Utah & LD11 ~
Is it just U89, or has this damn Dustin "Cement Legs" Pedroia gone too far..........put in Cora!!!!!

Touchdown Tommy

Pedroia what? what? Louder 89...

This series has been off the hook for intensity, back and forth scoring, and it is only mid-April...
Chasing MILFs since '82...

Pedroia made one play......he's in way over his head, Cora has been a stud and is solid.......Pedroia needs to go back to RI.

TGP is a born Masshole so TGP was very happy to see the sweep - been a long time coming.

The reality is however, we should have won 2 of 3 this weekend going away.  If Mussina and Wang were healthy this could have been a very different series.

Friday night's game was one for ESPN classic, but Beckett and Dice had stretches where they looked pretty weak.  If the Yanks had better starters in for Games 2 and 3 of this series we may have been the team that got swept.

Still, the fact Boston had to come back 3x to win says a lot about the resolve of this Sox squad.

TGP will celebrate this sweep for sure, but will temper it with the knowledge that we had our top 1-3 guys vs NY's 1 and a couple of rookie shmoes... AND the Sox only won by a combined score of 21-17.

It's back on again this Friday in the Bronx.

On a separate note, TGP would like to recognize a moment of silence for the official passing of the tradition that was Hobart Lacrosse.

After venturing into DI 12 seasons ago, we've had our ups and downs.  Last Saturday the program has pretty much hit an all time low.  A 3 goal loss to a 3rd year lax program with a rookie head coach.

With only 4 wins and a very possible 0-3 finish to what has been another miserable sub 500 year (4th consecutive losing season, 7th losing season since 2000) , Hobart is on its way to the worst season in at least the last 30-50 years of our once proud program.

TGP will be very, very surprised (and disappointed) if Kerwick (the HC) isn't given his walking papers after only 1 winning season (which ended on 5 consecutive losses) in 6 tries.

The Rev had the the "Hobart should go back to D-III lacrosse" conversation with The Donut on Saturday.
The problem is that the D-I schools offer scholarsihps that Hobart just cannot compete with.  Why pay $35K to play lacrosse for a defunct dynasty, when one can play for a real contender for $0?  It's a no-brainer.

If I am an A student and great lax player, I'll go to Georgetown or Johns Hopkins.
If I am a B student and a great lax player, I'll go to SU or Maryland.
If I have more money than brains and am a decent lax player, I'll go to Hobart.

It's just not working out for us anymore.  It would be nice to stay D-I and offer scholarships so that we can get competitive players, but it is much easier for one sport to return to D-III than it is for a host of sports to go D-I.

The Rev wants us to move back to where we belong.

re: bosox vs. yanks.....pbr was stunned to watch 4 consecutive home runs by the bosox that was an amazing feat and very cool to witness

TGP, While I understand the Sox were fortunate to have the pitching matchups they did this weekend, they still capitalized.  It's still 3 games in the books.  Under your theories, if the Sox weren't plagued by injuries and cancer and an influx of mosquitos last year, they would have won 2 or 3 in the 5 game series against the yankees at the end of the year.  Bottom line is, you play with who is available and if you should win and don't, then shame on you.

Re:  Pedroia

Give the guy a break.  Not signing Loretta was stoopid, but we need to groom someone in there.  And 'Cora is a stud'?  I think Cora is terrible.  Decent defensively, but so is Pedroia.  I can't stand Cora to be honest.  Pedroia is chalked up in my mind as an automatic out, but you never know when nights like last night might break him out.  You know who really sucks?  Willy Mo Pena (aka - Pedro Cerrano)...  THrow him a curve ball and he's not even close.  He needs to drink some of JoBu's rum me thinks.

'gro

Gro is convinced that the writers for the sopranos are trying to build up every scenario for the final episodes, but it will end just like any other episode. Tony will go to therapy and go on his way, roll credits. But in the mean time, don't kill Paulie Walnuts, he's hi-larious!

p.s. is it baseball season?

You have to hand it to the Sox, comeback wins and all.  Going in JT was thinking that good would have been the Yanks taking one of three, given the patchwork staff and other injuries.  Only good thing JT took from the weekend was that the Yanks can hit the Sox aces.

JT's pet peeve is the Yankees resent history of not dusting Sox hitters.  Red Sox pitchers haven't been afraid of coming up and in.  One year they put both Posada and Jeter in the hospital.  Sorry but after two HR's Lowell gets drilled, and at the very least after three HR's, Varitek gets one in the ear.

Sox hitters have been way to comfortable at the plate.

TGP - aside from the one word response (LLPP is about substance!!) +k for the term "lake effect football". Me thinks you could trademark that and sell it to the buffalo bills.

gro got ambushed by too much information lady this morning. TMI lady loves to chit chat about her personal life, her travels, anything. She had gro cornered in his office talking about some dood she's dating. There was no escape.

I don't totally disagree with you.  The problem was WHO was on the mound for your boys, really weren't comfortable in plunking someone and instead were trying to make a name for themselves blowing hitters away and the Sox are good enough to not let that happen too often.

As far as the Yankees hitting the Sox Aces, that's a given.  It's gotta be draining for a pitcher when every hitter in the lineup could be on the All-Star team.  I think the Yankees are in some pitching trouble though in the near future.  But i'm sure they will get Clemens back, Randy Johnson back, and probably trade melky Cabrera for Johan Santana straight up when Matsui comes back.

Im still going to assume that top lax players at Hobart (like Cornell and Princeton) arent paying the full price and probably get half the tuition paid for by "academic" scholorships.  But even with the rest paid for by loans, guys are going to choose a full ride at Ohio St, Fairfield or Albany than go to Hobart.

Although notice not that many Cuse area players on the Hobart roster.  Thats a problem.

True.  But it was funny how they were telling Dice how to go up and in on A-Rod.  Last night, he just does it. It even had to be translated.  JT started muttering... "See that's how you do it, come on Guidry you used to pitch in tight, show 'em how to f'n do it."

JT used to hit people back in the day.  JT's rule of thumb... the hitter can either have the inner half or the outer half but not both.

Who knows what Clemens is going to do, he might even play in Boston again.  So we'll see.  If the two teams remain close the remaining 15 games should be as crazy as the first three.
