I'll take the NFL scout's and NESCAC observer's word over any of the frat boy locker room humorists on this board, thanks.

I think that is a compliment.

U89: Please don't Waste #1000 on Pat.  He isn't worth it.  Oh and he would never ever ever adjust your karma more than one at a time...  8)  8)

Bottomline: Frank fully deserved to be called on the carpet for that rediculasly retarded statement.  The fastest 40 time of ANYONE in the draft was 4.32.  Case closed.  Thanks for playing.

Hey, no offense, but if you want to be taken seriously, LD11, you have to post something other than banter. Otherwise, honestly, you folks have no football cred with me. (Again, JT aside.)

This board seems to have a problem with someone interrupting its gabfest and that is not good. If you guys aren't going to allow people -- hall of famers especially -- to talk football then there might have to be some changes in the way the board is allowed to exist.

You want to differ on a definition of blazing? Go ahead. But calling him a douche is way out of bounds. Then again, that is par for the course for one of you. As I said earlier, it's that, and the support of the posse, that I'm objecting to.

We talk plenty of football in here.  It's April for crying out loud.  And the honest truth is I really don't need your seal of approval regarding my 'football cred'.  I've broken down more film, and have analyzed more defenses in my day that would make your head spin.  Football was my most difficult class in school, and I put more hours in front of a VCR than I care to think about.  'NFL Scout' doesn't define all-knowing football knowledge.  Most scouts are experts in 1 area, and are not well-versed in everything.  Frank apparently wasn't a scout for speed because with his standards, the NFL would be full of 150 pound sprinters.

If you have a DIII.com poster Hall Of Fame, I'm of the opinion that it should automatically disqualify you from being able to make "frat boy" comments.

The problem began with Frank trying to make a subjective term (blazing speed) objective (4.3).  Not to mention that this is a D3 board, so any descriptive words about a player should be taken in relevance to the level of competition. Frank's "i am the law" attitude deserved the so called bashing.

So if Frank wants to come out with a coversion chart of speed adjetives vs. 40 times that would be very helpful for us non scouts, you could put it on the FAQ.

I have to chime in here.

First of all, U89 should not be admonished for anything he said.  Maybe "bashed" isnt a great word, but when Frank came on the nescac board and stated that no one in the nescac ever had blazing speed in the past, present or future, and then came up with his own definition of "blazing", he deserved to be questioned.  Maybe a little too much sarcasm?  Sure but no one (except for maybe TDT calling him a douche) stepped over any sort of line.  Plus, I would say many d3 football players are so small, they would never get a chance to play d1, but could have "blazing" speed like a d1 guy.  And its not about defining "blazing", its telling other people what the term means, when it simply is an adjective, and cannot be defined.  Its like me saying Curt Shilling is a "great" pitcher.  Then Joe Torre tells me he isn't "great", only pichters like Nolan Ryan are "great".  No one, I dont care who you are can tell me who is "great" or "blazing" or any other subjective adjective.  And Frank came off like he came up with the definition of the word blazing for football players.  Thats what pissed people off.

Sure, but I still disagree with Frank about many things, especially his philosophy of schools being able to play whoever they wanted and schools being able to let in whatever kids they wanted to.  I even called him once the "Libertarian" of college football (or something to that degree), and If I remember correctly, he liked that term.  I think its clear that the best thing about the NFL is its socialist system that is set up, and I think the NCAA gets better when there are some standards for schools to follow.  I think Frank is completely wrong in his opinions of those subjects, and I dont care if he is Mike Ditka or Bill Belechik.  He was wrong (in my opinion)

This is redeculous

Ahh, see, rather than someone defaulting to the childish name-calling labeling him a douche and the rest of the gang bashing, that would have been something to ask at the time.

That definitely stepped over the line. The support of that which followed is what's at issue here.

I don't agree with everything Frank says either, but he does not deserve the treatment that has been given.

I dont think anyone supported calling him a douche.  I just ignored the comment.

JT

I didn't enter the debate but anything 4.4 and below is fast for a football player.  Very rarely do track guys make good football players.... Bob Hayes and Bo Jackson being rare exceptions.  JT remembers those teams that blow draft choices on track guys with hands of stone, like Jonnie "Lam" Jones from the Jets in the late 70's early 80's.  No one could keep up with the guy, unfortunately he couldn't catch a cold.

Seconded - I don't believe anyone is going to OK that, but the rest should be fair game.
