GRO: You and LD are making TDT feel real real YOUNG today.  Today TDT turns a Quarter Century on this planet and I haven't a clue about 99% of the movies you guys are bantering about.  Was there "80s Movie Night" every Wednesday at 28 Colvin Circle with Car Bombs, popcorn, and Rucks wings???

TDT, please tell me you've seen the movie Red Dawn.  If you haven't, you are not allowed to post on LLPP.

first off happy b-day (and insert 420 joke here) to TDT...  My theory is that the golden age of 80's movies were around 85-86.  Gro was 6-7 then, while you were still having diaper malfunctions. But, you should know most of these movies since the reason they are still popular now is that they were replayed over and over and over during the 80's (think Shawshank redemption on TNT now).

trivia time...in iron eagle what was the song and group who sang it on the cassette doug put in as he headed into battle? (no googling...)

Well this might be a trick question as it is not "were not gonna take it" by Twisted Sister which I believe is the song that is played while the dude gets the plane ready at the base....

Dont forget about 'cant buy me love' and a good "African Ant-eater dance" in that one that was performed at a high school dance.

"Ronald Miller: You ignored the Donald Miller geek for seventeen years, now you want to ride the Ronnie Miller express!"

LD, monster list right there. Major obscurity points for Mannequin.  All of those songs are now fighting for air time in my head.

strange story... once upon a time before sports took over the summer the gro family went to Nantucket for vaca. Rented a house "right neah da beach, boyeeee".  No TV, not that it mattered in the summer with the beach a quick walk away. Anywhooo, we had this standard issue 80's boombox -- you know a nice one with auto reverse -- and the 2 tapes that got the most play time were Billy Ocean "when the going gets tough" and Paul Simon "graceland".  Gro has a permanent place for both albums in his brain. 60's years from now senile gro will be flowing to "You can call me Al"

Come on man.  Everyone knows Jeff Spicolli was the best 80's character of all time.

Fast Time f'n rules...  JT feels that Damone is an under appreciated character. JT will sometimes roll out his Damone impression.  Only true Fast Times fans get it.

First of all Rat, you never let on how much you like a girl. "Oh, Debbie. Hi." Two, you always call the shots. "Kiss me. You won't regret it." Now three, act like wherever you are, that's the place to be. "Isn't this great?" Four, when ordering food, you find out what she wants, then order for the both of you. It's a classy move. "Now, the lady will have the linguini and white clam sauce, and a Coke with no ice." And five, now this is the most important, Rat. When it comes down to making out, whenever possible, put on side one of Led Zeppelin IV.

What are you kidding? We're gunna surprise them. Look, just fix your collar, alright? Relax, just be cool, attitude, remember? Where'd you get that, outta the hamper?

Yeah! The attitude dictates that you don't care whether she comes, stays, lays, or prays. I mean whatever happens, your toes are still tappin'. Now when you got that, then you have the attitude.
Classic...    just classic!

"You Sh*t on my house man....you sh*t on my house!"

Obscure Craig T Nelson quote.

He pops up in the strangest places.

Any movie with Coach in it is passable, even if Tom Cruise is playing the lead.  Otherwise football must be the theme of the story.  Okay, okay Legend is passable as well.

Still Top Gun may be viewed when in accordance with Iron Eagle, but only when triple deckered with Beat Streets I and II and Breakin 2: the Electric Boogaloo.

Gettin ready to break the Ice, feels like time is standin still....

Nah - that was a quote from the redhead Ron Howard wanna be in Can't Buy me Love.

Speaking of sports movies (and All the Right Moves is a classic) how 'bout Vision Quest with Matthew Modine...

What about Loverboy when he played a giggolo pizza delivery guy?

JT delivered pizza back in the day, but never got any "rich broad" action even though he delivered in one of the wealthiest zip codes.  His second job at the Fotomat (also in a rich area) is where JT got a little "sugar mama" action once upon a time.

Damn....Realistic delivered pizzas for about a year and a half.  Best I ever got was a college chick in a towel.  Rest of the time I was delievering to trailer parks and low-income housing.

union89

As LD said earlier, U89 thinks he might be stoned from all the second hand over the last 3 pages of '80's references.....

How about.....
- "Bad Boys", not the one with Will Smith, the one with Sean Penn....the big dude with the curly blond hair who looked like Ian Zerring was classic....'Gro talking about boom boxes reminds U89 of the one which blew up on the big dudes head.

- "Warriors....come out and playyyyy.........Warriors....come out and plaaayyyyyyy!!!"  That was Luther from 48 Hours best part EVER.
