One thing I will say is that I do think that it would be helpful if Frank did actually respond  to why his definition of blazing is 4.3 ....  Regardless of everything else that has happened, I think providing "proof" or support to his one liners would be helpful at times.

Sure but no one (except for maybe TDT calling him a douche) stepped over any sort of line.

That definitely stepped over the line. The support of that which followed is what's at issue here.

I don't agree with everything Frank says either, but he does not deserve the treatment that has been given.

And most of the "support of that which followed" has been some mild sarcasm I would say......

Willy Wonka

A MIACer jumping in on the discussion late here...

From what I can tell, this "debate" started with people jumping on frank uible for stating 4.3 speed isn't "blazing." This is a redic argument on frank's part and he deserves all the criticism he received — including the ripping for being in Pat's mysterious HOF. For reference, the only reason GAC's Hoag got a shot at the League is because he ran a legit 4.33. These guys clearly don't grow on trees.

But, Pat couldn't help himself and further escalated the situation by trying to defend frank's place at the table.

Here's Wonka's question:

How can someone, in this case Pat, even begin to defend a completely arbitrary designation like his HOF when no guidelines have ever been laid out? This isn't like the Terms of Service; there is no rhyme or reason to the Hall selections. Is it # of posts? Is it football knowledge? What makes someone worthy?

Wonka doesn't pretend to know all the inductees, but the only common thread seems to be none of them question anything Pat says or does. This is exactly why Wonka prefers checks and balances fellas, not yes-men.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Wonka:

What are the guidelines for the baseball, basketball, pro football, etc., Halls of Fame? Seems like those completely arbitrary units function just fine.

Hall of Famers contribute meaningfully to many conversations across a range of topics on a multitude of boards. Number of posts has no bearing. Longevity has a fair amount of bearing. Hall of Fame candidates are peacemakers rather than rabble rousers.

The membership of the Hall of Fame is voted on by the Hall of Fame once a year. There is no guarantee anyone will be inducted in any given year.

If you look at the 10, I think they all meet these requirements. Except Coach C occasionally stirs up trouble, and apparently not everyone is a fan of Frank Uible's blunt style. :)

Those who limit their experience to talking smack on a couple of conversations and making up pretend clubs need not worry about the Hall of Fame calling for them.

And just because these general guidelines have not been laid out specifically for your benefit, Wonka, doesn't mean they have not been discussed openly. They just haven't been talked about on the four or so boards you read.

I would think it would be kind of flattering having a d3football.com post patterns club.

In an effort to bring a little levity back to the East Region, check out this tool's tape sent to NFL teams.  Seems that he fancies himself a top notch punter, holder, third string QB.  He claims a 45+ yard average and a 4.4 hangtime.  JT can't stop giggling. If we hurry we can catch his Pro day on May 27th at a Middle School in Cali. Does Frank evaluate punters? If so, we need to get him on the gig.

You gotta love the youtube.

must be a joke. It would be nice if he actually showed a full punt with hangtime and landing.  Watch at 1:20 where he does the "fake punt run" he runs off camera then back in the shot. it's edited to make him look faster (watch the speck of a person walking on the track... don't ask how I saw that).

JT immediately thought of the hoax.  The other possibility is that the guy is a wack job.

There are 10 of them??? Doesn't seem like many or any except Frank inhabit the East boards too often...

As for the youtube clip, what a joke, that "fast forward" at 1:20 is pretty darn clear once you know it's there....good catch!

This dude must think he is Uncle Rico or something.

PBR...

pbr's question is why is pat on here defending frank so much? if everyone (other than pat) disagrees with franks statement about 4.3 not being blazing in the 40 let frank come here to explain and expand upon his thought. it's very weird in that frank is no where to be found(lurking pbr is sure) but pat feels he has to come on here and defend him. pat pbr understands you dont like some of the name calling(rightly so but no one here is really defending the name calling) but frank is a big boy and can defend himself and his thoughts. as is stated on here since frank is a hall of famer and brings a wealth of knowledge to this board and has forgotten more  football than we little midgets of the 65 lb. B team will ever know let him come here and school us on the finer points of football.

PBR, this whole thing is in the rear view. Time to move on and go back to the island of misfit toys (LLPP).

Sincerley,
Charlie in the Box

EDIT
In a funny note... the pats are claiming that 30 year old randy moss was recently timed at 4.29 in the 40.   That's a spicy meatball!!

Gro, unless he ran under pie (3.1416) he isn't a spicy meatball.
