Honda dealer.  Free Bagels, Coffee, Tea, magazines, and wifi work areas.  They are pretty good with appointments... although sometimes it appears that the work is not always FIFO.

The Rev got lucky.  His former neighbor is a service manager at a garage, so The Rev always gets in and out in a timely manner and with a 10-15% discount to boot.

One time The Rev even helped out the staff.  Some lady asked them to drive her car to another garage where she was havig other work done.  They said they couldn't do it, but they couldn't explain why.  Lady was getting bizzitchy.  The Rev popped his head in the room and explained that the insurance company wouldn't cover such a liabilit if something went wrong.  Everyone was happy.  Even the Lady who was the pain in the arse.  Big discount that day!

The Rev is going to nominate himself for the Nobel Peace Prize.
