A few thoughts...

1. Jon Lester should be a beast.  Sounds like he is recovering well from the cancer and close to making his MLB debut.  I mean Tavarez is horsesh!t.

2. Ticket prices are like anything else: Supply/Demand.  The Red Sox have THE most rabid fan base (even more than the Evil Empire IMO) and the smallest ballpark.  You do the math.  Cash Cow baby!!

3. I am headed to Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City in a couple weeks.  Anybody been to this park?  What about the city?  I've heard the park is beautiful for an "older" facility.

4. JT: Have you been to the park for the Brooklyn Cyclones?  I've heard that is quite the place for a minor league game...Also nothing like a few Cape Cod league games in the summer months.  The best college players in the country who will soon be 1st round picks.

5. Jonny is right.  The south Bronx where the Stadium is and the new one being built is a real sketchy area of town.  Similar to Comiskey Park on the South Side of Chicago.  You follow the crowd.  Jonny what did you think of the Trop?  I've always wondered if that was built FOR the D-Rays in the mid-90s or was it pre-existing?  What a sterile behemoth of concrete...

6. Where is the pic of GRO groping the ATL hooters girls?

7. TDT hopes that LD11 has SOLID justification for spending his night at Gay 90s.  And that he was wearing his LEATHER underwear.

enjoy the avatar boys...

I was gonna post a 'back by popular demand' photo of this but Gro beat me to it.  Unfortunately, LD11 was at a gay bar tonight.  It's true.  It was royally disturbing.  It was gross.  But I was there.  Thank god WTFF was with me to make out every couple minutes just to set the vibe straight.  Ewwwwww, I need a shower...

"Unfortunately, LD11 was at a gay bar tonight."

Fortunes don't put you in gay bars LD.  It's ok.

In gro's defense, its obviously a staged picture, no one else is doing the chop.  Still hilarious.

Now I need a pic of LD last night at the blue oyster. Did you see johnny cakes?

first question why were u there in the first place? second ? did ld have leather chaps on? and do your tool in a box routine there?

Ok, WTFF and I, went to a wine tasting, which was a social event for school.  My buddy came there with us, and one of the guys in our class just happens to be gay, and a bar owner, and my buddy with us goes there from time to time, as do a lot of people in our class.  But LD11 still remained as one of the few who hasn't gone down to the place, and was starting to be classified in a negative light.  Anyway, the Gay Bar Owner (GBO) text messaged my buddy that this guy Fred who has a crush on my boy, was there.  SO, in an attempt to make my boy uncomfortable, we went down there, yes, to watch American idol on the big screen with a bunch of gay dudes.  Then Fred showed back up and was all over my boy.  It was nasty.  But none of us paid for any drinks all night, and LD11 kept an empty beer bottle next to him all night in case he had to smash it on the table and stab someone in their larynx.  LD11 did not wear leather undies, but WTFF gave LD11 the green light to grab her butt anytime he wanted...

Gro asked LD to take a pic of him doing the chop (then of course forgot about it, claimed he never did it, then LD posted said pic on LLPP)... it was all in fun. Now if a video exists of young gro doing the "heeey-hoooo" dance to hip hop hooray at an albany firebirds game in the mid 90's that would be youtube worthy.

Kind of like a young U89 dancing in the isles at the Journey concert at the Worcester Centrum....circa, 1983.................JT, don't poke fun, I know you have something similar in your background.

Thank God there was no youtube back then.
There's no proof that JT ever pretended to be John Travolta while the Grease soundtrack was playing circa 1978.

Im still going to assume that top lax players at Hobart (like Cornell and Princeton) arent paying the full price and probably get half the tuition paid for by "academic" scholorships.  But even with the rest paid for by loans, guys are going to choose a full ride at Ohio St, Fairfield or Albany than go to Hobart.

Although notice not that many Cuse area players on the Hobart roster.  Thats a problem.

I think that Fayetteville-Manlius would be a natural feeder to a place like Hobart, but I only remember two or three guys from F-M the whole time I was there.

it would seem like a logical move but the really good West Genny and F-M kids head for sunnier pastures (Virginia, Duke, G-town) and the more average (for those schools) end up starring for some of the D-III powers.  Also Lemoyne is now taking a lot of those kids b/c of the scholarships and recent success.  Hobart should look to Cornell recent success (with a hobart guy, if I am not mistaken) and look to Canada for stud Box players.

Yankee Stadium isn't in the same league as Cominsky.  Yeah, the South Broxn isn't great but the Stadium is basically there by itself with a few bars and a bowling alley.  get off the 4 train and head to the stadium.  Its not rough in the immediate area.

It is going to be very strange when the new stadium and the old stadium are sitting right next to each other though...

Gro looked up the answer to this one. The trop was built in 1988 with no guarantee that MLB would give them a team. 10 years later they get the D rays.  Gro did not know the stadium was that old, so some of it's crappyness makes sense (when did the "new" ballparks start coming around? Camden?).  They were right in building a domed stadium, but everything else about that place is wrong.

Seriously.  Wine tasting, guys named "Fred" that have crushes, other guys that "just happen" to be gay, American Idol on big screens, text messaging.....
